I did enjoy your video. It's good to share your feelings on POGO or whatever your feeling at the time. Your love of green is because you are wishing for green things, not money (well maybe) but green in nature. New green grass, trees with green leaves, sunny days (well thats yellow but you get my point). I'm 60 and from Pennsylvania. I've only been playing for almost 2 years (July 30th will be 2 years and pretty much every day) but I have noticed the ups and downs watching all the trainers on KZread. You, Nick, Billy, Zoe, Tom and others. It's always the first 5 months of the year. Everyone is bummed out because of the events and the weather REALLY drags you guys down. Chin up Dax, Your only 23 going out on your own for the first time. You will adjust to the new things that are coming your way.

New Pokemon aren’t released fast enough. The same mons, in every event. Local raids just don’t work. Events that contain Pokemon unrelated to the theme when others would be far more suitable. The new avatars are nightmare fuel. Regional raids need to be swapped round. Remote raids need restoring to what they were. Community days need to be extended to six hours minimum. Groups - anybody?? No? Thought not. Raids hanging around for too long -Two weeks (sometimes longer), nobody cares after the first week. Repetitive raids - can it be long before we get Heatran again… Niantic need to stop trying to force us to play the game the way they want it played. That’s just what came out of my head in less than a minute. I could go on.

Raid hour is close to useless or dead if you don't live in major citys like New York and so on. Raids are almost impossible to find people to join your fight after the first 3-4 days, unless the raid boss is now. I agree with every point you wrote, except remote raid pass nerf. It was a healty nerf to the game, but instead it highlight the massive problem for people and players outside any major cities not being able to enjoy the game. The remote pass should be changed to something else than what it is now as it limit the gameplay too much at its current state, but i cant tell how or what to

The game is fun when youre a returning player or play very casually when you have alot of unacomplished targets. The problem is when you start to play more actively and participate in all the events it starts to feel like theres nothing to do because content arent released fast enough. I recently got into a community of players, that helps in making things interesting but i know its gonna tapper off and people will eventually quit or become less active one by one. Thats happened too often. Hopefully they release the pokecenter thingy and add more things for people to do.

I'm a level 50 player with over 500 million xp. I've been playing since July 2016. I'm honestly burned out from grinding (463 streaks and counting). I don't use an auto catcher, but still catch at least 300 Pokémon a day. I'm only sticking around in the hopes that level 60 will be released. If it is, I will walk away when I reach it. Or when there's a level requirement I won't live long enough to achieve. Or if level 60 isn't released by my 75th birthday in September. I have so many other things I want to do with my time and my money. I guess I like being a top-tier player. My resentment stems from the gradually increasing cost of the game. I went ftp for three months and saved enough to pay for my wife's trip to Europe! At 74, the grind just gets harder and harder. I do want to thank you, though. You've been my favorite content provider for at least three years. You've added a lot to my knowledge, preparation, and enjoyment of the game. Even if I stop playing, I'll probably still catch your videos to see what's going on with the game. Just my two cents' worth.

Daxi, Pokémon Go stuff side, it’s very cool that you’re so candid with your viewers about seeing a therapist - lots of men (though not only men!) struggle in silence with all kinds of issues because they believe it’s shameful to ask for that support or because they think therapy is stupid, but therapy can really help lots of people get through some tough times or just learn more about themselves. Not all forms of therapy or individual therapists are equal and some will be better suited to different people and different struggles - so if you try a therapist and you think they suck, don’t hesitate to try a different therapist! Life is challenging but it doesn’t always have to be a struggle! ❤

I think Niantic finds the oddest Hills to Die on. They had players "Beta Testing" the new avatars way before the global release. Instead of hearing that the community didn't like the change, they brushed off the criticism and still released it globally and acted surprised that no one liked the roll-out. They could of held off on the update, gone back to the other company to make tweaks and fixes, and released a better version on a later date. It was their choice to push out an update that clearly needed more tinkering. It's just classic Niantic to not listen to their players and continue to push out changes and updates despite the initial backlash so it ends up being global backlash.

