I loved that part too, Ash’s first time riding on a Legendary Pokemon.

2:48 That theme that legendary theme!... I get goosebumps everytime. Remember that part well Lugia flies along side like 'I got ya back bro, get on and let's get out of here' I remember being very jealous that Ash got to ride Lugia when i first saw it when I was young! xD

Im 30 and the whole Ash-Team Rocket_Lugia part is still one of my fave scenes in any movie EVER. Good-evil and nature working together to prevent the end of the world. So deep and no one really cares about this movie nowadays even though it is so relevant.

Heh, indeed. With the whole Pokémon GO thing where everyone was arguing over which team's the best I was like, have you all forgotten your childhood Pokémon lessons?! Disturb not the harmony of fire, ice or lightning! I feel like as a kid I got the first two Pokémon movies carved into my soul or something, and I kinda wish everyone had. They teach some very good lessons for how to be the best person you can be.

Haha, well said Kev. Rest easy knowing you're not alone, Pokémon left its mark on me for better or worse; I caved in after enduring the gen gap jump from 5 to 7 and bought a brand new 2ds for the sole purpose of playing bloody pokémon Moon.

It's funny how Team Rocket are the comic relief in the movies, but villains in the TV shows. Bottom line, they're antiheroes.

One of the best pokemon movies, and my favorite by far. God, I miss the original pokemon anime. The newer episodes just don't have the heart and strength that the original run did from Kanto to early Hoenn. I just really love the games nowadays, and completely ignore the newer movies and episodes.

3:55 is when the Team Rocket theme kicks in.

Team rocket, the forgotten hero of almost every movie, they literally let go of lugia fully expecting to hit the ice and die, all to give ash that extra second of speed

Wow. So much happens during this one song. Each part changes and fits the scene it was made for. Getting to make a second soundtrack after a movie is produced is really cool because of this. You can make it PERFECT.

I just rewatched this movie with my girlfriend, after not having seen 2000 since it first came out. AMAZINGLY hype moment!

This song is unbelievably awesome.

Hearing 2:48 makes me want to ride a psychic dragon bird and save the world.

i remembered a lot of people hating the english version because they replaced the soundtrack entirely.... but not me...i loved EVERY BIT of it when it premiered in theaters back in 2000. The first 3-4 pokemon movies are always going to be my favorite because of the altered soundtrack.

I admit I have a bias but this soundtrack is just the best. It screams urgency, epic feats, action, and sadness yet work together. The incorporation of Lugia's theme always gives me chills.

I love this movie. another one with VERY wise advice. I always thought the legend meant the real and Pokémon worlds would cease to exist from "the world shall turn to ash"

The piece from 2.48 sounds VERY much like the ending melody of Nemo by Nightwish.....But that song was released after this song.....rippoff!!!!

i remember this scene! ash is in a race against time to get to ice island, and hes gotta avoid constant blasts from the three birds. he gets the sphere, then jumps onto lugias back while lugia fires aeroblasts everywhere

Jessie: “We’re slowing Lugia down! The three of us are too heavy!” James: “Let’s try Weight Watchers!” Jessie: “It’s too late for that!” Meowth: “I heard it’s never too late if you really STICK TO THE PROGRAM!!”

I remember the first time i heard that I'm thinking to myself 'a real life organization in a fictionalized world where none of the countries in the real world exist.'

that part always gives me chills.....so musically well done it's breathtaking

Interesting thing about the sequence this track plays in Team Rocket realize that their weight is slowing Lugia down so they choose to sacrifice themselves to help Lugia and Ash save the world. They even lament on it as they're falling to their potential death. Jesse: Do you think that we did the right thing? James: I know we did the right thing Jesse and it feels great. Jesse: Let's not say goodbye. James: Let's just say... Meowth: We're gonna die! Fortunately they survive their fall into the icy ocean below them..

Team Rocket sacrificing themselves to let Ash and Lugia get to the island faster was the most noble thing I'd ever seen as a kid. I was so shook the first time I watched the movie cuz I thought they really were gonna die by ironically saving the world lol.

And then they feel sad that nobody saw they did something good but Slowking breaks the 4th wall saying "a lot of people saw what you did" and then they turn towards the audience... Man, how friggin epic was that? Especially as a kid

+Yamilian Gratacos This was before the Johto season, so before Ash learned to "properly" fly on Charizard's back right on the episode in which he leaves Charizard in the Charizardic Valley (or whatever it's called). As for not riding on Lugia... well, it's not like the Guardian of the Sea had to protect Ash from three legendary birds at once, right?

Best song in Pokemon and this is the best movie in Pokemon. Man, I just miss the old pokemon so much. I grew up with it.

This movie truly had some beautiful tracks, this one is my favorite and one of the reasons why it is the best of the pokemon movies.

Best pokemon movie ever! Ash the legend! Ash standing against legendary birds with the great guardian lugia!

And that's why I love this Pokemon movie. It's focused on Ash, and he's such a great character. :D And I love the name, Ash!! ^_^

I'm sure it was like the best thing in the world to watch this scene as a kid in the movie theater. Unfortunately, my parents were too lame to take me to the movies to watch this but I'm glad I was able to get it on VHS right after it left theaters. Can't even count how many times I abused the replay button on this movie as a kid. Still the best Pokémon movie ever till this day. Good times.

What if Lugia was introduced sooner in Gen 1 as a 150th Pokemon? Had Shudo Takeshi worked at GameFreak in the 1990s. While Mewtwo was the Mythical 152nd(after Mew's 151st)? And if both Mythicals were obtainable after showing Oak the completed Pokedex? How'd the first games have been like? And what if Bill met Lugia instead of Dragonite in season 1?

Ralph Schuckett is an absolute genius, it has to be said.

Also plays when Kyogre's ability activates.

I can't belive they didn't consider making a pokemon film with Raiku (thunder legendary dog) and Ho-oh. they did it with Lugia, Entai, Secune (sp) and Celebi.

There actually is a movie on Raikou, but its only in Japanese, wasn't dubbed in English though. I think it was "Raikou: The Legend of Thunder" or something

I love how the ancient spheres glow in Ash's hand. :) He truly is special.

I always loved Pokemon 2000 because it just had the most epic music! This song was always my favourite part of the movie (that and "The Legend Comes to Life" at the end).

Everyone here talking about how cool it was back in the days to see Ash riding on Lugia while that song plays. Right now I'm like here thinking to myself, "oh yeah, Trainer Red or Ethan can do it better."

The part at 2:11 plays in the Master Quest episode, "Address Unown", when Ash is trying to free Larvitar from its past. :)

I think it's because Ash is the more kid friendly version while Red acts a little more like a teenager. Also, since Red is based off of the video game protagonist, yes he has teamed up with Mewtwo and Articuno in the past. Most of Red's accomplishments overshadow Ash's because they showcase his power and ability as a trainer while Ash often fails or reverts to a lesser experienced character.
