This effectively neutralized the threat posed by the combined Western naval presence, allowing India to continue its military operations without external interference. These events reached a critical point around December 10-13, 1971. The presence of the Soviet naval forces, along with the withdrawal of British ships, played a crucial role in the successful outcome for India, ultimately leading to the creation of Bangladesh. This event underscored the crucial support provided by the Soviet Union, reinforcing the strong diplomatic and military ties between the two nations.
