Pohl Force Alpha Two Survival Knife video review content:
Hello and welcome to this short video review about Pohl Force Alpha Two Survival Knife. This is a second generation of Alpha knives. It is a tactical knife made in Germany by Pohl Force Company. Generally this is a knife designed by Dietmar Pohl, who has long-time experiences in knife industry. As you can see, the knife comes with really nice bag, where you can put your knife and other accessories; it is really nice feel of the bag. It comes with a Pohl Force sticker, certificate, when this knife was made, the serial number, and that it was checked before it left Pohl factory. It also come with short instruction manual, which also gives you all information about maintenance and care, how to properly use the knife, and everything you need to know, before you start using your Pohl Force knife. Everything is packet in this box, when you receive it. This instruction manual is in English and in German; it also carry all the warranty information.
As you can see, this knife is made in Germany. It is foldable and has a drop-point blade design, with a simple back-lock. You can see it here. It really gives confidence; you can hear the click, and I am sure that this lock is really reliable and robust, like the entire knife is. Opening is possible by nail-nick, or you get an additional thumb-stud, which can be mounted here, and when is mounted here; you can have a one-hand opening. This is done this way because in Germany the legislation does not allow thumb opening, one-hand opening. Thus this is an option you get together with your knife and you have to mount it yourself. The knife itself is 26.0 cm long and the blade is a little bit more than 11.0 cm long. The blade thickness is massive 5.0 mm and the knife itself weight 280 grams. The blade material is made of 440 C stainless steel, and as you can see the blade finish, it is PVD coated in black. You can see nice Pohl Force logo and Alpha Two model name; you also see a serial number here and Pohl design.
You also have a marking for a material.
The blade has a hardness of 59 HRc; it is really hard blade and a high quality one. You can be sure you can use it for a long time. You also see that liners inside are really massive; they are made of stainless steel, also coated with PVD coating and also offer great reinsurance about reliability of this knife. The handle plates are made of material, which does not slip from your hand. It is also designed ergonomically, that you have a great grip. Because this knife is really big, it offers really comfortable handling. All screws are also made of stainless steel, and you can see that a handle has a sling hole, which is great for carrying this knife. On the other side, it has a belt-clip; it has everything, what foldable knife needs. The handle scales are made of Zytel polymer and are 4.0 mm thick; with this special pattern on the surface for the better grip, even in wet. I bought one after-market in D2 steel. Tough as hell, lock is very strong. However knife handle is extremely big, this does not show on the video. If you want to open it with the thumb plate, you have to really move your grip up on the handle just to be able to reach it! So this is truly a giant blade, but a very good one at that! I just don't see the bullshit about the lock failure you can read here and there as this thing is rock solid! I think the Bravo series could be more down-to-earth sized but have yet to get one of those. Too bad Pohl decided to end producing these!
