Great design. One addition that would help would be a roller or guild that would push the logs back to the pinch side. This would help avoid all the 12" wide pieces from having to be handled and repositioned.

Well we're under half their price. I have been made aware of the Mahoe splitter. There is one near to us. Have to have a competition to see which is faster.

@PME-SPLITTERS yea seen that was very tempted to get one of yours if I'd seen this video of this one working 2 months ago I would of inquired about this but I've got a raptor turning up Ina few weeks ,I've run the mahoe alot and they a good machine so would be a good match up ,the thing that pulled me to the raptor is the box wedge how every piece is consistent and with the mahoe you get bits that are still connected or big chunky bits if your not careful and the price 🤣

I bet it's hard to make something to suit everyone but definitely like your infeed table that's a good idea with cogs sticking up and how the machine is one unit ,with the raptor I've had to buy a conveyor to sit behind it to load into my trucks

You are right, both counts. US has the box blade to cut parts of a round.

Very cool idea but seems a little dangerous being right there. I understand the whole process of splitting wood has some level of danger to it but a lot of guys in the Midwest make firewood in the winter and a slip towards that would eat a hand pretty quick.

@@jelinektreeservice Making guarding for the disc screen presently that deactivates screen when opened. More concerned about loose clothing getting tangled. Reasons for that position. Guillotine action requires 1/2 the tonnage to have the same result as box way or vertical splitter. So the blade is 34 inches long and can be loaded up with multiple side knives. But a lot of time was spent pushing wood into conveyor chute. Disc screen solved this problem tapers down to 20 inches and loads conveyor nicely. Cleans wood before conveyor. Means do not need a screen at end of conveyor which would get in the way of loading high sided vehicle. And cleaning helps the general workings of conveyor.

Keen to see the next video. I’ll be looking for a high production machine at the end of Aus winter so I’m keen to watch how this progresses and would love a demo if it’s an option. Have you tried it on any Aussie hard wood ? Yellow box, red gum etc

Bought two truck loads of gum to test the machines with. About 800 mm Diameter. But I am an engineer I don't know the difference in Timbers.

@@PME-SPLITTERS big dia wood. If you do some more videos please show it slicing through knots and twisted grain, Aussie wood has lots of that, so that’s what people always need to see it cutting. Most American splitters are fast but struggle with the knots and twisted grain. Keen to see more of this splitter, it looks great.

@@TheRuralProject Pretty sure we can match the Rex 900 in performance. They said on video up to 120 cubic meters a day. We are close to that. And I know what you mean about twisted grain. Where it is required to cut more than split. Work on video soon.

​@@TheRuralProject If it does not do well it may need to have the knife sharpened. Those pieces look short and fat. Here in US we3cut everything 16 inches. I am not sure that is the proper length. What length do you cut in Australia?.

​​​​​@@PME-SPLITTERS First I thought both sides of the wedge had the same design It comes down at an angle so that gives the wedge a better chance.. You did not show us any small diameter wood. Are we supposed to use a different splitter for small diameter wood? What is the maximum length of wood? It looks good. I think you will do okay with it. Fun to watch. It would be fun to use. Please don't put a double lock double handle. Make it for adults to use More knives and closer together. If the operator wants bigger pieces, he can take bigger bites (if the knives are wide enough). The knives attached to the side need to be high enough to give the main blade the opportunity to start splitting first. On second thought, with your pivot design, that probably doesn't matter. US goes by cords per hour but those big splits would be considered cheating.

Designed to do timber 300 mm to 1200 mm diameter. Had a customer ring and say the machine was a game changer for him cutting Manuka. Using the blade to guillotine and first blade to split the wood. Apparently he was sick of chainsawing and all the splinters you get from Manuka.

Would it be better to have the blade back a bit so its not hitting that lip, and making the wood go off track , either way its quick at making cunky pieces now all you need is a log deck from me and create a saw and clamp so you can cut rounds directly onto the infeed

Nice. I have some eucalyptus that's potentially been down for 10 or more years here. Being in Aussie I have lots of eucalypts to choose from. Redgum, bluegum, greybox, yellowbox and ironbark to name a few of the 800 odd varieties. Look forward to seeing any/all videos of the machines in use.

It needs a double lockout for the anvil. Someone is going to crush their hand without thinking the way it is currently setup.

I agree But to prevent people from disabling two hand lock system you have to make it something they want to use. That is the main reason I came up with left hand working wood infeed system. Also there are some parts to be added beside the knife to control how wood is split. won't explain. Hope to have (made and tried) later next week.

​@@PME-SPLITTERS Maybe you could make it one way for people who don't think and you could make another version for people who do think. Let them choose. Perhaps you could do a foot pedal so both hands are free to feed the wood. Ban children. Eastonmade has a vertical splitter with a foot pedal.

Just spent the last 5 months streamlining design. Reducing number of parts and making unit faster to build. Probably should have setup website to take orders but making limited numbers of machines each month and didn't want too much demand at the moment. May give out contact details next week if you are still interested. We are just finishing latest machine and I am pleased with this design just experimenting with different power units. The one this video was 16 hp motor and ordinary two stage pump. The one we are finishing off today is 35 hp and variable piston pump - not sure how much of an advantage it will be? It is intended to cut old Blue Gum with twisted grain that has been down for a year. Will down load the video next week.

Inquiring into the cost of shipping at the moment. Finishing new design. Looks tidier more compact except table depth has grown to 44 inchs deep. Drawbar folds up for shipping.

dont do the double hand lock up they suck i have a supa axe and modified it soon as i got your on the money with that splitter.a few more tweaks and you have yourself one of the best around

Model number and information to purchase. Instead of only 3 knives can there be 4 knives for regular fire places? What is on there now would be great for a log boiler.

What part of the planet are you from Machine is getting a major overhaul at present. Finalizing computer programs and final dimensions. increasing cutting force, tidying work flow of infeed table, Blade changed to 4 knives and adding some safety features etc.

Wasn't meant to be a demo model. A customer brought in a 1200mm by1500 mm by 400 mm high blue gum ring. Machine did process it but not easily. Wouldn't have thought more of it except then having customers of mine showing the size rings they cut on my previous machines and plan to use on this one. We are getting 4 Cord or 14 cubic meters an hour but want to get better control over the size of pieces cut. Upgrades Rotary table to spin large rings. Drive wheels to be smaller at headboard - larger at edge of table. So wood is pushed against the headboard as it is moved. Cutting table and infeed table to be increased to 44 inches wide. looking at spacing of side knives. like to get 4. Pricing $ 18.5K USD plus freight.

Probably better than you think. There is 50 tonnes cutting force close into the headboard. That''s where most of the work is done to open up the log.
