Perhaps this can help someone. I stopped placing unrealistic expectations upon me. Examples: Trying to reach a desired weight loss goal. Instead now: Learning to eat healthy on a limited budget. Exercising By walking a few miles a day. Started with one a few blocks. Stop wasting my time Procrastinating( because I am afraid of failure or rejection. Making a list of Achievable goals. Small ( cleaning out my closet, donating clothes to charity. Excellent pod. Thanks for sharing

I love Dr. Leaf and have read most of her books and watched so many of her videos. However, as a Christian (I know she is too) I was a bit taken aback by her doing yoga… I’d love for her to talk about this.

It's so crazy that Dr Leaf mentions she's been studying the brain for 38 years, but she looks younger than 38😮Incredible genes! I love her work and research. She's such a tremendous blessing to this world. God bless you! ❤

I have suffered from depression and anxiety since I was 7 years old. Around 10 years old PTSD and in 03 from being mugged. I haven't been able to work because of my problems. Starting getting help in 1995. Medications, in and out of putting myself into the hospital because I thought I might hurt myself or I just couldn't handle life. I started TMS therapy last year. It has helped some. I struggle with processing and keeping being mindful. I'm also an Empath. I can't watch television, news, because of the sadness going on. If someone I care about tells me something that makes them sad or someone hurt them I would try to figure out how to handle their problems like they were mine. I can read people in certain ways. I get really in tuned with people. Nuero feedback. Would love to be about to live without being so miserable.

You are a nurturer like me. If someone is suffering or has a need, I rush to help them resolve it. I often forget about myself, because there obviously is a reward for me in it. Need to sit and find out what is so rewarding - do I want to be recognized, do I want to 'prove' that things can be different for better, or am I relieving myself from this emphat suffering by helping others do that it does not bother me so much? I think all at once. But healthy focus on myself is equally important. Need to practice that more.

You both are amazing and I have been following your books and videos. Unfortunately, these great methods or techniques were not available for many of the people who were given antidepressants and now there are thousands and thousands of people suffering and going through hell trying to come off these medications. I was curious to know when anxiety is induced by decreasing antidepressants can these methods still be implemented to cope and heal our brain?

Dr. Leaf just wanted to thank you for all the Podcast you have done for us out here............. I've been following you for about 2 years already now, but about a month ago I started feeling the same way I did 2 years ago. I thought I had everything covered but again my fears came back and my body started reacting to the thought and the nonsleeping and toxic thoughts. so, here i am again listening to you and again I am back with the high need of how to heal again. I was wrongfully diagnosed with cervical cancer 2 years ago, and i did a few things to make sure it was false alert and they all came back negative. and now in last month, i had some hard symptoms again of causes that only people with cancer have. well, that's what google says, so i triggered again my fears and i am not eating nor sleeping at all at night. Please let me know a few steps to cut the habit before i hit those max days and really stay in my head longer. Thank You once again for making me not feel like i am going crazy thank you for making me feel there's a way to self-heal my thoughts.

Judd Brewer, open eyes, awaken curiosity, hmmm, where does this anxiety come from? Does this serve Me? --- Bad habit, survival brain we reach for cell phone, food to distract me from anxiety, depression. Do do do do to numb out depression, solution --- understand mind to work with it and become AWARE. PART TWO How rewarding is worry, procrastination, anger, depression...open eyes, engage curiosity....harsh judgment of self....does this serve me? Recognize self condemnation feels icky, but loving kindness FEELS better. Grumpy mood while driving irritation--cursing others or choosing to issue kindness to those who irritated us. Increase pleasure by being curious, thinking, feeling, choosing during awareness. Be curious

The Bible speaks to the “renewal of our minds”. We have more control over our fleshly desires or habits when we have our minds on spiritual things, like thinking of what is beautiful, noble, true, etc. Romans 12:1-2

I really need help. Over the last ten years I’ve had anxiety mostly associated with painful bladder (IC). If I feel a flare coming on immediately it triggers anxiety, or if I get upset about something that triggers the anxiety. It is a vicious cycle. I have been on 25 mg. Amitriptyline and 5 mg. Buspirone for four years but I still get anxious sometimes and it takes about two weeks for my bladder to calm down. I want to get off the meds, I know to go slow but I don’t know what to think about to keep the anxiety down. I try praying, writing Scripture, going for walk, build puzzles anything to distract the anxiety. I’m so afraid of the pain. Please help if you have any suggestions.
