I can't count how many times the comments for these podcast episodes have been FULL of people verifying Rainie's statements. I wish they could see and acknowledge this pattern. As someone with a PhD in cell biology and biochemistry, Rainie is absolutely right about the sexist framing we've had about the sperm and the egg. It's well known in the field. So much so that it impacted our research about fertility and conception. It's really apparent reading old research papers.

Rainey is talking about an article I had to read in medical anthropology called The Egg and the Sperm. It's widely known for analyzing and critiquing how male and female bodies/phenotypes are discussed in medical textbooks. Iirc the point is that medical biases can be taught and absorbed through language that might appear innocuous on the surface

Rainie- I have wavy hair too. What I find works is I have a wide tooth comb in the shower and then I don’t brush it after I’m out of the shower. This should help with the knots!
