Do you sell your fur? I'm in Australia and I'd love to incorporate some into my knitting.

How many would you pluck a day? is their a difference in quality of hand plucking as apposed to machine pluck, what do the buyers prefer?

Machine plucked fur looks a bit like dreadlocks. It may be easier to spin. It also might include the shortest fur &/or put fractures in the fur that are not easily identified. This has been historically blamed for having products made from it "shed" some fibre. How correct this is may be worth getting a second opinion about, as machine plucked fur is usually saleable, and there have been times it is preferred.. Often there is about a 10& differential and buyers want it kept seperate. Usually takes 1-2 minutes to pluck one, and for hand plucking still warm ones they need to be finished within 10 minutes of expiry (they can be carried along while checking the catch line). 30 a day means over an hour actual plucking probably, and likely walking a few kms. When the maths is done most would be paying to catch possums instead of profiting. And these types often compromise the actual competent professionals who can work profitably & effectively. It becomes unprofitable even to the discalculiac long before effective possum control is achieved for most operators.
