Toxicroak definitely number 1 for me, but Toxtricity and Crobat close runner ups. And to answer the question you asked in the video, I think just mentioning previous runs is fine, unless something particularly ridiculous/humorous happened in a failed run that you wanted to show off

5:25 I feel it’s fine to ban Mega Venasaur and Megas in general as there’s only two or three trainers who use Megas during the campaign. However, I feel you should’ve allowed normal Venasaur. You say the starter is too powerful, but had you done a Grass, Fire, Water, Fighting, Psychic, or Dark challenge you would’ve used a starter

Always loved monotype runs. Nidoking is a beast, there's never been a playthrough where I've had one where he didn't put in work.

I have a playlist of a mono type run, but it's a playthrough...

The reason you got so lucky with IVs with your Budew is a unique one! In generation 6, you can get at least 3 perfect IVs on caught baby Pokémon. First video by the way and I’m up for watching more of your content. ^^

@@invividcolor They nerfed the 3+ Perfect IV thing in later games, but in X&Y it works on any Pokémon that is in the Undiscovered Egg group (so basically all the Baby Pokémon, legendaries and Nidorina/Nidoqueen). From the Ruby/Sapphire remakes onwards it only applies to legendaries and ultra beasts and such (as well as all the Pikachu variants wearing clothes and hats).

8:57 any Pokémon you catch as a baby form in Gen VI onward has three good IVs. Granted, you got the three best ones randomly, but it’s the devs’ way of saying “sorry this thing is useless right now.”

It's always fun to hear from someone who also appreciates Kalos as much as I do :) It's fine if you don't show all battles with the rivals, the last one should be shown, and when it comes to evil teams, the leader battles I would appreciate to be seen. And also, it's not necessary to show all losses, but I wouldn't mind if you would show us really close battles which you had lost.

Great job! Poison has always been one of my favorite types, but it hardly ever gets any love. As for a challenge idea, go for a normal move only run. For ghosts you have to use foresight, odor sleuth, or have scrappy.

I personally like detail on difficult fights within the context on your specialised run, like here the second gym was super easy and so it narrated through in a couple of secs, but the nuzlocke ender brain brawn double battle was narrated in detail cuz it was dangerous to the run. Very much love this content, I’m off to watch the Soul Silver run I initially passed on cuz I subbed for league battles, but after giving this content a go I’m in. Great stuff Vivid ❤️

Awesome run! Love the Brink reference lmao I think I like showing the most dramatic battles, whether you win, lose, wipe, etc. So showing early wipes would be ok for me haha

Crobat makes every game a joke. It's just that good.

Nightshade's IVs were high because you caught it as a Budew and in X and Y all members of the No Eggs Discovered (also known as the Undiscovered) egg group including baby Pokémon caught in the wild will have at least 3 perfect IVs. In following games this only applies to legendary and mythical Pokémon including Ultra Beasts.

The "is this not an OSHA violation" bit had me rolling!

X&Y would have been the perfect opportunity to make a decently challenging pokemon game. All the gift Pokemon, good early game TM 's, and a pretty diverse Pokedex is really fun and reminds me of all the things I love about pokemon ROM hacks. But it lacks all the balancing those ROMS do to keep the game challenging. Obviously this game doesn't have to be as hard as a Drayano hack because obviously this is a game made for all ages but it would have been really fun if every GYM leader, elite 4 member, rival battle, and Team Flare executives had mega stones after you get yours. Add in a little bit better AI (because it's comically bad in this game) and giving gym leaders more pokemon and full moveset and this game would have been really balanced and still appropriate for all ages.

Kalos is amazing despite the "easiness" of the XY games. Such a beautidul region to play through, and if it ever gets remakes I'd expect them to be a challenge, yet keep my hopes low in case something surprising would show up! I'm currently doing a Nuzlocke of Pokemon Y, my first ever nuzlocke finally! I'm nervous and haven't had any deaths yet, but have been close. The beginning of the game can be scary at times, but so can the end in nuzlockes, even if they aren't hardcore. I think I'll try a few more nuzlockes after this run before I attempt a monotype and/or hardcore nuzlocke myself. I look forward to seeing more of your content as I'm a new viewer. I'm pretty sure Nightshade is my favorite Poison-type you caught, it's awesome and very lucky how you got 3 perfect IVs! Poison-types are one of my favorite types, I'd also suggest a hardcore XY nuzlocke in general, maybe not a monotype nuzlocke but anything would be cool!

I’m the same when it comes to the Kalos games. Watching Unova playthroughs made me want to get back into Pokémon, and X and Y were the first new games when I could buy my own. After finishing Y, I bought X, the first I ever got the other version. Now, I hardly hesitate to buy both at the same time.

@@invividcolor I remember playing X and Y when they first came out. It was my first game as a young adult and the first game I really had an easy time with. It was also the first release that i was a bit underwhelmed with. That said, online battling in XY was at its best, I had a ton of fun using super training and other new conveniences to actually have competitively viable teams - which was an awesome feeling. Even though the game was a bit underwhelming in terms of story and content (and personally I think the visuals still needed some work), it definitely brought a lot of improvements to the franchise. After watching your video I’m actually pretty excited to give it a try again by either attempting a hardcore nuzlocke or playing an enhanced version. Super long post but thanks for the reply, keep up the great content! Happy to be a new subscriber

Honestly I think one of my favorite poison types is Crobat! After using it in pokemon Alpha Sapphire I kinda fell in love with it 😅💖

I've used Crobats for at least 4 of my runs, including an EV trained one for a (failed) nuzlocke. They're absolute beasts!

kalos was the first pokemon game i ever beat (i own at least one game from every gen i was just too young to know how to beat it or didnt save) so ive always felt a special attachment to it, and a lot of kalos pokemon are my overall favorites

"becoming past tense" is probably my new favorite way to say "fucking dead"

Who else immediately thought of Breaking Bad when he named his oddish after the lily of the valley? Walt poisoned Brock with that flower.

