Introducing the new poet laureate for New York, 9-year old Kayden Hern from the Bronx. Kayden was invited by Governor Kathy Hochul to be the inaugural poet at her inauguration in January 1, 2023.
In this exclusive interview for Poetry Passages, Kayden talks about that exciting day and how he was invited to read for Governor Hochul and the distinguished guests in attendance.
Kayden also reads his original poem, "In My Mind", which is the poem he recited at the inauguration.
In addition, Kayden reads his original poem, "Who Am I" and premiers, exclusively for Poetry Passages, a brand new poem: "Male Child".
