I personally always wonder: Do people actually try to collect a full set each time they come out? Or is it just the rarer cards? How many people do even genuinely collect the cards because they find the art on them nice? The more I came across recommendations or KZread shorts at random, a bunch of people seem only to care about the monetary worth of the cards which I find extremely sad somehow. If anything, I usually am happy for the particular fans that get their favorite franchis characters featured in a neat new selected design for a card, especially when an illustration is playful, or it so happens that they release a motif in a full arts layout/ give it the holo treatment. For me there are way too many cards out there to fully engage into the ripping boosters lottery system and I usually just end up looking for single cards every now and then. I now have this small two by two binder which holds a bunch of Totodile cards and another one with simply other Pokémon I found fun in the anime and games. There are also some custom made cards that friends surprised me with. I guess with selling card boosters you can have fun with the surprise effect of what is in such while sharing the experience with the buyers. It sounds like a good compromise.

There is definitely a "gambling" element to opening packs, MMM. Personally, if I am opening packs, I am happy to get anything shiny, but elated when I get top-tier pulls. Attempting to complete master sets is for collectors with deep pockets. I don`t complete sets, as I stay in my (financial) lane. All in all, there is plenty of room for every kind of collector is in this hobby. If you want to have a master set of every new set, and you have the means to do, why not? If you are happy collecting your favorite Pokemon, that is perfectly fine, too. You do you, MMM. Pika Pika P3ace!

@@PokeMavenIt's not you, but moreso the people that KZread recommends me somehow. It makes my eyes roll at times how people rip into the boosters and go "Trash...trash...trash..." over anything that isn't rare. And there are simply a lot of people like that nowadays that seem to only go for an investmen, it feels like. Maybe I am just seeing things there. Anyways, thanks for the reply.
