PN Steel Train Derailment near Benalla. Sun 03/08/08

NR1-AN11-NR28 PAcific Nationals 5WX2 steel train from Port Kembla to Port Augusta derailed near Winton ( north of Benalla ) on Thur 31/07/08. The 29th and 30th wagons derailed but stayed coupled, and the following wagons derailed, In all 13 wagons derailed at a train speed of 80 km/h. Bad track condition was believed to have caused a wheel to climb over the rail head. The views were shown during the clean up on Sun 03/08/08

Looks like some of the wagons could be repairable - I hope. Very interesting this one.
Just a correction here, it was 31 July 2008 not 31 August 2008 as it was ny birthday and we were on 8331 vline passenger and were stopped at Benalla as we tried to get information from the standard gauge at 201. I was in the van listening :)
