Just stumbled on to this today. Always like the late 60's early 70's Ford and Merc stock cars. Tried the heat method-managed to create a large contribution to the spares box. This look likes a great alternative. New subscriber--can't wait to see more.

Great Tip! I was ready to relegate my Petty Torino to the Collector kit stash section seeing as I was not willing to attempt the heat fix . Now I can definitely build the kit as this method looks so easy. Thanks

Well I'll be, the youtube algorithms are useful every once in a while, while being panopticon level terrifying at the same time. Not soon after commenting on the 2022 stock car builds video about polar lights and torinos, this showed up in my recommendations. Damn it this means I have to buy more kits to build, again :)

@@MarkBatsonHobbydude007 I don't have a good track record with plastic and heat so this was a good tip with methods I'm way more familiar with because of what I do for a living. Different medium but repairing warped things still involves precise cuts into them and glue (and splines/wedges). Watching the Holman - Moody Torino detail video you've put up, jotting down some notes and looking at local hobby shops where I can get the kits for the best total price.

Mine is curved rather severely downward so I will cut it at the center of the wheel well and bend upward using the hood to line it up and add plastic to the gap.

Great tip I do alot of tips on my channel and how toos that would also work for chassis by the way what wet sandpaper do you use on the putty because I use the same stuff

Thanks John Pol! I use 3M sandpaper. Depending on the filler, I use 320, 400 (mostly). 800, 1000 and 2000 to finish sand primers. Thanks again for watching!

I just picked up the Polar Lights Petty Talladega Torino today, so this video was great timing. I am terrible when it comes to using filler/body putty and getting good results- do you have another video where you explain your technique in detail? This is great!! I have had Petty's Torino for some years and have not built it yet because I wasn't sure about heating the body. Now I will have to get working on that kit!! Did you scribe the body lines around the doors and trunk? Looks a bit deeper than I thought, or it just could be the lighting. Anyway, thank you for the tutorial!!

Thanks Joe! In my experience, the AMT Torino's do not have this problem, just the Polar Lights kits. If it dose show up, I can't see why this method would not work. Thanks again for watching!

Hey Mark. Great tip on the finders, like you the hot water or heat gun seems difficult to not melt the model. May I ask what kind of razor saw that you used? 55 teeth, or lower. They sale different kinds. Just like to get the right one so I can do my kit.... thank you for your video and help and showing some of the tricks of the trade...

Mark, the saw I used in this video is an X-Acto brand 40 tooth per inch (medium cut, I think). They come in a two pack. It's the smaller/ shorter of the two. Yes sir David! The Mercs I have encountered do not have as bad an upward sweep as the Torino's but the same method works on both cars. The only difference is the front fender flares on the Merc. Still not a problem. Big thanks for watching!

I just picked up the Polar Lights Petty Talladega Torino today, so this video was great timing. I am terrible when it comes to using filler/body putty and getting good results- do you have another video where you explain your technique in detail? When I go to build this kit, I want to end up with results similar to yours. Thanks!

This is great!! I have had Petty's Torino for some years and have not built it yet because I wasn't sure about heating the body. Now I will have to get working on that kit!! Did you scribe the body lines around the doors and trunk? Looks a bit deeper than I thought, or it just could be the lighting. Anyway, thank you for the tutorial!!

Thanks Joe! In my experience, the AMT Torino's do not have this problem, just the Polar Lights kits. If it dose show up, I can't see why this method would not work. Thanks again for watching!

Hey Mark. Great tip on the finders, like you the hot water or heat gun seems difficult to not melt the model. May I ask what kind of razor saw that you used? 55 teeth, or lower. They sale different kinds. Just like to get the right one so I can do my kit.... thank you for your video and help and showing some of the tricks of the trade...

Mark, the saw I used in this video is an X-Acto brand 40 tooth per inch (medium cut, I think). They come in a two pack. It's the smaller/ shorter of the two. Yes sir David! The Mercs I have encountered do not have as bad an upward sweep as the Torino's but the same method works on both cars. The only difference is the front fender flares on the Merc. Still not a problem. Big thanks for watching!
