It definitely feels like a major milestone!! I have 2 things I'm looking forward to the most at the moment, getting a glass of water from our future sink and turning on our lights for the first time haha

If you can find some kind of a tray that would fit underneath your filters when you switch them out so that it does catches the drips and stuff and helps prevent rotting mildew with all that stuff

Great idea! We didn’t really think about how the filters will be full of water when we switch them out and will 100% use a tray to catch any spills!

We love them! It’s been well over a year and no leaks yet 😊 plus we’ve been in colder than -10F weather and no issues

Just make sure that you can get to all junctions where there is a fitting. Sharkbites from what I've read/watched has some issues. They are great for ease of use/install but can leak.

You don’t need to spend lots of money on a clearsource or on demand pro just buy the individual filter holders and cartridges separately for under two hundred

From what I watched your gravity flow water fill is not filtered. Would it have been better to put the filter before the pump? So that drawn or pumped water is filtered.

Yeah we set our system up a little differently since we plan to be off grid the majority of the time and not ever hooked up to city water. We don’t expect to use the gravity full often, only in places where we know and trust the water source.

Great video! After a year, how is the Clear Source working out for you guys?

Its been great! We haven't done any before/after tests but we have no complaints with the taste or cleanliness of our water. It'll be time for us to swap out the filters soon which will be exciting to see!

@@AdventureTrudge Have you had any problems pushing city water through the filters immediately? Most folks I see putting in filters will only put them on like the kitchen faucet's cold line, knowing they're more likely to drink from that. But I'm like you, I would rather have all my water coming in filtered, I'm just hesitant with the amount of time it would take to fill my tank if everything's going through the filter first.

No problems! We made sure to check with the Clearsource sales team because we had the exact same worry. We've never timed how long it takes our tank to fill (depends on where we're filling) but its probably ~15 min 😊

So your gravity fed water doesn’t go through the filter? What is the reasoning for that? Wouldn’t it work better to have city and gravity go directly into the tank, then have a sediment filter before the pump and have the clearsource filter after the pump? 🤔 I am getting ready to do my plumbing I loved your video but this part confused me.

Great question! What you’re describing would 100% work. We set it up this way for two reasons, we wanted any water that was going to be sitting in our tank to be filtered and we don’t plan to ever be hooked up to city water. So really, we don’t intend to use our gravity fill unless we’re somewhere where we know we’re getting clean water. I think the most common way is to have your city water hookup bypass your pump completely but since we plan to be boondocking most of the time we didn’t feel like that sort of city water hookup was necessary for our build.

Uh, you guys might want to rethink your setup here, I think you have it backwards. With this setup you’re not filtering any of the water from your gravity fill and if you’re only boondocking then how are you planning to ensure you’re getting clean water?

We have yet to use our gravity fill, its really only there to use if we're somewhere we trust the water. We have only ever filled up with a hose from a "city water" connection, so all of our water is always going through our filter first. We have filled our water tank at gas stations, campgrounds, parks, and people's homes and have always been able to hook our hose up to our filter inlet to fill :)

Why even have a gravity fill? The filtered water inlet is the same as gravity fill. Generally the city water does not go into the tank. There is a one way check valve that won’t allow it to. Also do you have a float valve that turns the water off once the it reaches a certain height? Otherwise the pressure from city water will just keep pushing water in until it spills out your gravity fill or air vent or both.

Hey Doug, we set up our tank a little different because we don’t ever expect to be parked somewhere where we’ll be hooked up to city water. We plan to travel mostly off grid and not be “plugged in”. We decided to add the gravity fill hose just in case we’re ever filling the tank somewhere with water we trust and want to bypass the filter. If that changes in the future we’d definitely switch it around so the city water goes into the system after the check valve after our pump. I’ve never heard of a float valve but that sounds very useful! Our tank actually came with sensors that we haven’t set up yet but that will be able to tell us our water level which is what we were planning to use. Thanks for your questions!

@@AdventureTrudge you’ll still end up with plastic taste from the tank. I’d add another filter before your kitchen sink. I really like the clear source filtration. I just don’t know if an Rv pump will be able to create enough pressure if installed after the tank. The filters will naturally create resistance. I thought about doing the Rv pump with higher gpm rating.

Love your videos but. The plumbing does not look right. If and when you fill your tank up using the gravity fill the water in the tank will be unfiltered. And when you connect to a water source city hose pipe. It will be filtered but how does it know to stop. Usually when a Rv is connected to water source it bypasses water tank.

You’re right, we did it that way on purpose! We plan to be fully off grid the majority of the time and not ever hooked up to city water so we set our system up a little different than a normal RV. We will only use the gravity fill when filling with water we know we can trust (so probably not often). We can always change it in the future if we realize it’s not working for us ☺️ thanks for your comment!
