    The power of water is incredible. Some of the rocks that were dislodged are huge. Great photography, thanks for sharing.

    Thank you 😊 yes it’s amazing how much was moved by the power of just water. Apparently it’s all cleaned up and open already.

    That would have taken some work. Good that it is open again.

    Thank you for filming and sharing this. My Father in Law worked for the Hydro and cut the trees to make way for the powerlines to go up many years ago. This is amazing footage. Mother Nature is an awesome force.

    Very welcome, I enjoy making the videos. I guess we’re lucky it really only damaged the road and not any of the power infrastructure.

    Brilliant Footage, we had just completed a fire main project in conjunction with another contractor and finished a month ago, now the pipe line is none existent. Had been working in this exact sport for the last 5 months, I have some brilliant before pictures of this creek and the rain forest it once was. Cheers

    Thanks 😊 It’s would have looked nice back then, the landslide has certainly changed the look of the landscape down through there.

    It’s really incredible to see, and to imagine how powerful the water must have been to cause so much destruction. Those boulders are the size of a car.

    Stunning vision. Very fortunate it didn't take out the transmission lines. Those boulders are enormous!

    Probably just lucky they weren’t in it’s path. I did hear it damaged something down near the power station though.

    Would it be possible to get some drone footage of the other washouts on the western tiers. From Bracknell I can see many washouts after the floods .

    That explains why the road above the Poatina Cafe was closed! We drove out for lunch hoping we could get to the village - which we could. Would never have expected the road was blocked above by such a large landslip. Thanks for showing us.

    Wow is it still closed 😮 reckon it’ll take a while to clear it all, there’s more land slips further up the road also, it’s a mess.

    Where did the water come from not like there is that much of a catchment on the side of a mountain towards the top.

  • @Tassiephotographer

    @Tassiephotographer

    I think it was a combination of near 200 plus mm of rain in a short time, plus a few months of record rain falls and all the creeks around the mountain combining into this creek, and it can only go down hill.

  • @FeatherHorseforge

    @@FeatherHorseforge no I never there was a creek there either, apparently it’s called Poatina Creek. You can see not far up the hill a small dam, and what’s left of some black poly pipe running down from the dam in amongst the rubble, that used to be the Poatina Village water supply.
