Polaris Magnum 325 Fuel Starvation - Running Lean | Not the Carb & Not the Fuel Pump - Part 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This Polaris Magnum 325 is starving for fuel, running lean and backfiring. It's not the carb, not the fuel pump and not what I thought!!

    @@ProjectTimeGarage question for you sir, you don’t happen to have the fuel line diagram do you? I know the pulse line goes to the right side of the carb. However I’m having issues finding which line goes where from the “fuel pump” to the Petcock to the tank. From what I’m reading the gas and reserve line coming from the gas tank both run to the petcock, on the left and right side hook up line. I’m assuming the middle line comes from the fuel pump. Long story short there is several misleading references online and I’d like your advice.

    Hi I’m having problems with my carburetor it idles as soon as I hit the throttle it dies and what could be the problem because I had bought a new carburetor and fuel pump and sometimes it will start right and I can throttle it but then it will die backfire I don’t have a tuning screwdriver for the fuel mixture what can I do I’m tired of taking it apart I must have taken it apart about seven times due to the carburetor issue

  • @ProjectTimeGarage

    @ProjectTimeGarage

    Most likely it's a fuel starvation issue. If it idles fine, but backfires and dies when you give it throttle, then the pumper diaphram isn't working correctly.

  • @ProjectTimeGarage

    Basic rule of thumb - if you can squirt gas down the carb, it should at least sputter - even if the carb is junk. If it doesn't, then you want to check for spark, then compression.

    I finally got it figured out. There is a second video that goes through what all I found and fixed. It ended up being a couple of things. 1) a cracked intake boot on the head side and 2) they don't run well without the airbox lid on and sealed tight. Evidently those carbs are really picky about exact airflow, too much or too little makes it lean out big time. Check out the second an final video for all the details. Thanks for watching David!!

    @@ProjectTimeGarage yeah man it could be a possibility but I asked my grandpa what he thought it could be and he said there’s nothing wrong with it I told him maybe a dirty air filter could be the issue but I’ve been checking it myself and it wasn’t dirty cause it only cranks and hits off with half throttle applied so wouldn’t it be starving for air? Cause when you apply throttle to the fourwheeler the butterfly opens which is letting air in and at that point it hits off and it runs like a sowing Machine(and google isn’t helping me with this at all(figuring out what it is or could be so that ain’t good)

    My Polaris magnum 325 is sluggish what can I do to have it run smooth because as I want to move forward or backwards it dies as soon as I give it throttle?

  • @ProjectTimeGarage

    @ProjectTimeGarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    Most likely fuel/caburetor related, but one thing to check is the throttle safety kill switch. It's basically a micro-switch that kills power to the ignition if a "stuck throttle" condition is detected. Google has a lot of info about it and how to test it. May want to start there.

  • @ProjectTimeGarage

    I actually did, lol, this carb is completely under the tank. The tank has a relief molded in the bottom of it for the carb. I also have a 425 Magnum and an older 325, both of those can be done without removing the tank. Hell, I went as far as cracking open the old factory service manual (sacrilege, I know). It's procedure is to pull the tank, ugh! Anyway, not much way of checking valve clearances without pulling the tank anyway, so it had to be done.
