    I'm guessing that guy has T8 on the T88 board with 2 diamonds. Bit of a questionable call there IMO. If you had something like AKJ8, then your call would be more justifiable, but even then there's always the chance you could be up against TT

    Hey PLO Professor, wanted your opinion on something. I was playing a four card Hilo tournament online. 16 left 9 get the money. I’m second in chips and the chip leader who is potting every hand pots pre and I have AA2 dbl. I repot pre and he goes all in and I lose to garbage. Would you have just called the pot to see the flop in this situation?

    This is a great question - with 16 left what is the biggest stack (I know he’s the biggest stack, but is the biggest stack with 16 left 50-80bbs? Or is it sub 15 blinds! It matters because if it’s 50 plus bigs I think this is a situation in which you can play tighter and just wait for your spot against your opponent. Since he is so loose why give him a chance to knock you out when you can pick your spot. On the other hand, if the biggest stack is like 15-25 bb, then yes I’m jamming because you want to go into the final table having a big chip stack. I hope that helps! Also, I didn’t ask about position - in position more likely to play tighter, out of position (like SB/ Bb) more likely to re-raise and try to get 40% of my chips in pot pre.

    @@ploprofessor The big stack had about 180bb and i had 80bb. He was button i was big blind. Also this was a bounty tournament. I think you pretty much answered my question and i should've picked my spot. Also, is there any merit to playing a hand like 47106 dbl in hilo in general, which he repotted with? Could he be thinking blocking my low draw. I doubt it and just think he was after my bounty and could take the hit to his stack. Thx

    @@user-jc4pb9ly7o if he was jamming with 467T DS - he was just playing for funzies…. But yeah I would have just picked my spot vs that guy. I don’t mind playing a hand like that in lvls 1-3, but not when you are down to final two tables.

    Yes to both. And I’m offering a WSOP package - total buy ins are 26500. Part of that is the two big O events. I’ll have a video uploaded explaining that in the next month or so.

    Are you saying you should never check raise any hand in plo? If so, why not?

  • @ploprofessor

    @ploprofessor

    2 ай бұрын

    Not saying you shouldn’t ever check raise in plo but most people don’t realize is if you are check raising on the flop - and you have deep enough stacks, you are giving your opponent appropriate odds to call (in many situations). Better off to bet in most situations. It is player and situational dependent but X/! Is something that will kill future action and again - most people don’t do it at appropriate times. Ty for the comment and Ty for watching!

    @@ploprofessor if x/r gives your opponent good odds to draw then wouldnt leading/donkbetting give him even better odds? It seems to me that a x/r is a good way to stop opponents from floating and just waiting for you to check so they can steal it.

    @@ticenits1926 there are times when x/! Makes sense….But what I witness is most new players to plo X/! And don’t realize that their opponent has good equity and if SPR are big enough most new players will misplay it. Not saying don’t ever X/!, but most players misplay it is all!
