Police Arrest Flight Attendant | Cockpit Confessionals

Great stories! Here is one from my 24 years as an AA Flight Attendant - 1984 - 2008. In the 80's we could come and go in the cockpit all we wanted, This one time, we were on a flight to DFW from ORD - Delayed due to summer t-storms. So we are parked on the taxi-way for about 25 minuets, and I am up front BS-ing with the Flight Crew when we hear over the radio: "The delay for all departures has been extended another 20minuets"... dead silence for about 2 seconds, then "SHIT!" comes over the radio... "WHO SAID THAT?!" says the tower... another second or two of silence, then: "Ah tower, this is American 22... we did not say shit..." Tower, this is Delta, 245... we were not the one who aid Shit..." "... Ah tower, United 43... no shit here..." and on & on the roll-call went until we almost pee'd our pants.

@@NicverAZ so true! I’ve never really known “what I want to be when I grow up”. What I studied in college was becoming obsolete, especially in my smallish home town. So, I waited tables, then became a bartender while I tried to figure it out. Well 25 years later I’m still bartending, so I guess it was decided by default! Plenty of good stories thru the years. One thing I love is when I get the chance to talk to people about their jobs: like you said, every profession has its’ stories, and I’m just super curious. Also, I am probably still trying to find my ideal career! I was glad to see your comment bc I believe that while we are all different, we humans can still get along with each other. Hearing someone else’s story helps us relate to each other, and that makes it harder to dislike someone. (Usually!) Peace!

I was on this plane once. And I'm sitting there and uh...the captain gets on, he does his whole, you know, we'll be cruisin' at 35,000 feet. But then he puts the mic down and forgets to turn it off. And so he turns to the co-pilot and he's like, "You know, all I could use right now is a blow job and a cup of coffee." So the stewardess goes bombin' up from the back of the plane to tell him that the microphone's still on. And this guy in the back of the plane is like, "Hey, hon, don't forget the coffee!"

When I was an F/O we used too fly up and down the East Coast of Britain in an F27 - an aircraft not known for its turn of speed. But we did make a good target for a practice first interception for the RAF. One day an F4 Phantom (well before TCAS) used us as a target and after doing so flew in formation alongside to our right. One of our cabin crew was so impressed she decided to flash the pilot and nav her impressive bosoms. Now they were a sight worth seeing.

Hmm, provided the senior captain is found like that isn’t in a public place, I believe that I would probably try to help him as best I could. Probably starting with getting him some clothes or at least something to cover his essential area. I would then try to get him to his hotel room and put him on the bed and leave a few bottles of water on the bedside table to help with the hangover in the morning. Though it’s not likely that I could transport him from elevator to his hotel room unaided due to his weight and survived the world wars.

Even after the enhanced safety protocols, he was just flying Dash-8 Q300s and gonzo's with few people on board, so we could still go check things out in the cockpit. It seems really strange that there's now a whole generation of kids that cannot have this experience.

The story of the flight attendant who flew the 747 brings back memories. Dad was a corporate pilot in the 60s & 70s, flying Howard 500s. I got to go on a couple of trips & on approach to San Jose, Costa Rica he told the co-pilot, "Why don't you take a break and let my son take over for a while?" I was maybe 7 or 8 years old, but got to "fly" the Howard 500, a huge radial piston twin, with Mount Irazu erupting right next to San Jose city, spewing smoke & ash tens of thousands of feet into the sky. It was awesome and fueled my becoming a pilot & mechanic later in life.

As a 10 year old I asked if I could see the cockpit. The flight attendant asked and I was allowed in. I was careful not to touch anything. It was really crowded with two pilots and an engineer (?) anyway. They were really relaxed and friendly. One of the highlights of my holiday.

As I'm sitting there I feel the presence of someone standing over my shoulder. It was a pilot for major airline. I took my headphones off and turned to look back at the guy and he said "Airport 70. Good movie." And walked away. Guess who recognized me as I was boarding my plane... yep.. that pilot from the major airline... was one of the pilots on my flight...

I was talking to a F/O and he was telling me one of his stories. He was a former Navy pilot who had not flown after the Navy for a few years but then decided to return to flying by getting a flying job at a commuter airline. He was flying as a F/O on a Dash 8. He had a long layover and the Captain had family in the city so he disappeared. He decided to ask the very cute, very young F/A out to dinner. He said they had a very nice dinner, a couple of drinks, and a bit of wine. He was thinking things were going great. They were holding hands, he thinking about the rest of the layover with her. She looked into his eyes and softly said ,”Jim YOU are such a wonderful guy, I would love to fix you up with my mother!”.