There's a reason devs who left Niantic keep repeating one thing - Niantic is a tech company, not a game company. Their leadership has no clue what makes a good game at all. Which is why we frequently have to suffer update after update that is anti-player and just makes the game worse. They even squander the only reason they all still have a job - the Pokemon license. If Nintendo had any chance and this game wasn't built on Niantic tech, they'd have pulled the game from them a LONG time ago. They could literally release a new Pokemon every week and not run out for 5 years or so (in which time, there will be new ones released in main games), yet we see the same Pokemon every day and the exciting ones locked behind game "features" like in person raids, that just suck and/or don't work for 99% of players.

While they certainly launched as a tech company, they have been doing this for nearly 8 years. So on experience alone, I would indeed definitely call them a gaming company by now. A bad game company, but a game company nonetheless. With many of the employees being game employees from other companies. The problem is the senior leadership; arrogant and close-minded, along with no understanding of the need to be customer focused.

Its exactly the same for me. Two things that are bothering me are 1. I feel like I missed a lot of cool stuff and events and the period where remote raiding was good. 2. I feel like there are generally the sameish pokemon in the wild. The rediscover kanto is fun atm but I'd like to see way more variety than this. When the wonders season began I had high hopes for a very different wild pool only to see half of the last season pokemon still in the wild. I feel like they should give the season more of a character and theme. Rediscover kanto event feels more like a 'season' than the actual season imo.

Here in India, it gets so unbearably hot during the summers that going out in daylight just to play pokemon go is off the table. I have missed so many events (especially the comm days) because of the 2-5 limit, which is the peak temperature window. Opposite to the regions close to the poles, winters are the better season to play Pokemon Go here. Niantic not only has software aspect of the game to improve, but they also need to get better at ensuring a tailored user experience across the globe. So much unharnessed potential, smh.

I appreciate your candor on the positive and negatives. I play a few mobile games and this negative “is the game dead? Are players quitting?” always happens with end game players. I think sure for those that have played since day 1 do feel the events being stale or repetitive, but for new and or returning players (myself included) these things feel new and exciting. Updates are almost never perfect at first go and feedback is what they need, not all the content creators shi**ing on these changes instead of being the voice of the player and trying to influence us to see the forward motion. I mean look where the game started and where it is now. I was so grateful coming back 3 months ago compared to when I quit 7 years ago from burnout and the awful grind. There’s progress here and it’s so fun. I always loved the community this created when the game launched and I hope this returns vs everyone wishing for remote raids to go back to pandemic times. People staying in their cars or just sitting on the couch isn’t what made me fall in love with this game or what antic set out to do. I have made great connections and this has helped keep me off a couch so much. I am thankful for the original ideal of this game and I hope at least a comfortable middle comes. Thank you for not spending your video just being negative. Don’t worry about being 23 and not knowing what you’re doing, none of us do and that’s okay you seem like you are taking all the right steps to move forward and figure it out and if you come to 30 and still don’t know, who cares. Everyone is on their own journey and yours is just as colorful as any. Appreciate you and being vulnerable enough to share your personal journey. ❤

I agree. I hate the fact that all the pokemon go content creators just focus on the negatives, but if you stay on the positive side, you can see how great of a game it is. Also, people are getting lazy and that’s why they want things to go back to it being like the pandemic.

  • @ItsClarkbar

    @ItsClarkbar

Incorrect both of you. It’s not about laziness, it’s about accessibility and availability. Not everyone has access to gyms because they are in super rural areas or if there is a gym close enough, they might not have enough to beat it on their own. In other cases and in mine, health might be a factor of why they can’t get out as much. As far as availability goes, many people can’t get out to go on location because they have work or school or childcare. Remotes made it easier for people to participate in raids they otherwise couldn’t. There is a lot more at play than just “laziness.”

I am on board with the fact that because you are a content creator you have probably been grinding so hard that the game has gotten stale but for me I always plsying the events trying for that shiny I don't have or possibly picking up that hundo I've played since day one and I still don't have a shundo my Kanto dex still has shinies missing including all the legendary birds I'm in no way lazy but finding time to go to raids is not always possible but just this past year my daughter was givin an old phone so she could play pokemon go with dad and watching her raid and catch shinies so much fun she's a new player she has so much to do so these old stale events are new to her and that makes them fun for me

Agreed Johnny and something I should of mentioned - my perspective is definitely from a longer term player. It's that saying where like if you never knew what it was like before you'll be grateful for what it is now. Like most new players will never know what it was like with remote raids

The problem I run into as a returning player, is that I live in a rural community and there are hardly any people playing Pokémon Go. I also live near the largest metropolitan city in my state, and even on Groudon and Kyogre raid days, I couldn’t find people to raid with in that city. There is no community around me it seems, which makes it impossible to do the shadow raids, and I have to spend too much real life money to shiny hunt the legendary raids.

