Polaroid Captiva & Joycam | Polaroid Cameras to AVOID

Today Polaroid Originals supplies fresh integral film for Polaroid cameras, but they don't do it for all of them. There are certain cameras out there that you should definitely avoid if you want to start shooting instant film. These are cameras that you can't use anymore so let's take a look!

    The Polaroid Vision/Captiva is a really nice and unique camera. It is such a shame they can’t bring the film back for it, there definitely seems to be a lot of them out there! Hehe.

    I absolutely loved my Joycam. It was so simple to use on nights out. I also loved the symmetrical framing of the image with the white borders. They were an affordable alternative to the emerging instax range in the UK.

    If Ibwas going to try and use instax film, I'd probably try with my Joycam because the roller system doesn't curve the print around to the back. Plus you don't need power in the battery. It's just for the flash.

    You can definitely shoot instax in these, you’ll just have skip the 500 type that you’ve taped the instax to and just fit the instax into the spring loaded cart by itself. That way it won’t feed out of the camera and you can then refit it back into the instax camera for a proper development.

    The cartridge is stuck in the Captiva? Any idea how to get it to release it. The door won't open all the way to take it out. The film was old and camera hadn't been used in years. Since the battery is in the inserted cartridge, could the dead battery be keeping it from opening? Want to make it work. Thanks

  • @marianoguy

    well, you can do that with any camera with a big enough gate. the point of trying with these would be to have a better camera that would work with the available film and would still develop by itself. if you are developing with any instax, you might as well choose a better, fully manual camera with better lenses to shoot with

    So literally just minutes ago we found the Polaroid Captiva SLR (500) along with some old film. It had not been used in many years. Put the film cartridge in took a picture and it didn't come out. Took the cartridge out again and then put it back in again, and now it won't take a picture and the cartridge door won't open. Why? Is it because the film is really old and the in-cartridge battery is dead or what? We really want to get it open. Any ideas? Thanks

  • @AnalogResurgence

    @AnalogResurgence

    It sounds like probably the battery has died and it was trying to eject a piece of film but ran out of power. The film might be jammed inside of the camera. You might be able to force it open

    So, If people in Hemple Hemstead get Hemorrhoids, do people in Poland get Polaroids? (OK, I stole it from Benny Hill). I have a few polaroids including the first of the SX-70's and a very early (maybe the first?) that also had several copies of the Polaroid magazine with it. Thanks for the video. Interesting.