I agree with what you said at the end, the random trainers in this game are harder than the gym leaders and elite 4

I happen to notice you missed Venipede on the route leading to the castle where you get the poke-flute, one of the best Poison type lines in the series in my opinion

I opted for the Oddish over Venopede on whatever route that was, but I think both are solid for the run.

I watch a lot of Nuzlockes and Pokémon videos. Never heard of your channel and rarely comment on anything. At 1:10 when you said your favorite types are Ghost, Grass, and Poison, I immediately subscribed. Those are my 3 favorites as well. Looking forward to more content and the rest of this video :)

I absolutely would've taken the bulbasaur if I was doing this run since gift pokemon are always viable in hardcore nuzlockes as long as it's the first mon for the area but in the end, challenge runs are about making the game more fun for you so props to you for sticking to how you feel and good luck with future runs.

Loved this video!! Would love to see a bug type hardcore nuzlocke in a game!

Yeah, EV training for the elite 4 was definitely what trivialised the end game there, should only do that in games where its actually challenging or in super hard runs like solo mon ones

I love the Kalos games for same reasons as you. I got back into Pokémon shortly before black 2 and white 2 came out and I remember how excited I was watching the Pokémon direct when x and y were announced

Man what a great video and a lovely challenge! And that double battle with the Machoke and Mr Mime, I also lost a Pokemon there, totally wasn't prepared haha! I also noticed while doing nuzlockes for the Kalos games, the random trainers were tougher than most of the bosses. Also also, Arbok would have probably done well here, it has intimidate, coil and really good coverage moves, but maybe that's just me liking Arbok so much haha

Here's a challenge I haven't seen yet! In Pokemon USUM there's several pokemon that you're able to play with and pet in the overworld. What about a playthrough with just those pokemon? (No evolving them) ( These pokemon include Rockruff, Pyukumuku, Comfey, Slowpoke, Sandygast, Stufful, Miltank, Pikachu, Murkrow, Corsola, Mimikyu, Meowth, Magnimite, Togedemaru, Spinda, Chargibug, Vulpix, Orangoru, Bewear, Dewpider, Pelliper, and Starmie) Giving you lots of different pokemon to use. :D

9:00 That's because Pokémon in the Unknown Egg Group have 3 perfect IVs in more recent games, which is mainly for legendaires but also gives them to baby Pokémon, it's pretty cool! (From what I've looked up Baby mons getting it is only in X and Y which is neat.)

I like the evil bosses and rival trainer fights. they might not be hard but they have an important unique reaction to each run

One thing I'd say to add, is checking the natures of your pokemon. Some of the monotype hardcore Nuzlockers show what they are and check them, and you can see from there if it's going to help or hinder you.

I’d love to see the wipes. It keeps the timeline feeling dynamic and on the edge of your seat.

Fun fact: baby Pokémon are guaranteed to have three perfect IVs. It's a very cool change!

I played Pokémon X awhile ago and I had a Nidoqueen on team that was the VIP (Very Important Pokémon) in many of my battles. Especially against Diantha's Gardevoir, as my Nidoqueen had the Rivalry ability and took a couple a of Sludge Bombs to take it out!

I'm new to this channel. But thank you for making a Brink reference. It's one of my favorite DCOMs

yk I've been watching alot of XY playthroughs and I now realize you can get a full team with barely catching any pokemon. Your kalos starters, Kanto starters, a fossil, mega lucario, lapras, and the cover legend.

Nightshade and Arsenic were just such clutch catches. Those two were just beats for this run.

I'm doing a poison only run of fire red rn! Weedle was also my starter but I had to beat brock with just a beedrill (decided not to use bulbasaur just because)

Fun Fact: in XY only, all wild baby pokemon has 3 perfect IVs since they are in the same egg group (Undiscovered) as legendaries

I agree with you on X/Y since it as really what got me into pokémon. Sure it was my second ever main series game but it just holds a special place in my heart for exciting me

Poison is a fun type for nicknaming. I did a run in firered and I had some names I really liked, like nightshade the vileplume, cyanide the nidoqueen, anthrax the nidoking, hemlock the venusaur, and anaphlaxis the bedrill.

Gym Fight,Rival Fight,Boss Fight,Mini Boss Fight And Some Fight Where You Also Most Lose Or Close To Fainting

I’m doing a psychic monotype playthrough of Kalos currently! I almost chose poison since there are so many cool poison types in gen 6 so I’m glad I got to see your run.

I think if I had a critique it’d be to take some breaths/ pauses. You are flying through the script/ run and I feel it’s important to let the audience process some of the information a bit every now and again. Just like a jazz musician won’t just keep playing notes over and over for a solo. They allow some space to go by. Just a suggestion/ my opinion. First video I’m seeing of yours so idk if this is a reoccurring thing or not.

It has it's moments where it can be pretty tough, but in general I agree with this. You get a ton of resources that help out pretty early on, and late game the amount of resources you have is insane.

XY is one of my favs too since it got me back into Pokémon and was the first 3D Pokémon game for mainline.

A Hardcore Nuzlocke with a competitive Nidoking (Sheer Force, Timid, Special moves)?!?! Sheeesshh