It's hard to get excited when "new Pokemon" are only ever added nowadays through eggs, research, or raids. The last time I remember a Pokemon being available in the wild and shiny released at the same time was Yungoos (I was lucky enough to get a Hundo and a Shiny that same weekend of release and it also came out with a TON of Alolan mons at the same time). The "slow drip process makes it really hard to continuously stay invested and instead leads to a "I don't need to play this event because _____" or a "how come this event doesn't have _______". The days of adding to the dex are few and far between now and the hunt for hundos is losing its appeal in a big way. Still playing, still watching content like yours, but definitely feeling the meh of it all. Thank you for the vids and bummed I didn't see you in LA for Sinnoh Tour!

Edit: Like for real, they just added biomes and were like "Beach gets a new pokemon and the rest will just be kanto stuff." They could have afforded to give us 1 new pokemon per biome for such a big update, am I wrong? The lack of motivation is that everything is now behind a paywall. Majority of the events involve raids/eggs. Local only raids suck. Incubator boxes are only occasionally worth it & hard to justify when you’re only gunna get a Pawmi,Lickitung, Lechonk or Smoliv. GPRS fail glitches when you’re out and about always happen. “Error claiming rank rewards” after most PVP sets. The game isn’t dying because of the players leaving. The game is in this state because niantic cannot get the fundamentals right. The remote raid increase isn’t the worst of it, however it was certainly the start. You should not be limited on how you play any game. Price hike is frustrating but the issue is people will always pay it. It is the limiting that is the problem. This game has far too many limits. It could be fixed by simply things like - rotating the eggs more frequently rather than once per season OR allowing us to delete eggs. - adding a casual pvp mode for once your battle sets are finished (where you can battle random people that aren’t on friends list) - removing restrictions on players who have previously brought tickets (Diance & Mew spring to mind) - allow remote raids for everything but keep the price the same - remove the cap on remote raids or increase it so people CAN raid whenever they want These are just simple things that maybe not everyone agrees on but could certainly see people doing things other than Logging on, daily pokestop, daily catch, pvp battles, buddy hearts and then connecting to the go plus and forgetting about their day. We want to play the game, however we want to play how it suits us, not to play the same way & have our own personal restrictions.

Very timely video. Everyone is feeling this. Ironically, at the same time when we're being bombarded with event after event after event. Instead of focusing on the game being great they forgot to make sure it's good first. This game feels like a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream on top with sprinkles but after shoving my spoon in it's just whipped cream and sprinkles. And then to improve it they just keep throwing more sprinkles on top. Just give us the ice cream already!!!

As feedback/input, I have been with a lack of motivation since I hit 50 (about a year ago). I started the week it released in july 2016. I experienced this exact same lack of motivation after hitting 40 when there wasnt much else in the game at the time before the level limit was raised to 50. I actually put the game down for over a year since I felt I basically beat it at that time. I still get on multiple times a week to spin or catch casually especially if something is new or event based where it wont be around soon, but the only time I have actually grinded or spent dedicated time/being excited/hooked onto it was when I had a structured goal within the game (reaching the next level). That is completely just the way that I played, others of course have other motives that keep them playing. The seasonal thing you mentioned is 100% true, the best events are usually when the weather is best. I agree with that. I have never spent much in the game, only money ever really went to expanding storage when I was deep into the game starving for more storage. The times that I 100% chose to play and had fun (after reaching max level in the game) was any time that I traveled out of town. That was one way to enjoy the game again, but most people cant just get up and go travel the world. Once they bump that max level to 60, I think it will ignite some peoples interest again. I never was hugely focused on filling the dex 100%, or chasing all shinies, IV's, etc, enough to grind like I used to just for my level. My other concern is how many more pokemon are they still holding out on to release into the game? At some point there wont be any new pokemon to add, maybe just remaining shiny variants, but at that point what will be the game plan to keep it exciting? We will see. Events are not a bad concept, but my MAIN issue is this game sees events back to back to back with no breaks inbetween. I think the spawn pools need to be 2-3x more diverse atleast species wise. Too much repetition. I have spent so much time with this game over all the years, anytime I traveled around the world I was able to obtain what I consider digital souveneirs that I get to keep forever (regionals etc). I will always remember the game, all the friends I met and played with, and I hope the game continues to exist for the forseeable future, to be able to login in 30 years and check everything out again. Who knows. I dont stay in tune with all the content creators but watch here and there. Enjoyed this vid Daxi.

