She did not win neither jury nor televote while Russia did win the televote a year later so how is any of this political. Both Italy and Sweden have each valid reasons for placing higher than Polina in 2015. "tHe ReAl wiNnER" is a comment that is literally written under every Eurovision performance on youtube ever. Just deal with your favourites losing.

Man its GagArina, like the first man in space Gagarin and I guess wether he won or took 2nd place. But she definetally won Eurovision contest in one year. Maybe with this song, our men singers usually win, but Polina did it great in the finals. For me she was a winner.

GagAra is a russian name for a bird in English called "loon". A polar bird. First man to fly in space was russian cosmonaut Yuriy GagArin. Polina has the same surname. It is proniunced with emphasis on second "A". Correct pronouncation is GagArina.

Actually, google translates "Гагарина" correctly and voice function pronounces it right, except for emphasis. And the "a" in the end of Gagarin(a) is a word ending to distinguish between masculine and feminine in russian language. In english she would be Gagarin.

This is the semi-final of contest. According to the rules of Eurovision, band and instruments are just decoration, music is recorded before the show, and only voice of a singer is live.

Up until the late nineties all songs were accompanied by a live orchestra, after that they turned to prerecorded music because of the technical challenge to get over 40 performances all played live.

It's approximately 45 countries every year. So there are two semi-finals in order to have a decent two hour final show, otherwise it would take ages.

The ESC has got so big over the years - now up to 46 countries competing. Semi finals had to be introduced to keep the main show within reasonable time limits, i.e. 3 hours or so. I remember a time with 20 countries, all Western Europe, except Israel..... End of cold war and by and by the number of countries increases, Russia first participated in I believe 1995 or so... About that analogy between sports and music business...I`m not so sure that artists are treated like coaches or players in the popular team sports....sports world is tougher: you don`t get your medal, don`t win the championship. you`re done. Points, seconds, yards, goals...none of that in music...no "best" performers or performances here. The ESC is a SONG contest, not an artist`s contest....sorry for that rant, thanks very much for that reaction..stay safe ....Greets!

The idea of songs for the masses is right and wrong. Remember this is a contest and they are trying to get the most of the votes from public and juries. A song for the masses is a safe play. But in other hand you have countries that takes this as a challenge and as an opportunity to show its background and culture. So they perform another type of songs. In recent years due to the globalization of the contest you can find more styles or genres, and more current artists or music.

Its not a Concert but a contest.... the band isnt ALLOWED to play live Instruments

Pls pls react on this one "DOĞA İÇİN ÇAL 10" it is music video for nature and there is a lot of singers playing or singing for nature and translation of name "Play for nature" pls reactt love from Turkey

The music is always full playback at Eurovision, it would take too much time to change between songs and they couldn’t fit 26 songs in 2,5h. Also Polina was heavily booed by the LGBT community during her performance because of Russian laws and policies. You cannot hear it here because they used this fake applause to cover it up for the final, but she definierest heard it on stage and thus tearing up at the end.
