Poison Ivy Identification Tips
Recognize Poison Ivy so that you can avoid it. Rhymes that help:
Leave of three, beware of thee.
Longer middle stem, stay away from them.
Side leafs like mittens, itch like the dickens.
Red leaves in spring, it's a dangerous thing.
Hairy vine, no friend of mine.
Berries white, danger in sight.

I unfortunately was hiking in the winter and had no toilet paper. I used some dried leaves and it was terrible! Another time I was visiting a friend’s mother and she wanted some help to clear an area for a vegetable garden. I only had flip flops, but volunteered to help anyway. That was even worse as it was like I had used poison ivy to floss between my toes!!!
Some say 'Leaves of three, let it be'.

Yeah, That's how I've always said it. I guess it doesn't matter though, as long as it helps you remember.
Very good: Especially the part about the longer middle stem....

A big THANK YOU for this video. We played golf today and the course was covered in poison ivy which I was able to identify and avoid.
I always had trouble identifying it. This helps a lot thank you.
The best video on poison ivy that I've seen. Very helpful. Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!
Searching for burger relish ideas and i got sent here , hope it comes out nice cant wait till lunch
Very instructional. Very well done. Best video I've seen on the topic. Clear and concise.
This helps so much! I never really knew how to identify it and those little sayings sure make it easy to remember Thank you!
Best video yet. Too the point and easy to follow. Thanks!
Thank you very much! Great pictures and easy to remember with the rhymes. I was never sure when I saw a suspicious plant, now I will be. Keep up your informative work.
this was prefect to me. Thank You never heard the mittens one thank you!
Some people say leaves of three let them be. I say leaves of four eat some more
Love the list of mnemonics. Oh, dear, we've got lots of Virginia creeper, too, growing through the gaps of the fences, all from the neighbors yard! Very informative video. Thank you very much.
Heey thanks a lot. Very beautiful explanation. U expressed calmly and i loved that too. Thanks again
That was one of the most informative videos I've seen on the subject. I'm sure I have a ton of it. As soon as the sun comes up, I'll go take a look. I have something else that's horrible but I've gotten rid of a lot of it. I have no idea what it is.
Great video, short and to the point. I'm very allergic but only develop the rash several days after exposure so I'm not sure where it's coming from. Now I know what to look for...
Thank you. Very helpful as they don't all look the same and there are other lots of things that have 3 leaves!
Thank you so much for that video. I never could tell the difference between poison ivy and other plants until I got the rash! good work.
Thank you so much. THis is excellent information.
Excellent explaination ! Only if I could have watch this earlier before I got the posion. Thank you.
TY I learned something today! I will remember this next time I go hiking.
I've never heard those rhymes, thanks for sharing.
I think the thing most confused me most thru the years is the side notches on the leaves. They exhibit only sometimes, other times they are too subtle or undergrown to notice.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for the tips!
This was so helpful! Thank you!!
I think I've got it now. Solid advice. Thanks.
great thank you, I have very similar leaves of three all along my back fenece, need to check the other points....never had a rash....
great straightforward video....
Very helpful video. Thanks.
Thanks for this video 🙏🏻
I wish I had seen this video on 9 days ago
This is really good video thanks
Very informative. Thanks.
So helpful - thank you!!!
Thank you. I have never come in contact with it.
Excellent!!
thank you very much
Are there similar, yet non poisonous vines/ivy in the northeast? Is there "always" a hairy vine?
Thanks !
That was brilliant
Thank you!
Very helpful. I am going to check out my yard first thing in the morning. There's LOTS of stuff going on including massive poison ivys :(((((((
The box elder tree looks similar but has smooth red stems and isn’t a vine. But the leaves are usually a lighter green
Love the terms.
Just wanna ask if the scars of poison ivy will leave in your skin forever? I have lots of big circle scars from poison ivy.
Thank you!!!
yep. no doubt about it. i've got it
At the 4:21 mark just slightly left of center, isn't that poison sumac? It has a long stem and opposing leaves. Again at the 4:26 mark BEHIND the poison ivy, I don't know, but it looks like it may be poison sumac also, it has that long stem with round opposing leaves. Frolicking in the Virginia creepers looks like you could still get in trouble if they're usually mixed with other poisonous plants. It looks like with ivy and oak the three leaf poems can help, but with the sumac...well...
THANKS !
It can also spread though the air. The wind and blow the oils off the leaves and get it on your skin. Happened to me and I didn't even get near or touch the plant.
I noticed that some of the poison ivy leaves were either consumed or diseased. And natural ways of controlling Poisson Ivy besides goats?
great thanks
That's exactly what I have along my fence and even grows over the roof of my shed. My cats rub on it and I get the rash if I pet them.
Can you talk about virginia creeper, wherevit came from,mm etc.?
Any advice on getting rid of the plant on one's property? Thanks for the video, and hopefully the answer to my question.

On a camping trip I got poison Ivy and now I have a scar good thing it didn’t spread too much
the best nursery rhymes for ivy ever
For posison ivy use gasoline or diesel areas infected
Leaves of three let it be. I've found a shower after the possibility of contact reduces or eliminates an outbreak. The sooner the better, and definitely not a hot shower, as the hot water will open pores. Some people swear by rinsing with kerosene.
I used to be under the impression that poison ivy leaves were always shiny with smooth edges. That is absolutely not true
4:11 crepper ooooh men
Hello police yes there's a man rhyming to my plants

Leaves of three, beware of thee, Leaves all the rest the hell alone too!
I have this along my back fence 😳
How about showing /or telling us how to kill and get rid of it for good?
You're gonna need an ocean of calamine lotion you'll be scratching like a hound the minute you to start to mess around poison ivy, poison ivy. Partial lyrics to 50s song "Poison Ivy" song by the Coasters (Can see on YT) Written by Leiber & Stoller Back in the day I think it went No. 1.
Poison sumac is underneath the poison ivy
1:06 so many rosary pea leaves
leaves of three, let it be
I have one that looks like a tree on my back yard! I posted a video on my channel!
Very good video. One tip: the plural of "leaf" is "leaves." Not "leafs."
Unfortunately there are several different appearances
Leaves of three Let It Be
Yep toxicodendron radicans
Leaves of tree don't touch me
How about, if I look like poison ivy, don't brush against me otherwise you will develop a bad itch.
That’s a deadly part of your yard there’s poison sumac too
I can walk through patches of poison ivy in shorts and flip flops and nothing. My wife looks at it and breaks out in huge rashes all over