My personal experience with Pokémon Go lately is turning the game on multiple times a day just to catch what's spawned near me and turn it off. I barely ever raid since the few people in the community I played with do their own thing now. I usually get 1 of a new raid boss if possible. Slow roll out of new pokemon or new shiny ones is unmotivating. 7+ years playing, and I only enjoy global go fests or in person events near me. Hearing you just talk and doing your thing and the cool environments in that 1 on 1 setting really gave a different vibe and I put this video on in the background while doing my morning routine. Loved it very much.

I like the rythm they've had with seasons and events lately, you get a super hyped season full of new shinies, pokemons, legendaries, mechanics, and then one a little more calmed, then I don´t feel burnt out by a big event after another. I think if i have to skip a big event because of a real life event and then another and another, I might as well stop playing, but this way we can have a little break to keep up with life and then come back super excited with something huge I still play daily on a more relaxed mode

My play dropped noticeably after the avatar debacle. It bummed me out so much and I just cannot stand to see my avatar now. Where I used to be motivated to go out and play, now I want to walk around and see that poopy pants waddle as little as possible. Even the lovely catch screens haven't made it better. The events are definitely meh but things rotate so frequently and I'm only just level 40 so I have those levels to motivate me still, but I'm a girly girl, I like my aesthetics, and what they did to the avatars really killed it for me. Girls definitely got hit 10x worse by that update than guys did too. Guys just got more boyish, girls literally got turned into men. XP😢

I live and work at a ski resort out in BC, so winter time is great for pogo. We have a pretty active local community plus a huge influx of tourists all winter and especially weekends when events and raid days happen. The chairlift is great for logging kms, and depending on how you ski through the day, you can hatch a ton of eggs while having fun on the hill. My favourite time to play is winter

Thank you for being honest and expressing your feelings :) 38 year old woman from Europe btw, so it seems I am an exception in your audience XD I started playing back in 2016, and oh boy was it great to experience that summer when we were closer to world peace than ever before. So many people out and about, having a blast... But that dwindled down fast. Most friends quit after gofest Dortmund, which had many issues with people not being able to log in at all. I also took a break for a bit, as I didn't have others to play with. I am in a remote location, and the local player community died out. I still play, mostly when I walk the dog. But I catch usually only a few pokemon and spin a stop or two on my walk. Raids? Hardly care to even bother. Especially if I can't solo them. In the past I did maybe a few raids per month, when we could meet up with others. Remote raid passes made it so much easier, as it meant Iwas no longer depending on time and space (lunchbreak and there is a raid on the other side of town? Let's join remotely). Killing the remote raiding means I am back to well... not raiding. Once a month maybe. And yeah sure, there are events and a new pokemon every now and than... I don't care that much really.

Returning player. 1.The research events are chores that give limited rewards not worth the grind. I find that I lose more than I gain trying to complete these events (stardust & Daincie) 2. The good stuff is hidden behind VERY challenging and inaccessibile raids. The fact that 5 star shadow raids cannot be remote passed make them impossible for rural players. 3. Remote raid nerf is a blatent money grab and put the most fun, exciting, and rewarding aspect of the game behind a pay wall. 4. Repetitive wild spawns are incredibly boring and not worth the Pokeballs. Overall, it feels like players are getting less and less for their time, energy, and money than ever before, while also spending more and more. The work-rewarding balance is way off.

My husband & I both welcomed our 3rd son & well life happened that I focused more on real life for a bit. I then picked up the game again in the middle of 2022 & had started to enjoy it once more. Videos like this make me wonder how people like you got into the game in the first few years. A game like this honestly requires people to run out and make their own adventures and a game like this is perfect for that. Go out and find a goal, use Pogo to explore a new town while discovering new pokemon and friends even if the constant events over and over and over aren't great at the moment

Great vid, Dax. I'm one of the few that enjoys the time between events - i like the random spawns. Aside from illness where i couldn't leave the house, I've played every day since 2016. I find escaping into the game for a few minutes a day (or as long as i can) helps me with my anxiety and stress levels that get really bad. Maybe one day I'll finally get a shundo!! Keep up the good work - you're my go-to channel for information .

