I watched this song when I joined the fandom and I'm watching it now in this last month of the show. Thank you for everything you've done for us, BronyDancyParty

Is it just me, or does the fandom seem like its missing something it used to have back in the early years. It's like there used to be this feeling of elation whenever there was something you could point to and say, "Look. Look at what Bronies can do and say this is just a stupid kids show." Now, I feel, that's gone. Maybe it's over saturation of brony media. There was a point when the pinnacle of PMV pride was a sped-up version of You're Gonna Go Far Kid. We even made into something a theme for the fandom for awhile. Who else remembers Forest Rain's Join the Herd? These days, it's not so big a deal when something like this comes out. It kinda hurts to see the lack of those old strong bonds... ... I just went on a rant in a youtube comment. I feel ashamed.

I don't think it's dying. Fandoms, or what were essentially the same thing before the word "fandom" was popularized, have lasted decades after their source material was cancelled, and that was before the internet was a thing. The Bronies will continue, even if with less fervor than there used to be. I mean just think, we've got sub-fandoms within the Bronies, like FO:EQ or, to a much lesser extent, Upheaval. There will always be a stream of new fandom content to support a stable population. Not to mention, Hasbro will never let the franchise die, even if gen 4 is cancelled. I was just lamenting the loss of that early fervor. Though I feel like I'm being far too elitist in doing so. The fan-content being produced these days is just better than the early stuff. I just miss the universal passion of the community, but that never lasts with any fandom.

You're not wrong. But it's the pain of any fandom. When a fandom is new and specially when it breaks from social norms to exist they always have more to them. There's more of a need to find their place in the collective that is fandoms in general. This was also one of the first fandoms of the 2010s. This was when fandoms really started to grow and change in general. I feel like while it may not be 100% true, the music made by the Brony fandom has a big part in why alot of people have channels dedicated to making 100% original fan songs based on things they enjoy such as JT machinima's work with making raps and rap battles for games that come out in the last few years and even some from way back when. But now we are nearing season 7, which is alot more seasons then we ever expected the show to get, and alot of the fans who jumped on have grown up, some still stick with the show but because the show hasn't exactly produced entirely new and amazing things throughout, many don't have as much to work with. Fandoms always seem their biggest and most expermental early on, while it's quite possible the MLP:FiM fandom is larger now then ever, because of how much has shifted sense it started it feels like it lost something, which in some ways it has, those who use to make songs either went on to other projects or shift what they made songs about (Tombestone still makes music after all) and noone really stepped up to take their place. Really the fandom is just settling in. the real fans are staying, new fans come, the haters are moving onto other things to be angry about or maturing into better people who cringe at their old hater days. (you can hope atleast)

The animation is simple, with quite some mistakes, and good lord that Luna. But it has a charm that newer works don't seem able to achieve. And that's why this artist has become, without knowing, an interesting timeless step in this fandom.

I consider being a brony a subculture. Liking the show is one part of it. So is collecting merch, or having done so, attending meetups and conventions, and creating content in some way for the fandom. Interacting as a community in some way is also important.
