Plundered - Mapping 1777 Chester County

The story of the Battle of Brandywine and the Philadelphia Campaign has been told and re-told. Battles, skirmishes, and troops movements all have been well documented. But when 30,000 troops descend on a county of peaceful farming and milling communities, destruction, suffering and shattered lives on a vast scale are the result. On September 9, 1777 the residents of Chester County would look on the unfolding events with a mix of hope, fear, or indifference. But no matter how they initially felt, the devastation visited upon them would reverberate long after the armies left the field. This video highlights some of those stories and serves as an introduction to the 1777 Chester County Property Atlas.