I'm definitely excited for the summer events and I do agree that spring is quite slow for some of us. I find a few events here and there in the winter and spring that I enjoy- new shinies for me, hunting for hundo or PVP stats, and hatching eggs (I'm a runner all year so eggs can be fun!). I have to say I'm still puzzled why Gen 8 wasn't released. I was super excited for Scorbunny and we've yet to see him or the other starters. Right now my playing has decreased in frequency due to injury and a busy schedule. Dax-wishing you well in your training! I hope the race goes smoothly! Love that this series is back!

Avatar update, well said. Stacking buffs, not just the eggs that can do that but the incense's and star pieces too! My motivation comes from needing dust for powering up. I have a lot of really good mon I got past 12 months that need serious dust. I really love the coin purchase is at the top...really helpful if u get pulled into a remote raid and have to buy more coins (hated scrolling down to the bottom and missing raid). I am 51, still learning how to be an adult...really glad to hear you're into self development. I read a lot of books, done lots of programs and been through a lot. Stick with it. I knew you were doing something, I noticed the beginning of this year you being different. More active in your channel (comments) and how you present yourself. Word of advice, be yourself, don't carry baggage and remember to smile. I do agree, lots of the content is repeated and not in a good way. An example, past 2 years we got lots of looks at certain megas while in the same time we didn't see others. Definitely could do a better job at putting better variety out, I mean we're already seeing Tapu Fini back...new move but lets get other things newer players hasn't seen. I get it, kinda of important to balance out Palkia but on the other hand plenty of others we could see. If you ever need to chat, you can message on Twitch...I really don't do social medias.

I don't think it's these "boring" events, Daxi. It's what these events sit upon, which is a very lackluster game right now. Niantic has gone out of their way by alienating their player base with corporate decisions, LYING, hiking up prices wherever they can to make up the loss of remote raid sales, markets like Turkey just got a rude awakening with a nearly 15% shop price increase, new Pokémon are released via eggs/raids/evolutions, and features/tools like raids, trading, nests, Campfire continue to not get updated for today's player. That's just some of the issues. I ask you, who from 2020 would still be hyped to play this game in 2024?

Since Go tour on February, how many new pokemon have been released? Poipole- you can get one and only Charcadet- locked behind specific 10 km eggs, no true method of grinding 10 km eggs Shiny Litten and flabebe- OK. Shiny sandile- again, locked behind 12km eggs Shiny wimpod- OK, Celeseela and Kartana- locked in raids and remote raids nerfed. Mega Heracross- nice but not everybody have free Saturdays so if you missed it... Wiglett- cool but locked behind specifix biome. Field research have been stale lately and in this season overall especially if you don't play PvP. So, what can we really grind for the last 3 months? Plain XP and stardust?

I mostly play between work and home and vice versa. Sometimes I go for a walk in the evening because it's hot during the day. And also on trips and on days when I make personal arrangements. There is really no interest in the game and all the events Niantic does, just not good and I am a player since June 2016. I mostly play to find shiny pokemon and if I'm lucky then I'm happy and if not I continue the day without having fun even if I found what I was looking for or not. I hope Niantic will stop doing the things they are doing and start investing in more desirable things instead of raking in money from people and getting rich on our backs.

i really enjoyed this video of you giving your real thoughts on the state of game and how you feel about it. pretty personal. personally.i play for the challenges that the game has, for example, become best buddy of certains pokemons, maxing your favorites, doing solo raids to test those Pokémon's you maxed out. also enjoy PVP. but for content, seasons, spawns, i hardly catch Pokémon's nowadays, only in comm days, i find myself skipping most raid bosses. specially when they are new, since they dont have shiny activated, no legacy move, so it's in like the 3rd time when its actually worth to do a raid boss. i play the game, as an extension of my day, but nothing happens when i dont want to go outside and walk long distances. its a mix between the adult life and niantic doing so little to encourage people to play it with fun included

