Many years ago,I went to an auction at a friends storage facility. I almost didn't go,but decide to at least go to drink a few beers with my Bud. There was a unit with pipe threading equipment that I got for $15.00 and ended up selling all of the stuff for $8,000. Nobody there had any idea what the stuff was,but I was a commercial carpenter,so knew.

My wife and I stored a bunch of our stuff in my sisters storage unit, because I had gotten deathly sick, we had a baby the month before, and I lost my job because, get this, he thought I was going to die. So we moved in to my parents home until we could get back on our feet. My sister was already living with my parents to take care of our mother. She got behind on the storage unit, and decided not to tell us, so it went up for auction. A friend of mine that worked there found out by looking at some of the papers and records, saw me at a store and told me about it being sold and said it sold for $200.00. My mom had antiques in it that was worth at least over $3k. And a lot of other stuff that was worth probably around $2-2500. Our stuff was worth at least $6k because my motorcycle that wasn’t running, a 1978 400cc Honda Hawk Automatic. No clutch, neutral first and Second. It at the tine was worth about 2k when the carb was cleaned out. A local dealer had tried to get me to sell it to him. I had some photomaking equip , darkroom stuff, etc, an antique piano, antique roll top desk and a secretary roll top desk, and misc tools, riding lawnmower, weed eaters. We were furious. She said she didn’t want to tell us because it would stress me out. No, my wife’s wedding dress was in there her mother and aunt made by hand. Of course it was priceless, but we were offered $800 for it after the wedding. If almost dying wasn’t bad enough, this damn near killed me, and damn near killed my sister!

Judi Bohn oh believe me, we didn’t and still don’t. We eventuality forgave my sister, but in all fairness our mom was ill with heart problems, and our dad had just retired, so she was living with them to take care of mom, and she says he intent was to get money together before it was sold, and knew we didn’t have the money either. It was tough for awhile, I won’t lie about that.

George ; "We can only hope"... I laughed so hard! You are a blessed man, I love you two!

I'm gonna buy a storage business, fill the units with junk, and have these auctions every weekend. People will buy anything, I swear.

Years ago there was an incident here in Houston where a tenant failed to pay his storage for months and when the storage unit management opened the unit, they found a stolen SUV. The guy who rented the unit was a HPD officer and had filed the SUV stolen collected the insurance money and forgot about the unit. It was funny as hell watching him being handcuffed by one of his own. LMAO What an idiot!!

Indeed. I've been to a "police auction" of goods confiscated by the police and they either had shills in the crowd or it was a bunch of first timers bidding EVERYTHING out of range immediately. I wanted to get a bicycle for my son and they were selling for more than you paid to buy NEW at a store. Bubbye

got me wanting to try buying a storage locker. I have bought everything else at auction including 26 acres, cows, hay, firewood, tools , you name it. now its time for a storage locker

My "close call" was back in the dark ages of puters...I bought TRUCK LOADS of old company PCs, to the point there was barely a path through the house stacked 8 feet high with desktops. Eventually the neighbors thought this was suspicious and called the cops. At the time turn over was insane, I processed them FAST, building new upgraded PCs out of it all, scraping the rest for parts and metal. The detectives showed up with a list of serial numbers, I happily escorted them to my garage and the absolute mountain of scrap PC cases and misc. steel ready to be to hauled to recycler...they took one look at the several tons of steel scrap, thanked me for my time and left.

Seemed like reasonable prices they must have all feared the captain at work , they all saidWhat the Hales!!!

Well no shit they said that, more than once.

Cops need probable cause and need warrant for specific items, contents and unit can not be sold if it is under investigation, if there items that cops believe are stolen still need warrant or can seize if they have been called and dispatched on official duty, cops cannot not be hangin around to c what surfaces in these instances--never call the cops!

What brand of roll top desk is that in the first unit you bought? It looks a lot like mine that I got new in the mid 1970s. I wonder if it is by the same manufacturer or looks similar because that is the nature of roll top desks?

were i live a guy got a storage locker and they don't open it so know one knows what is in them and he got for 45 and there was a high performance Porsche in it because the guy died and know one in his family wanted or paid on the storage unit so it went to auction this was long time ago i think in 94 i was so shock about it . it made the papers

16:04 You say you have every right to film the police. Correct. When we film and monetize the rules change. When we record AUDIO the rules change wildly from state to state. And for some reason filming thru a window or opening and filming a private area from a public area and visa versa seems to violate privacy in many places. But filming the police seems to be OK, and then the Police can decline to do their activity. And if they are going thru your stuff ( the locker , your house your car) you really aught to film as a condition of consent. They could say they ran the VIN and then just confiscate a totally legal car. Be sure to VINs before they start.

I don't mean to be a pest. 1,2 and all party consent refers to evidence brought to court in my research. When we show faces on broadcast and cable we need to get consent forms especially if the program is SOLD to shown. Now if we post to the I-net (youtube and such) well I have researched that and I think that if you get paid from the ads on your show you also might enter into another stick area. I am gonna stop now, unless you like more information. And it might be best to consult council.

In the state of Ohio, it's a one-party state, so I can record anyone who's over the age of 18 without consent as long as I don't infringe upon expected privacy (bathroom, fitting room, etc...)

Although, that was one of the better brands of corned canned beef! I would make taquitos out of it!

I brought a Chevy Yokun from the police Auction for $250.00 it was in excellent condition. Interior not damage or seats. We needed a bigger vehicle since more room to haul stuff. I have a 1985 Chevy Silverado One Ton Dually Crew Cab. Had it for years. The gf she has a small car. Not room enough when go on road trips. Brought the Yokun cheap. Clean title in hand after paid 4 it. Everything worked except the speakers no sound. Brought a new Custom CD Player for it and new speakers. Took the drivers door covee off to remove the old speakers and found packages wrapped up in suran wrap and foil. I was like oh $#@! drugs. Took the packages in the garage. Nope not drugs thank god. I was like hell yeah when I seen what was inside. I removed the other 3 door covers to remove the speakers. And again found packages I was like dam 😁😁😁 I showed the gf who was like holy shit. I called a friend that's a detective. He was on lunch break I said come by. He did I told him I found stuff he was like what. I showed him the packages he was like stunned. Went back to the police department. And learned that I guess the police and ATF and FBI never did search the vehicle good. He called the head FBI and ATF lead invesgators in the case. And they was not happy. My gf was like trade the vehicle or sell it. We did the next day traded it for a same vehicle. And no it wasent drugs that I found it was $$$. Gfs kids wanted to go to Disney World we went. Then when they was out 4 Christmas we went to see her family in the east coast.

@@WhatTheHales thanks we was shocked removing the stuff. We now own a rent to own house really nice. And the kids walk to school. Or I'll take them if it's raining. We was living in a rundown apartment. Now we live in a much better place.

I am jealous!!!! Roll top, stove Ugh!!!

typical auction. they all start and work down hoping someone will bid high. it has worked for me a couple times. someone didn't know what something was worth , I jumped on it kind of high and no one bid against me. I saved money because everyone else was to scared to bid it up
