Instead they keep making a bunch of Pokemon look closer to their shinies, Gengar's shiny used to not suck, but they kept desaturating him till he basically looks like the shiny. A similar thing happened with Paras.

They should. I know not how these 'Shinies' are even approved. Shiny Armarouge and Ceruledge are absolute embarrassments and the only ones that I actually refrain from hunting. To think that Game Boy Color technology generates better Shinies. Shiny Armarouge and Ceruledge should both be teal to represent the Teal Mask.

Not getting mint green blue gem espeon should be considered a war crime

An interesting example: look at shiny Gengar. In Gen 2 when the sprite was primarily black, shiny Gengar had a noticeably more blue-tinted purple for the edges than regular and pink eyes. Then in Gen 3 and 4, regular Gengar was more pink and shiny was a dull purple with faded red eyes. HGSS is where regular Gengar lost its pinkness to be a cooler purple, and with 3D models they were nearly identical.

What they did to Espeon was a criminal act that to this day goes unpunished >:c

I actually enjoy shiny Espeon because it reminds me of an alien- which if you ask me- really suits the psychic typing

Porygon's first shiny: Looks great and is a nod to old graphics Porygon's second shiny: Color scheme glitches are commonly associated with Porygon's third shiny: "Hey, look at me, I'm blue and pink!"

Still thinking about the Clefairy line shiny from the Beta version of Silver/Gold. It was probably due to palette limitations back in the day, but they were gorgeous ;w;

The creator of og shiny: Alien green? No,no, no, no. Espeon was supposed to have icy blue fur, greenish eyes and sapphire like gem. Espeon: I could have been blue?! The creator: I told the company, I wrote it down so they wouldn't misunderstand Espeon: I COULD HAVE BEEN BLUE?!?!?!

I can see why people prefer the original color, but I honestly don't get why so many people hate Espeon's shiny. I think the alien look works really well on it.

I miss Purple Charizard. There are too many “black dragon shinies.”

I'm with you. Purple Charizard was one of my favorite shinies ever and I'm still salty that they changed it 20+ years later.

Cyndaquil/Quillava/Typhlosion used to have purple flames in Gen 2, but that didn't stick in the later games. Wish they still had those purple flames, would make shiny Typhlosion all that much cooler.

Should be noted, the GS demo still used the same limited palettes as RGBY, some of these shiny palettes were shared between many Pokémon who used the same palette, final GSC gives every single Pokémon their own palette afaik

Love Ponyta's current shiny! Wish Porygon kept grayscale and Stadium's Espeon is far superior

They had better change the modern Shinies because they pale in comparison to the old ones. There is no excuse for 'Shiny' Armarouge and Ceruledge. Make both teal for the Teal Mask.

The cream colored shiny espeon looks very awesome! I know I'm gonna get hated for this, but in my opinion the green alien-like shiny is good! But I think the cream colored is a little better since the shiny green version is pretty saturated, but sometimes saturated colors can look great in certain conditions! :)

That Espeon one physically hurt.... A light yellow/cream shiny would've been so much better!

Purple Charzard reminds me of Barney

I'm in love with Espeon's Stadium shiny. I like the darker green it has now, but that blue is stunning.

I actually think shiny Espeon is cool for a very specific reason: I think the shinty colors given to it in gen 3 were based on a character from Final Fantasy 8. this character was the summon Carbuncle, a green cat-rabbit creature with a red gem in its forehead. This summon gives the player's team barriers of Reflect, which is a move that espeon gets in pokemon only starting in gen 3. Reflect and Espeon were both in gen 2, so these changes together make me strongly believe this is an intentional reference.

Anything is better than the bright green of Espeon

White and that Sun Espeon look so much cooler than the green one. Robbed.

I'm one of few people who despises shiny Ho-Oh, and my God, that sunset Ho-Oh we lost is the biggest kick in the teeth I've experienced this week. It's a perfect reference to its debut in the second episode of the anime, and looks way better than the hideous silver beak, comb and tail we're stuck with now...

Two things. 1) Ho-Oh debuted in the first episode, and not the second. 2) That was never meant to be Ho-Oh’s shiny colouration, it just looks that way due to the limited colour palettes that GSC had. Stadium 2 always had it with the silver crest and tail.

@@MarthaVsHumanity Fair enough on point #1. There was a lot of action in that first episode I weirdly remember it being in two parts. Point #2, though, there's an argument to be made: Stadium 2 went with a pale mint green for Espeon's model, where as the sprite from Gen' 2 is very clearly the harlequin green we know today. So, we could have had the sunset colours for Ho-Oh, but like with most shinies, the colours were adjusted at a whim across games.

Smeargle has had its shiny and non shiny palette swapped after gen 2

purple and green Charzard is actually an alt color in Super Smash Bros

All of the Demo ones weren’t intentionally made, they were all more or less discoloured versions of their original 2-tone sprites. The Gen 2 to Gen 3 ones came about as a result of an upgrade in colour palettes, and that’s why we’ve had hardly any shiny changes since then.

Most of the shinies changed between gen 2 and 3 thanks to the updated amount of colors. Whatever algorithm they had that created most shiny colors now had a lot more values to work with.

Shiny Murkrow in Pokemon Stadium 2 was my very favorite shiny and I was so upset when they turn it into a bright pinkish color. They could've at least did what they did in the original GSC sprites where it was dark purple with darker shadows.

Part of it can come down to the limited palette of the gameboy more than likely. If you can’t fit silver onto the Ho-Oh but can with tech upgrades you’ll do it.

Pokemon Reborn allowed me to catch all the gen 1-7 pokemon shiny. Gotta love the Glitter ball! 😂

Green Espeon is one of the best shinies change my mind

The 2 greatest pains in pokemon is golbat getting his tounge cut out. And charizard losing his amazing gen2 shiny. And espeon green shiny is amazing.

Pokemon stadium has a bunch of different color pallets, I wouldn't call them shiny per se because they don't exist outside of those games

honestly really like purple charizard. huge shame it got greyed out

I think it's also important to remember that the game boy advance had significantly more colors than the game boy color. So there's a good chance that a lot of the shiny colors they were intending to do, they simply just couldn't properly represent on the system

Old shiny Pokémon colours were chosen by the game code itself

I find it funny that Charizard's original shiny was the invert of Dragonite's shiny

I think some of the old shinies are good but I do wonder why they changed especially from decent to bad ones

Day 74 of asking- Could you make it to where the Applin line’s colors are reversed when they are shiny? So like with Appletun the apple on his head is green but the green portion of his body turns red. Same with dipplin and Hydrapple. Make the bodies that same orange/yellow/golden and make the apple green

Porygon's shiny is kinda one of the only ones that I kinda hate. The purple is nice but they didn't need to do such contrasting colors

barney charizard is cool. i did the coin case shiny glitch on so many of my virtual console pkmn. shiny Kingdra, magmar, magneton, porygon 2 and Nidoking are a few of my favorites.