I think the main part of the game that I dislike right now is how long the bad raid bosses stay around and how short the good ones do. As a newer hardcore player it would be a lot more fun if I didn’t have to grind to the point of misery to get the pokemon I need to get for high level raiding and then have to wait for 2 weeks not raiding at all as a tapu is in rotation. Remote raiding would make that issue a lot easier in reducing the misery when raiding like crazy. I am usually the one that says the people complaining about remote raids are lame and need to grow up but I am starting to sympathize with them more and more. I also really enjoy soloing or at least being able to do the higher tier raid bosses. To do that you need the high level meta relevant pokemon which means more monotonous grinding. Stardust is also a big issue.

i used to play with my friend every day, battle and do the 100 trades, but we haven't done much since six months ago ish. Game feels boring, stale and just the same as always. In my situation it got enhanced by a 30 day ban i received, without Niantic responding to what caused it, and a few days after 30 day ban was gone, i received another 30 day ban, still without a reply from the first, or the second, from Niantic yet, and it's five month ago. A few days later the second 30 day ban was gone tho, so i'm afraid to even play the game as i spent too many years and dollars for it to be lost due to an issue with Niantic. Also, the never ending bugs, glitches and issues during new events, seasons, spawns or whatever, you can't help but feeling that Niantic is around the corner messing something up and there's nothing you can do, and that feeling really kill the fun of playing. The remote pass nerf is kinda okay at this point, i haven't spent a dime since, so my playstyle is pretty relaxed now, but still, Niantic messing up or the feeling that they are about to is in my opinion is the biggest issue and threat to the games entire help and future, and it doesn't look like Niantic is able to fix themself.

We had a fantastic March with Groudon, Kyogre and Mewtwo, honestly April, May or possibility June is unlikely to top the events in March. Furthermore, the Grunt leaders spawns are non-meta, hence there isn't really a lot of good reasons for me to play heavily now with these Kanto spawns. So its a good break time!

I slowed down alot cus it's been hot af outside where I live. also I live in a neighborhood, literally have 2 gyms just close enough to walk, near me. Otherwise I have to travel to a place that has a good cluster of gyms and pokestops. So I run out of pokeballs often. Also my buddy and his little girl started playing awhile back and they live in a neighborhood with the same problem. So they run out of pokeballs too. Not tryna buy pokeballs just to catch some random pokemon in my neighborhood. Gotta be a pretty good event to get me out the house to go sweat and get eatin alive by the bugs lately.

I’m a day 1 player. Played so much during year one (as I’m a gen wunner) I started my pokemon journey in 1999 on my gameboy color w blue so I was hyped for the game to come out. I remember being genuinely excited to go out and find an electabuzz at a local park near where I used to live in California. I moved back home to the north east and played very sporadically, over the last 3 years I’ve become very active. I’m more into the game now because I love the idea of catching a pokemon in real life in the game and transferring it up to the switch games and building it competitively.

I think with videos being down, it comes down to variety and effort. Transferring shinies is kinda played out IMO but setting up interesting challenges or finding out new ways to play, thats interesting. Your videos motivated me to try new and exciting things

I've been playing since the game came out and my motivation comes from good events. Good events also drives a lot of other people in my area as well which I need for raid days. I play every community day sometimes not the whole time or hardcore and play weekly events based on spawns. I live outside of town if there is no good events or spawns I don't bother going in town to play. (city of 100k metro of 300k+ btw) and I've seen overall a decline in players.

Ever since I hit level 50 I have just been going through the motions with the game. Only grinding when there’s a new shiny or one I need with “boosted odds” that I always get every shiny but the boosted one. Are you doing the park every day in New York?

I’ve been a casual player since 2018. A couple of months ago my interest level in the game hit rock bottom for various reasons not all game related. I don’t miss the game at all. Most of my friends that played and got me started have also slowed their playing time down to almost nothing.

I used to be a hardcore player, I quit a couple months ago because this game has nothing to offer anymore. I completed my kanto shiny dex and caught 800 different shiny species. you get to a point where you realize you wasted years on this game. and now look at it, people don't wanna let go but I think its getting close to the end of PoGo this game is extremely boring and repetitive and it doesn't help when you of course got Niantic being annoying every step of the way

I don’t know I feel this but at the same time I have a good community with me. For example groudon and kyogre raid days we had like 100 players at our local park catching the primals so hard for me to relate to this

I feel like the events recently have failed anyone who doesn't play a lot because before you could just go out and find wild Pokemon bound to the event, but now you have to do all of this field research, which goes over most people's heads. Also getting any shiny from field research is just so tedious and worse compared to wild spawns. And even events with wild spawns like reveal week right now don't make a difference to even hardcore players, which is sad because it could be so much better.