I remember as a passenger on an airliner out of Atlanta going to Melbourne Fl, back in 1971 as a student at FIT. I had my PPL at the time so I knew a little something about aviation. The Captain applied full power. The jet, I think and Eastern Airlines DC-9 sped down the runway. The captain rotated the nose but before the main gear left the ground he chopped the power and lowered the nose and came to a stop well within the length of the long Atlanta runway. The captain spoke to us and apologized and told us the baggage door lock light came on indicating the baggage door may not have been completely locked by the ground crew. The pilot taxied back and the mechanics made sure the baggage door was securely locked. Then we took off again. The airline Co. gave us all free drinks as an apology for the cut off after rotation. Today, that would have been a no no. But back in the day in the early 1970's I'm not sure what the rules were on "balked take-offs". I know the nose gear was rotated and the main gear never left the ground because I was a PP and I was following the take off with ultra interest because I wanted to become an airline pilot. I always believed the pilot did the right thing by aborting the take off just after rotation but before the main gear left the ground. But then during a pilot meeting many years later after discussing this case with many retired airline pilots, they all shook their head as a "no no". I said in defense of the Captain, "But he had so much runway left, this was Atlanta and he knew he had an open baggage door". But a retired airline 747 pilot and others whom I was discussing this case with said the captain of my plane "should have discontinued his take off". They said, "so what if the baggage door was open, it would have been safer to lose a few bags than to crash the airplane". But that was back in 1971 and I'm not sure if V1 cut offs were well taught to pilots in the same manner as they are today. If you were flying a DC-9 at Atlanta with a 10,000 foot runway back in 1971, would you have continued to take off at the moment the baggage door light came on while rotating or would you have chopped the power and abort? 1971 was almost 50 years ago. Did we have the same standards back then as we do now?

I went on my first solo flight as a passenger when I was about 8. I was invited into the cockpit regularly. I got to do short hops, (Chicago to Syracuse). I guess I was a cute child because flight attendants, exclusively female then< kept giving me the plastic wings. I was flying "non rev" because my dad was an employee. I spent a lot of time stuck in Rochester and Buffalo, NY. some time for 24 hours at a time. with all of the stories; Isn't it a rule that you must be "alcohol free for 48 hours between flights?

  • @seraphina985

    @seraphina985

    2 жыл бұрын

8 Hours is the minimum in both the US and the EU I believe. That said both do also note that more time may be needed for BAC to fall bellow the maximum at higher levels of consumption. This is because there is a legal limit for blood alcohol content for anyone involved in flight operations which is even lower than that for driving. Also like when driving the authorities can show up and request a sample at any time. With the limit being so much lower than the driving limit though and impossible to account for variables like individual clearance rates etc being a factor refraining for 24 hours minimum is a better idea perhaps more after a particularly heavy session.

Since Airbus planes have a side-stick instead of a yoke, each pilot has a sliding tray, that they can pull out of the bottom of the instrument panel. That tray (in the A320 series) is rated for a weight of 55 kg, ~121lbs. Just putting that out there... 😉

Flight crew, we are all squaking all the time. Our only hope is that ATC keeps us on the correct heading.

Omg this is pure gold 🤣🤣 - I always assumed you were like the most laid-back innocent pilot who would NEVER even be interested in discussing such stories. 🤣 Freight dogs, repo flights, etc must be some of the f the coolest jobs on earth.

Most of these stories never actually explain what happened or why. It's just "I saw Bob naked [insert random movie clip] and Mallory drove away." Okay?

there's also the chance that that's all the details he was given. if that's where the original story ends, then how should he know the rest?

OK Kelsey you just can't leave us hanging like that. What was the rest of the story with Mallory? Was it a Love Triangle gone bad like the lady NASA astronaut who drove across country making no stops to just " Talk " with the other female leg of their triangle. She of course wore an adult diaper during the drive so she would not have to make any pit stops.

-Ahh yes, the psycho astronaut. Would like to imagine that 'screening' was a bit more thorough, for that profession.. ;]

Ground maintenance confession. I was doing heavy maintenance on MD-11's back in the 90's and got along with the only girl on the team "great". We weren't dating, just sharing beds every other night. one day we were both inside the wing tanks inspecting for any corrosion and cracks and decided it would be a great idea to have a quickie. We didn't realise that we got the wing oszilating a bit and everybody put 2 and 2 together lol. When we got out all the guys were high fiving me and laughing tears. The only one who wasn't amused was the shift manager...
