go back to the car you took it out off , and check the left side of the glove box the side facing the driver , that is were I found my code , if anything you could buy the glove box, check the radio to, sometimes it is on the top. On a few of my cars I have found the code in the owners manual. That means going back to the place were you got the parts

Cheers for the Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - finding government seized and surplus property (search on google)? Try to find a local stereo install shop to unlock the radio. I put one in a Buick and our local place charged $40. He used a Autel computer, took him 5 minutes.

Good video Randy!👍 (I buckled-in because yes, you were all over the place but that’s ok 😂). Yes, the CTS & SRX are practically the exact same; I’ve had them both. GMs radio code thing is ridiculous!!.. went thru it with my CTS & current Tahoe. The GM ignition recall is a joke!.. all they do is give you a new “lighter weight” keychain/ring & tell you not to put more than like 2 keys on the ring (weight reduction). 🙄🙄

LRL Official that isn’t true for this particular issue. The entire ignition module has to be changed out, I own 2 vehicles they had to do it on, and I requested that the original parts be placed in my trunk so I would have proof they’d changed them.

At time I clicked this video there was only 8 comments never been that early. On the older gm radios there was a chip on the main circuit board you could snap off and it would bypass the security system but iirc the clock wouldn’t keep its time so had to be set each time you turned off the car (which most people would just ignore the clock lol ). The best option is just go to Walmart and pick up a Bluetooth head unit. Even the 20$ one isn’t bad for flip cars it’s what I throw in cars I sell. But for a car like that I’d get the 100 buck touch screen 👍

Those radio connectors look like they go to a blaupunkt radio. There is a k wire that goes to it in the harness. Pretty sure it's the brown wire in the bottom connector of the radio. You can try snipping the k wire and then uplug the battery and touch the ground or positive to the car together for a few seconds. Obviously don't connect them with the battery plugged in. But that should de energize everything and reset it. I would have said to cut the k wire before plugging in the radio. But the k wire is a diagnostic wire for blaupunkt. They use that brand radio in vws / mercedes and they are plug and play. If that doesn't work, put the wire back together, and tell the dealer you have the receipt for the radio from a wrecking yard. If anything u can see if you can work out proof from the wrecking yard you bought it.

GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE: 1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will need, so write 'em down. 2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press the AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write 'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code displays again, just start over). Call your dealership with this information and they should provide you the code

For that dash hit a well stocked hardware store that carries Krylon and Rustoleum 2X coverage. Buy a couple cans in shades close to the dash color and just paint the thing with whatever one tests closest when dry. The live auctions are what I go to. although the state rather than impound. Same thing, they start each car, if it moves they move it back and forth, then they auction it. To outbid a scrapper cost me $700 a couple weeks ago for a full size van, but I did drive it home and it's sitting over to a garage waiting to see if it passes my state's safety inspection. Which it should, I cleared a code out of it, but it did sit for a long time and they may not like what the rotors look like (they take one wheel off and inspect). But for $700 I got about $400 over the scale plus $150 in cats plus some pretty aggressive rear snows and a decent set on the front too so maybe another $300 worth. If I had to junk it, it has power windows and power mirrors that I don't see in the you-pick too often on these vans. And I bought some other stuff that I've been selling that covers what I paid for it anyways.

*actually if you have the vin number for the car the radio came out of there are some scanners and code readers that will let you program that radio into your car's computer. another handy tool for you to be able to do it yourself would be one of the Tech 2 gm scan tools which if you're planning on doing this for any length of time would be a worthy investment and keep you from having to run to a GM garage for everything. Also some of the Autel scan tools will reset those radios disable the security rest the ABS and SRS for you as well. of course having those things would put you in the next level of repair but regardless of which one of the tools you get you can have some really handy and in the end money saving tools in your arsenal that way. Just a thought, if i was doing anywhere near the volume of cars that you are i would most deffinately have one or the other of those tools, it would be stupid not to*

If your buying and end up working on a lot of GM stuff why don't you buy a Chinese version of the Tech2 on ebay. Over here in the UK there are shops that decode radios for you and you don't even need proof all they need is the chassis number on the radio itself, Have you not tried looking on eBay for any "Radio Decoding Services" and asking a seller on there worth a try.

The factory audio systems are ok till the head unit has issues. It’s really not difficult to replace with an aftermarket unit though. Most newer cars have steering wheel controls, some type of instar and usually Sirius Xm sat radio connectivity. You can keep those options by using an interface that are sold at most car audio/video shops. They simply plug into the vehicles existing harness and allow you to wire in an aftermarket head unit. You don’t have to go that route and can just buy a dash kit and head unit adapter, those extra options will just no longer function but you’ll have a working stereo. I hate to say it but you’ll waste more time on a rather shitty factory stereo chasing down how to make it work. Hope this helps, love the channel bud

You can pretend you're an auto body shop until them that the car radio does not work cuz the battery died or looking the glove box for the manual sometimes people write them on the card inside or on the manual itself

GM stereos are a royal PITA; you might look for someone locally that has bootleg GM Tech2 software. I got someone to reprogram a stereo for an HHR for $20.

I don't think the stealership will program it. My brother had a sts and swapped out the radio with a factory touchscreen unit he bought off of ebay and they wanted almost $200 to program it and gave I'm the run around on why they couldn't reprogram it. He ended up taking it to a local radio installer shop and they program it for $50.

Why a dealer for the radio? Anyone with a tech2 can do it. May independent shops can do it

I would say to the dealer that u bought the car from a private seller and it came like that but make sure u call them and explain that to them . Or just call any audio store and see what they tell u
