Love the build. Just an FYI, any cabinet builder will tell you that the factory edge(s) isn't necessarily straight/square. Most pros will cut off a small bit to make sure it is. That glue is the bomb.

The thing I notice the most when watching builds like this are all the places where I would have cocked it right up! Haha

It's just as easy to put French doors in your basement as it is to build your tank. That way you can get it out the door no problem if you end up moving in the future.

I knew what the measurements going into the build were going to be, but once I actually started construction…..it was totally different seeing how big it actually sits.

With your tank being that tall, I would go with 3/4" glass thickness. Mine is 24" with frame around, so 21" viewing. That worked with 1000g because it was 10ft wide x 5 1/2ft deep @ 27" fill level.. It had total of 3" below glass viewing on bottom and the other 3" above glass viewing Your doing clean work. I found that 2x6 euro bracing gave much added strength and I have 2-1 1/2w x 1/4"thich braces in center of tank, from front to back. They easily attach to the 2x6s

Looks like I will be cutting the height of this build down….which may be better for several reasons. I am unable to source 3/4” glass…. I no one can get it for me for whatever reason. That being said, I think my plan now is to build the tank around 29 inches tall or so with roughly a 23 inch tall viewing window on the front and side. It seems to be that the only thickness of glass I can obtain anywhere near me is half an inch. the tank would measure 96x 44x 29”….I can make the height shorter if need be. Just need to figure out if 1/2” is going to be enough which I fear it may not….

@@Jetblink619 Im starting my 300g plywood build. It will measure 96" wide x 28" high x 30" deep. The water level will be at 24".. I have 13mm glass for the tank already. 96" x 24" front panel with 2 side panels @ 22" wide x 24" high. The side windows will not be a full glass side, however they will go from tank front towards back. They will sit on tank floor and rise up, with 1 1/2" wood border around all edges. It will give me a 21" viewing height.. I will use my diy euro bracing around top of tank and make framing to use my existing 4 glass aquarium tops.

I believe I did a video a while ago on how I do the 3-D backgrounds or showed the steps at least. If I go that route, I will possibly or most likely do a video on how I make it.

I don't know dude, I built a 500 gallon plywood tank a few years ago and those sides that are only 3/4 thick will bow out. Even with using 1 1/2 solid oak front panel frame, i still had to use threaded rod going from front to back to keep it from bowing. I used 5/8 tempered glass.

As I am going through this build process, I am modifying my building and design plan. I have decided that over top of the three-quarter inch plywood. I will add extra bracing with the scrap plywood that I cut so far. I will overlap it for extra strength and rigidity. That being said, it will be 1.5” thick instead of just 3/4”. I will see how that comes out and go from there

@@Jetblink619 i'm sure it will be awesome!! I started mine just like yours, as i filled it I noticed the sides bulging in out , so i added another layer of 3/4 Good Luck, i'll be watching
