I always thought stats moves that lowered or raised stats were permanent, so after any battle, I would always check their stats.

A misunderstanding I had was that I thought honedge evolved when you had 2 of them in your party and have them level up once. In my defense i thought it didn’t make sense how 1 sword can evolve into 2 swords

For me, Pikachu always had a black tail, I still remember the day that I realized it changed, when I'd told friends we'd all freaked out. It just changed one day, and it never went back to "normal". Pikachu will always have that black tail in my heart. I also remember when the - between KitKat disappeared, it will always be Kit-Kat to me.

I blame Rocketchu for people thinking Pikachu had a black tip to its tail before ORAS.

The dumbest misinfo I believed was that moves that changed special stats did nothing. I thought everything used Attack and Defense and had no idea that there were Special Moves.

A few of my misconceptions are mandela effects sort of... - Thinking that Mesprit was spelt Mespirit, and Spritzee was spelt Spiritzee - Thinking friendship existed in Red/Blue because I swore an NPC told me in those games. Aand that's all I could find. I did have a few more misconceptions but those weren't caused by mandela effect.

For me, it was the opposite for Pikachu, i thought the beginning of it's tail was all yellow instead of a little brown

1:56 all of these examples are ai art (except the last one). The ai must have messed up the tail and the user that made it never said it was ai.

I was hoping someone pointed this out. There are just multiple red flags in the art and decisions that an artist would not make (Best example is the first one where the back ear in the pikachu/pichu hybrid thing under pikachu is larger than the one in the front. Any artist at that skill level would know that’s not for perspective works. Lesser examples are how on the second one the red cheek pouches wouldn’t really be showing up like that on a back view, but ai would add it since most art of pikachu has the red cheeks. The third the clouds and tail are pretty big giveaways. The tail just has like no shading and looks like a sticker, while the clouds just look wrong.) It’s sad ai being used so much and not being disclosed if it’s been used. And it’s to the point where most people can’t tell or don’t bother because it looks good enough.

The Pikachu-tail paradox could stem from the tail's base being a dark-ish brown. Since with this explanation the mixup typically happens at a very young age, as your early memories fade it might seem as if the tail was always black-tipped (or used to be) since the wrong-tailed version might be the oldest memory of Pikachu you have left-thus creating a Mandela effect. I think I had this happen to me when I once tried to draw Pikachu from memory back in my early childhood, and since I didn't use a reference (didn't even have a phone to get a reference image with), I coloured Pikachu's tail's tip black. Noticably, I remember drawing it with that serrated edge the actual tail's base has, because I knew there was something like that there. Back then it felt like a natural placement because I was a barely cognizant toddler, but I remember keeping that belief for long after I could have corrected that misconception and now I don't remember how I saw Pikachu before that.

I know this may sound dumb or like I'm crazy, but pikachu's tail did originally have a black tip, and that is why pichu's tail is black. I remember before gen 2 came out. When it did, I thought "wow that's interesting, they gave pichu a black tail to match the tip of pikachu's". I know that it doesn't now, but i will swear till I die that it did. Onix the pokemon is spelled with an i. Onyx the rock is spelled with a y. Onix was spelled with an i to distinguish it from the rock.

I had a friend come to me when we were seven and try to convince me that pikachu had indeed a black tail. Now, I'm autistic and random info without an actual source never really worked on me (especially if it's been clearly proven otherwise), so I was just like "What the actual fxck are you on about bro". Man, no joke, I literally spent like four years trying to prove the truth, but in the end I just gave up.
