I've always loved this novelization. Shudo had much more mature and interesting take on this franchise, and I wish they had explored it more. The Pokemon Adventure manga gives me a taste of that, but its still not the same take as Shudo's. Wish he had been able to write more. RIP ❤ I think the closest thing I've seen to Shudo was a fic on AO3 called Come What May. Its a neat blend of the anime, games, the adventures manga, and Shudo's more mature pov of the franchise. What got me was it's focus on Delia. The writer put together a very interesting backstory for her that I won't spoil, there's a lot of world building and speculative pokemon biology, implications that humans are the ones not native to that world, and the legendary pokemon are treated as a kind of pantheon. And Delia just so happens to meet Arceus himself by complete coincidence, and forms an unexpected friendship with said deity...without her know who he really is. It makes sense in context. One thing I'll critique about it is, from the four chapters I've read so far, is the typos and Grammar errors, but also how incredibly long each chapter is. They read like short stories unto theselves. I think it should've been broken up into more parts. At least the art in some of the chapters are nice.

Thanks for recording this video. I wish there was an audiobook in this style for the rest of the indigo league (and beyond?). It was cool to hear some grit and contextualization to the details. My memory was like flashbacks to watching the show as a child.

Thank you for reading this. I really liked the way you read this story, it was engaging. .i now know the early perspective some of the creators had for the series; such as how rough life could be for people in general, how becoming a Pokemon trainer could be daunting, and overall how these characters are different from their anime counterparts. Especially characters like Delia and Oak. It's a shame this novel series didn't continue past this point. RIP novel author. I hope you continue on with your videos on the Pokemon Adventures manga as well!
