We do use AI to proofread our scripts, which may result in some changes. Also, we strive to make our scripts easy to understand for non-English listeners. Thank you for your feedback!

One suggestion Remove elon, and some jokes that are too distracted from the main informative sections. Information density is very low. Same video can be easily compressed down to 5-6 minutes.

I am very interested in using Podman, but I had a lot of issues trying to setup Kubernetes to orchestrate Podman containers.

It works directly with the Kernel in Linux, but, like Docker, if you install Podman on Mac or Windows, it has to run everything in a VM. Didn't know about creating pods for Kubernetes. Will have to look more into that. One more important distinction that impacts our errant colleagues who insist on developing in Mac/Windows: Podman Desktop for those systems is still 100% open source and free, while Docker Desktop for those machines includes non-free, proprietary code and charges licensing fees for larger teams. Thought it was funny how you kept changing your pronunciation of Redis, BTW.

Podman is actually at its best when you run it in rootful mode. In rootless mode it uses a bunch of workarounds to make overlay filesystems, networks, and other stuff work, which has a high performance cost and causes some things to just break (for example, instead of just making a network bridge I have a slirp4netns process eating half of my CPU when under load). I'm annoyed to see rootless being pushed as a safety benefit, imo the client server model is a better overall model imo because it does partial privileges better without having to cut corners for security reasons, podmans model is everything or nothing. I like nerdctl better as a "docker clone", but podman has really nice deployment options with the kube files and quadlets that make up for its downsides, and rootless podman can run in places where docker runs into issues.

There is always a trade-off between security and performance (cost) as CIA explains. However, rootless containers align better with security compliance requirements and auditing standards. Regulatory frameworks and security best practices recommend\mandate running applications with the least necessary privileges. We appreciate your feedback and hope this explanation helps you understand why rootless mode is being promoted for its security advantages.
