My dad was chief of police in a town in Iowa and a "well-known" sheriff's deputy was dating a sophomore in high school while he himself was 23.....(NOBODY INTERVENED)....anywho,,,,,this GIRL broke up with him and the deputy didn't like this so he went to her work at the Kountry Kitchen...(it's sort of like a Denny's)...and around 10 am he shot her 6 or 7 times then walked out of the breakfast diner and drove out of town until he was apprehended a couple hours later. None of his charges mentioned or made reference to the female being 14 yrs old...he was only charged with 2nd degree murder and currently lives in a town in Iowa. Carroll, iowa . My dad was called on the landline at our house but he was out of town oddly....with his girlfriend sandy, which the town knew about except my mom says she never knew until his gf called the house 1 morning and asked for dad which by then dad immediately asked for a divorce. What a web of secrets and lies within our law enforcement agencies. RIP Dad.

Luckily there not all like that in California I knew a guy who applied to be a police officer and you literally need to write your life story everyone you know and have to have people close to you family neighbors employers etc to write about your character all in all it's about a six inch thick packet of paperwork you have to fill out then you wait like 6 months as they verify everything well come to find out they didn't accept him simply because he had a picture of himself at a bar he worked at that was frequented by motorcycle gangs I was like damn all that work for nothing so what I'm getting at is sometimes small towns can be more corrupt than a big one

I was working at the Advocacy Resource Center on an Army base in Georgia when this happened, cramming in a few classes and seeing these events unfold live. He was an Army Reserve First Sergeant (1SG) as well as a police Lieutenant, both positions being ones of trust and responsibility. When I found out that untold amounts of resources had been spent for what amounted to a suicide staged to seem like a murder, I was sickened. He obviously lacked the ability to adhere to any oath he'd taken, and when he chose to take the "easy" way out he hoped to be martyred as another fallen cop as opposed to a disgraced criminal.

What I'm about to say is very sad, but oh so true. When the superiors of an officer learn that an officer is dirty, the department begins an internal investigation. The problem is that the investigators turn out to be the same people that the crooked cop shares coffee and donuts with everyday. Some investigation. That's why they get away with so much with no recourse.

Back in the 80's and 90's, law enforcement had very little oversight and cops generally acted with impunity, I have a good memory. Today we have smart phones and camera's everywhere so accountability isn't so easy to avoid. When I was a teen growing up in the 90's in southern California, the cops would pull people over and just beat them in the street, then charge them with resisting arrest and whatever other phony claims they could think up. America's entire legal system was horribly corrupt back then; it wasn't just cops committing crimes in broad daylight, but the court's themselves weren't to be trusted. Things have changed for the better today, thanks in part to modern technology.

They are still very corrupt and not held accountable for their unprofessional and sometimes psychopathic/sociopathic behaviour. The “justice system” is so far from “just” it should be renamed! The poor and marginalized will always be more so with a system like this. Only the rich and powerful can escape Justice and those with the biggest mouthpiece get away with murder and other sordid crimes

  • @GamersBay

@@wordsleuth992 The legal system as a whole is totally broken today. Prosecutors practically operate with impunity, and don't even get me started on corrupt judges, theres plenty of them too. I think we need to remember that not everyone in law enforcement is bad. There are plenty of great cops out there who really do care about people and devote their lives to helping others. Either way, things need to change, there needs to be more oversight of the entire system. Placing body cams on cops doesn't stop crooked courts from ruining peoples lives.

When I first went to jail then prison as a young Man (for prescription fraud), I was so upset, and so filled with rage that my heart actually turned cold. I literally felt so victimized by life that I wanted to lash out, and hurt people. I didn’t care if I died, or if you died, if life was going to do this to me then I was determined to cause indiscriminate chaos. I think a lot of these Men who do these horrific things harbor a tremendous amount of rage which can take your mind to a place where you never knew possible. From an evolutionary perspective, it’s probably designed to come out during battle, to enable you to commit horrific violence for survivals sake. Almost anyone could become a monster.

Exactly. This is why in the USA we have all these evil crimes -- violent home invasions and so on. It is always done by someone who just got out of prison. Most other countries do not have crime like ours, because they only pay to imprison people for good reason. Plus, they don't have Child Protective Services raising kids to be professional victims and criminals.
