It's so fitting how sad this music is. It's essentially about a kid who runs away from a rich and comfortable life into poverty because of a parent who's gone crazy. You can feel Gladion's sorrow through it. His mom used to have a heart of gold and now it's dangerous to even be around her. How do you even handle that at his age?

He was a better rival of sorts than Hau in my opinion. He still was a pushover, but he was a bit more defined as a character rather than " FOOD IS GOOD. I GO LOOK FOR FOOD NOW".

Ben Semegran He's the only rival. Hau is a friend. I suppose you think Wally, Bianca and Shauna etc. we're rivals too somehow even though Brendan/May, Cheren, and Calem/Serena were the ones holding the rival position. Gladion's theme is the only music file named rival in this game while Hau's says he's the friend (meaning the devs are telling us who is what and they are not to be argued with). Also, rivals always have the weakness for your starter - just like Gladion's Silvally.

I think Gladion's theme might be my favourite rival battle music ya know. There are some really great ones, but I never get tired of hearing this!

It's been quite a while now since this was first uploaded, and I remember listening to this for the first time in a hotel room while visiting a university that I ultimately chose to attend. I'm sitting here in my dorm now, not too far from that hotel, and listening to this again makes me remember how much my life has changed since then.

+Jared Cochran I know... If you look over your head you will see the elusive joke flying past you at a speed that would make it much easier for any other person to catch it. I merely tried to correct you because weaboo makes absolutely no sense in any sense of using it. As a joke it falls flat. It makes no sense if you were using it to describe OP Jared since he didn't even comment on anything like Japan being superior and him wanting to renounce his ethnicity to become one (yes a weaboo is this not someone who is obsessed with anime if you were being an ignorant dunce), and finally I had to assume you were talking about Gladion so I changed the word to Woobie since it makes the most sense, and it actually describes him (technically Iron Woobie describes Gladion, but I digress). In any case be proud, because I usually don't explain myself to people, but weaboo is a word I've seen many people use in the wrong context and you, sir, were no exception.
