Pokemon Ultra Sun but we made it far too difficult.

Twitch chat set like 100 rules and it made my first playthrough of Pokemon Ultra Sun awful. Fun, but awful.

I can understand a bit of German by proxy, just from knowing English and Swedish, and I'm pretty sure he's not making "random translations" but rather just getting the gist at a glance. The languages are structurally similar and share many nouns (with slight variations of course).

Team Skull is honestly the best part about the german localization (apart from Pokémon names, there's actually quite a few that I prefer over the english ones). The mix between modern slang and some random out-of-pocket words like "Balg" (a derogatory way to say "kid"), which is something I have never heard someone below the age of 45 say, just gets me sometimes.

  • @k-master973

@@samahissimplistic Team Skull are legit the only team that's comparable to Team Rocket as far as villain groups. Gen 7 in general is very underrated I think, they put more focus on the story and I'd say it has the best of the lot. The only real downsides are how much it hand holds you in the beginning, and how overall easy it is (which is a common issue since gen 6).

Fun fact: this is definitively the HARDEST Pokemon game at base. Most Boss Trainers actually have EVs and actual strategies (Elite 4 Molayne has a Klefki that T-Waves turn one and then sets Spikes) you first turn and sets up spikes) The only game with something similar would be the endgame spike of BDSP, where they have actual competitive sets.

@@ZeroRanger423 I'd personally argue that Platinum or HeartGold/SoulSilver are the hardest games in the series because of their less forgiving mechanics and potentially brutally difficult boss fights (Cyrus and Cynthia in Pt, and Clair and Red in HGSS, for example). Additionally there's no potential cheese systems like affection to save you. These games are definitely up there though, Guzma, Lusamine, and of course Ultra Necrozma are still very scary bosses without a doubt.

@@brendansage6876 the thing is, USUM gives EVs to every pokemon in every single boss fight, even the minor ones. All Guzma fights? EVed. All Hau fights? EVed. All those trainers you can only fight after beating everyone else on the route? *EVed.* USUM is genuinely brutal and the only way HGSS beats it is with its horrible level curve.

@@ZeroRanger423 Interesting, I didn't know that every trainer was EV'd up. I know that in Gens 4 and 5, several late game/final bosses are EV/IV trained (most obviously Cynthia, who's infamous for having a perfect EV/IV spread on her Pokemon). But giving EVs to basically everyone is pretty ridiculous, I'll concede. The top three games in terms of difficulty for me (Pt, USUM, HGSS) all are very close so I could be misremembering some things. I need to replay these games, its been a while since I did a run of Gen 7 in particular.
