hi... you can set a sequence ot these 20 cards in the certer of the deck A,3,5,7,9,A,3,5,7,9,A,3,5,7,9,A,3,5,7,9 (yes, this is a larger arrangement :) )... and make them cut "in the middle" and ask them to the take 5 first cards of their cut => avoid the force...

@@SeanDevine thanks... another idea... set : A,3,5,7,9, half deck, breather, 9,7,5,3,A, half deck... cut to the breather... make the spectator riffle or rosace shuffle... ask them to take the first 5 cards of their shuffle (gilbreath principle here)... then, there are many ways to get back the deck and easily arrange 16 cards at the bottom, under the breather, this under the guise of mixing (cut 16 cards into small counted portions, and/or peel...) ... there's always a bit of pros and a bit of cons (here the spect shuffle for real before his selection :) )
