Polaris RZR 1000 XP Cylinder 1 misfire code check engine clutch issue
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Cylinder 1 misfire code is almost always a bad drive belt, primary clutch, or both. Once you replace the parts you need and run it over 4000 RPM for a couple minutes, if the code doesn't clear, you might have other clutch issues. The only other check engine light issues we've seen over the years is usually electrical and it's almost always a pinched wire in one of three places. The wires are usually fuel delivery related. I wouldn't bother with trying a new injector, those hold up very well. Start with a fuel pump if you confirm it isn't pumping. If it is and you still have a problem, it will be a pinched wire. We see 2 or 3 of these every year. Once we see that issue this year, we'll do a video on it. Normally the pinched wire will be in the main harness toward the left rear of the vehicle where it rubs against the frame. The other area is under the intake box. There is a small harness that rubs under it as well. www.backboneadventures.com

Great video, well done
Just an added piece of information, would be to go ahead and check clutch alignment to make sure the belt is not riding on one side or the other on either of the primary or secondary clutch sheaves. Misalignment will cause premature belt failure and slippage and then again with misfire codes. Which is just at that point, essentially a timing issue between the crankshaft/output shaft and the input shaft of the transmission. The ecm knows no different, just that there's a timing issue somewhere. Nice video. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

Good point. Another piece of information related to that is to check the transmission mount bolts in between the motor and the trans. Those bolts can jiggle loose and throw off your alignment. We see that quite often.
I just wanna say thank you very much for the video. 👍👍
Thank you so much for this video! I borrowed my cousins RZR and this same thing happened to us. Now I can return it in tip top shape. Life savers!

Oh damn! Back in 2016 and 2017 I ran RZR 900's. I had 4 or 5 of them do that to me. In every case it was the damn wiring harness. We ended up replacing the entire wiring harness on 2 of them before we got sick of that bullshit and just traced down the bad wire. It was a chore either way.
Dang tell that girl she knows her stuff, how to diagnose a belt, how not to cross thread stuff, that's about 5 more things than most people using these machines know.

I'll tell her. She's a great little mechanic and tough as nails.

Honestly, I don't know. All I know is that for me, it's a regular thing. At least 3 times a week it happens to one or more of my fleet. You can also get a cylinder misfire code when one of the injectors isn't working. 99 times out of 100 it's a broken or shorted wire in the main wiring harness near the motor mount. In your RZR, it's a green wire for cylinder 1 and a pink wire for cylinder 2
Just had cylinder 2 misfire code and turned out the fuel pump went out. Was only getting 15psi of pressure. Should be getting around 58. RZR 1000

You're right. That is another common problem with these things. Easy fix though. We use the All Balls fuel pump and they seem to hold up well.
It can also be your spark plugs
How did the check engine light go off after you fixed it or does it go off by itself?

You can disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative cables together for a few seconds and then hook it back up. Or, you can drive it at over 4000 rpms a couple of times for a few seconds each time. Sometimes that misfire code will come on because you run the machine in high range going too slow on steep hills. Basically, if that belt starts to slip quite a bit, that code will come up.

Did the cylinder misfire code ever get cleared ?

Yes
First thing I was told to do was to change those square pucks to rollers.

Yep, for sure
Is that your daughter? She is very smart. My clutching advice is to get rid of those square pucks in the secondary and go back to the rollers.
Forgot the most important part on the clutch. The little plastic washer

You got that right. Those damn things wear out so quick. Sometimes when we rebuild a clutch, that washer is completely gone.
