Well done to all who took part, nice to see the older outfits at work. Takes me back to my early days in agriculture. Very good commentary too, you obviously have a great depth of knowledge.👍

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Ploughing was one of my favourite jobs when I was working on arable farms in the 60/70/80s. I had quite good success in ploughing matches also.

@@lionelmarytravels6003 Respect....that was my kinda era, late 60's/70's/80's. I didn't enter any matches as such but i was a demonstrator for a local agricultural equipment dealership as and when required in the 80's, mainly with 5/6 furrows against other manufactures/dealers. When i'm out in the car and i see ploughing i have to have a look and think.."good job" but more often than not i think "not so good" I think quantity wins over quality these days.....Oh well.

Thanks for your kind comments Ron. I felt I should have gone into even more details about the plough and ploughing. They were mostly using 2 furrow ploughs, which I'm not so familiar with. All I know is that you can only leave one wheel mark when you finish. I still think the finish was way too deep and although some competitors were clearly out of time, not one had any penalty points. All my ploughing was done with a 5 furrow plough, successfully too, I might add.

Sorry Ron, but I haven't managed to get out much since that ploughing match. The weather hasn't been very helpful. I've had plans, but they'll have to wait for a while. Take care of your potting shed.

Thanks for your kind comments, James. I did a lot of ploughing in the Stockbridge club competitions, back in the seventies. Always used a Ramsome 5 furrow semi mounted plough.

Really enjoyed that video, nice comments with no derision in the voice even when the ploughing was perhaps not up to scratch 👌

This is a cracking video. Your commentary throughout is first class. I started taking part in matches a couple of months ago and you miss wondering around looking at others ploughing( at least I do as I'm so slow compared to the seasoned competitors). Well done and can't wait to see the next one!

I'm from South Dakota, USA, 71 yes old .I haven't seen any realistic plowing, mostly just scratches, no depth, a good depth would be 6 to 8 inches. Completely unrealistic.

Hello Mike. Yes. We always ploughed at 8 inches in my farming days.
