I did dance when I was 4 and now I'm 12. I regret quitting so bad. Any tips?

I got my pointe shoes almost 7 months ago now . I was eleven when I got them and am really happy for y’all out there who are also taking that big step in their ballet career

Oh the memories!! I was so excited when I got my first pair of pointe shoes! I grew up dancing, and taught for a few years for my Aunt who owns a dance studio!

Thanks for sharing with us River! My daughter is 7 and in her 3rd year of dance. She asks all the time when she will get pointe shoes.... I had no idea what goes into it! Very cool! 🤗. It’s a badge of hard work!

I know it's different at different dance schools, but it seems most get them between the ages of 11-13! It really is an exciting time! :)

She will probably get them around the age of 12-14. If girls get them too young, it could damage the bones in their feet. I must warn you that pointe shoes are pretty expensive.

I got my first pair of pointe shoes about 19 years ago. I remember it so well, and it is still one of my most happy memories.

Way to go River!! I love watching ballet videos and have seen the girls do the point shoes...so excited to River!

Thank you!!! I’m getting them February 23rd, been dancing for 6 years, 6 years tap and jazz and 4 years ballet, 1 year pre pointe and 1/2 year intro pointe!

How long have you been dancing I’m 11 and I have been dancing ballet for 4 years my studio doesn’t really do pointe work until 13-14 but I really want to do pointe My studio might shut down next year due to how old the building is and all the other studios in my area are 13+ for pointe work Sorry this is so long just wanting to know how long you’ve done ballet

From River: Hi Rigel! I've been dancing for 8 years. I've changed studios 3 times, and each one seems to be about 13 years old for pointe work. The place I am currently taking ballet at starts slowly at age 11. We usually spend the last 10-15 minutes of class doing pointe at the bar. It's been great for gaining more strength in my ankles and feet. Stick with it! When the time comes, you'll be glad you did! -River

rigel norton I’m 12 and I’ve been doing ballet since I was 4 so 8 years. My studio wants us to gain ankle and toe strength. I don’t see us getting pointe shoes for another year or so! I’m happy that they are making us wait as it means we will be very strong. Be patient. I am. Your teachers will know when you are ready. Keep at it!

@@localmetalhead3483 actually our ballet teacher is a professional ballerina, and she works us hard! I had just heard the news that I was a snowflake but we had like 3 months before we even got started! Plz no hate, we know what we are doing.

@@dancingwithharper9964 Never hated did I? No, I simply stated you shouldn't do pointe dances so early. She's a professional? She should know. that's not what you're supposed to do. I went en pointe in September last year and have yet to do any dances because my teacher knows what she's doing.. she's not professional.

i started ballet and tap when i was only 3! however i really didn't enjoy it lol so i moved to gymnastics at 4! when i didn't enjoy that, i tried figure skating. so far the only sport i really love! i have been doing it for years and just started working on my triples!

I am doing pre pointe and for me I am doing lots of releves or however you spell it and a loooot of exercises for your ankles and feet also I really recommend taking pre pointe if you aren’t already it is very helpful

I am 12 and I can go on pointe around 13 or 14 so not yet but it is so hard to wait but I want to have good and strong feet so when the time comes I am completely ready and I hopefully don't get injured.

👀 :Dd.. Everyone in the comments have been dancing for.. At least 4 years and here is me 13 yr old who started this year (well I was 12 and turned 13),and im getting on pointe 👀👁️👄👁️😩.. I'm scared idk if I'm ready '-' :(( and there are 2 other girls, that are new too, but 1 of them did ballet for like 2 years, but then stopped for 5 years and she is back now.. 👀 I'm kinda happy, but really scared 😅🥴🤧
