pole reverser
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Crich Tramway Museum has a curious section of overhead used for reversing trolley poles when a car departs from the end of the line. It only works on cars that are double-eneded and have a single pole with no retriever. (July 2, 2013)

The basic princible is a "Y". Used in railroads to turn locomotives; etc thou some can turn a train if long enough. Early cars had one pole on which can be turned manualy as demonstrated on one KZread video of Ilse Of Man line. Later doublpole could be end cars used a seperate pol at each end or pentagraph. A retreval pole was used or a rople that was secure to cleates used instead of permanent rope holder
BLOODY GENIUS.
Wow I'm love I love trams and Trains❤
Visited the museum many times but this the first time I’ve ever seen this being used.
Fantastic !
That’s actually pretty neat!
That's called a Wye. Railways use the same design to turn around locomotives and cars and sometimes whole trains.
It also needs a swivel shoe like the poles found on trolleybuses for it to work.
that is COOL
Neat! Never saw that before.

That's awesome!
Whoa, so cool. Is there a pulley at the end of the trolley?
That is so cool!! 😃
thats somewhere you dont want to have a dewirement
Just wow!
That was nice
SPIFFY!
ekt8750 It is hard to tell how much the shoe actually has to swivel, but it looks like the pole stays mostly in line with the wire during the maneuver. On trolleybusses the shoe swivels so that the pole can run at an extreme angle to the wire.

As can the heads on certain trams, including the one in the video (Leeds 399). Trams with fixed heads are not able to use the reversers.
Да ну нах!