I've been playing every day since day 2. I grind as much as I use to, but I basically incorporate Pokemon to my daily life. For example, I'll turn it on when I go for a walk. I'll turn it on when I stand in line somewhere or waiting for someone to show up at dinner or something. And because I played almost every day, I feel like I caught everything already. At the end of the day, how many shiny Rayquazza do I really need. I still plan on playing for a while as long as there is some sort of free aspect to the game.

The big problem for me is that shadow raids require local players. I cannot, for the life of me, find an active group near me. Unless this gets changed, I will never be able to participate in them at all.

My pet peeve (uncanny valley avatars aside), is the way the t5 shadow weekend raids work- there are plenty around where I live, IF they were either solo'able for lv50 players or we could invite others to join, but they aren't & we can't so I have not done a single T5 shadow raid outside of raid days since last year, as trying to get enough players together to do a raid on very short notice during the weekends when people have work, kids, sports & family commitments that rightly come before playing a game, is a massive issue- if not proving to be downright impossible when living in a township or smaller/more spread out city with a lower population density. I do not know why Niantic have not implemented a T5 raid hour either every weekend or at least once per month, given their supposed core concept is to get people out exploring & interacting... Having T5 shadow raid hours would accomplish both those things to a higher degree on a global scale than the current 'random' nature of them, as if everyone knows that at a specific time on a specific day, for 1 hour not only will they find T5 shadows to raid, but they are more likely to find other players wanting to do said raids, people are more likely to go out & seek the raids, which makes them more assessable, as well as providing opportunities for more players to connect & interact locally, more frequently, which is likely to increase PoGo engagement as a result, creating a bit of a positive feedback loop. The one feature they've added that I do really like, is the 30min respawn for T5 raid hour every week- I now walk to a local park to do raid hour, rather than drive all the way into town thanks to the respawn.

"Fun" fact: the avatar update was actually entrusted to a second company external to Niantic, whose employees were massively laid off after the community backlash on the update - layoffs not necessarily related to the latter, but it's a good-to-know piece of info imho. There's been discussion of Niantic still pushing the update after they received feedback from beta testing. This whole situation isn't helping their image at all. I just hope eventually something wakes them up.

@@AustrianPainters_TopGuy very wrong do you know what the definition of entrusted is? Means given responsibility in doing something, niantic has the final decision in they’re the ones making the updates and decisions the ideas might come from somewhere else but they’re the ones making them and putting them into the games, my guy just tried using a big word he didn’t know the definition to if he’d simply put the idea came from so and so wouldn’t have even commented but the word intrusted means you gave the full responsibility to someone and that’s not the case at the end of the day niantic has the last say so yea it’s wrong

I do think some months are very dry, but my community is incredibly more active since we've gotten more and more stops. also even if this month hasnt been amazing getting stuff like shadow groudon and the primal raid days really popped off, this current event is sorta whatever but im still enjoying it. I do think there are things they can work on for sure

I'm sure there are plenty that play the game that don't watch youtube. I've been playing near daily for 4 years the only days I missed were was something coming up and couldn't get on on or was too cold out, although I did go out for Porygon community day with just a winter coat, no gloves or snow pants was a bit cold being almost 0 out on top of the windchill only played an hour before my phone died and went out for Chansey community day was cold then too and can't say I've been too interest in recent events and the last few new pokemon have been either locked behind raids or in eggs. I'm also level 50 haven't used a Mega yet waiting for Lucario got the Shundo ready since I wanted Lucario to be the first, unless Mega Ninetales comes out with the new game then that will be first.

I think they had a good thing going for the game and got many people to return. but like with what you said i do think that with them adding bad events and updates that everyone just hates they might have ruined the chance they had at getting loads of people returning making everyone leave again. but i do think a lot of those new players and ones who have returned i feel they are here to stay because last year when i returned during the summer time there wasnt much people active at all but now i think its getting back to being good
