That note looks like it was written by a busy body walking by.

That does not look like an official warning note. They would use official notes for that and not just a piece of paper. That looks like some local person put that on your van and tried to make it look official. If you are not doing anything wrong ignore the note and go about your day.

Your phone has GPS which is always on. You can use GPS history to prove you didn't sleep there.

I been living in my van 4 yrs now. No police officer writes a note no parking patrol writes a note you get a ticket it’s just a neighborhood person handwriting note I wouldn’t worry about it have a great day

I got the same note at that same park. I saw the lady as she put it on my windshield. She is an elderly resident who feels she is doing her duty of deterring overnight campers in that park. I opened my door and told her kindly that I arrived after 6am, and did not try to be confrontational. She seemed a bit paranoid, perhaps there was a rash of campers or partiers taking over in the past. She seems to walk through there most mornings to “do her part” in her own mind.

I totally understand how frustrating it is. I got surrounded by the police with hands on the weapons in the middle of the day at a public park. I was in the back working on my laptop in my minivan. It's always sucks when police think you're up to something when you aren't breaking in laws or trying to sleep where it's illegal. Good video, Emily.

That is intimidation and unlawful! Police overstepping their boundaries and if you are in USA, that's against your constitutional rights if it isn't lawful. File charges against the police. FOIA the records and calls.

You may want to consider getting cameras on the outside of your van. That would really bug me if someone came up to my van, placed something under my windshield wiper and I didn’t even know it! I wouldn’t want someone that close to my van with me in it or touching my van. 😡 Times are different today ... we have so many sophisticated security devices where information comes at laser speed right to our phones screens. A security device might be worth looking into. ❤️

The weird part is, it was hand written. Arent warning notes from Bi-laws an actual warning ticket. I've had one in Burnaby. It was an actual ticket, but a warning to not stay. Hand written is weird unless it was the park ranger or someone.

That's what I was thinking. People in San Diego leave those types of notes on vans by the beach because they don't live vanlifers. But it's Canada maybe it's a legit way cops warn people there. Heck I don't know. What I do know is people need to mind their own business it no on is causing problems or breaking the law.

Hi Emi I am sorry you had that encounter I do have a suggestion for you put the time you arrived on a note in the window or like I do here in the USA I just do Boon docking and city parks those are free and parking lots Just look for No signs I've NEVER had a problem ever and been doing it for 40 yrs

I notice Security at no overnight Walmart s park near my van when I am shopping. I tend to park a distance from the store so random carts and congestion don’t risk an accident to my van. I wave my shopping at them as I enter the van but often they stay until I have put it all away and am driving off. I wave again and try to make a sarcastic face, hopefully they can read my scorn

If your worry about the paint on your hood, some people wrap a piece of cloth around the magnet.

I live in a sticks and bricks home. We have a beautiful little park in my neighborhood. We have a little camper van living at the park. But they move around the park and do not sit in one place. They move around the park every day and no trash. So we tolerate them ❤

My best bet is that it's probably a local who dosen't like vanlifers who wrote the little note. Usually police do not scribble warnings on a piece of paper. Furthermore, you were legally parked during permitted hours.

Hi Emi! Thank you for sharing ❤ I believe there are two sides to every story. For most van dwellers they are living in vans because of desiring for adventure and exploration, for more financial freedom, for mental and physical health reasons and solitude, or desperation, or for many other reasons and they respect the neighborhoods in which they travel to. There are other van and car dwellers who leave their area they stayed in with garbage and noise pollution, totally disregarding by-laws, disrespecting locals and the environment. When these notes are received it’s best to be compassionate and put ourselves in the shoes of the locals, the city, and police, and know if you’ve done nothing wrong then it is their issue of over generalization but also understand and honour their fear and distrust because of misbehavior among some van, RV as well as car dwellers. At the park you stayed at there used to be van campers who abused the by-laws which upsetted the locals so this explains the note you received. Hope this helps and anyone who read the message. Try posting a sign on your van stating you obey all parking laws and are aware of the designated parking times.

The ferry cafeteria sometimes serves a decent stir fry - I always get extra veggies instead of meat. It’s a bit pricey, but quite tasty! I think you have the right attitude towards people who complain, even though you’re following the bylaws. Love your content! 💜
