PLEASE, NO MORE CRYING! Snap-On 18V vs Milwaukee 12V vs DeWalt 12V

Ғылым және технология

We heard your requests and we aim to please. We're taking the Milwaukee M12 Stubby, Snap-On CT9010, and DeWalt DCF901 and putting them head to head. Which one will reign supreme? The DCF901 and Milwaukee model 2555 (M12 Stubby) are both 12-volt tools, while the Snap-On CT9010 is an 18V impact wrench. Also, the M12 and DeWalt XTREME are considered Compact Impact Wrenches, and the Snap-On should be placed in the Mid-Torque league. We will find out if these little guys can keep up with the high-dollar Snap-On. #milwaukeetool #dewalttough #snap-on

I was a heavy equipment mechanic for 10 years before becoming a manufacturing maintenance technician and all of my battery tools are Milwaukee. They have never failed me. It's also really good to see that it won't. Tools are starting to be snap-on as well because for a while there Milwaukee was kind of ahead of the pack but maybe with more competitors passing up. I get performance is performance and looks don't make something perform, but I always go by looks first. Of course if it doesn't perform, I won't buy it. I will agree that for some, Snap On is the only tool they will own. When I worked at dealerships and repair shops I normally kept a open account on the truck. Even some Mac and Matco at times. This is why Snap on and other tool trucks have them, credit. If I needed something and did not have the funds to just purchase outright, " just put this on my account " I do understand that times have changed but having that truck come to you every week and seeing all those new shiny tools, sometimes it is more than a man can resist. But as much as I am a fan of their hand tools, I would personally never buy this impact. As far as "fanboys" sure, everyone is a fan of something. Brand of truck, car, motorcycle, golf clubs, lawn mower, shoes, watches, battery powered tools, etc...... That and when I was in the business you really did not have a choice. Truck tools or Craftsman, anything else was Chinese crap. Yeah I know there were a couple other brands but you get my point. Now days I buy Tekton for the most part, mostly American made, best on line warranty I have found, fantastic quality and really good price for American made tools. Last point, PRIDE, for some of us, that tool box full of quality American made tools is as important as the truck we drive, the Hotrod we built or the guns in our safe.

@@bruceli9094 YES, I am a firm believer in buying American anytime I can. Yes it does cost a little more at times but personally it is well worth. I will support my brothers and sisters every chance I can. As far as Snap on is concerned, I personally do not know of any other brand that us better. Equal, possibly, but in the hand tool world they have always been the gold standard by which everything is compared to. Over priced, depends on your thought process. Buying Snap on, or any truck tool, is supporting American workers, small business ( truck owner) and a good one will take care of me, brings it to my door step. So fan boy it is I guess. But like I said Tekton is very impressive and they continue to make new tools and stop importing them. Again, supporting a American manufacturer. Lol, sorry for the soap box preaching.

The Snap-On looks like a brushed-drive tool Milwaukee would have made like 8+ years ago. Just way way behind. The insulting part is the price, but that's how Snap-On stays in business--by selling a tool that costs $29, for $365. There has to be a way to pay all the dealers ("tool truck guys") and middle men in between I guess. Terrible business model that worked up until like 10 years ago maybe, but not anymore, esp. when you can see differences like this in performance, price, and quality. It's crazy to think that Milwaukee tools themselves are arguably overpriced (though deals and sales can make them much better), but then the Snap-On racket is a whole other level of overpricing. Makes you wonder how much cheaper cars would be if stealerships weren't part of the equation...

@@tripplefives1402 Exactly, so quite similar to car dealerships. So they need to make their profit too, so Snap-On overcharges them, then they overcharge *you* to make a buck. Just a waste of time buying their stuff, esp. for a "regular person". If you're in an industry and are actually getting good prices on this stuff from whomever you're buying from, can be okay. Otherwise seems like a lot of what they sell these day is just second-rate overpriced stuff they charge huge $$$ for because of their name/history. Even for mechanics, etc., these days a lot are becoming wise to stuff like this and finding it better to buy tools you can buy online, buy from big-box stores, and other similar avenues; instead of off "the tool truck" so they can have some "pro lookin' name" with lacklustre performance and rack up debt from the $$$ they're spending. And if the dealers are putting themselves into debt that's basically everyone...except Snap-On who is laughing it up all the way to the bank.

If you decide to go with a ratchet go with the Milwaukee high speed if you are going to be doing a lot of higher torqued bolts/nuts (and need speed in removal). The old large head fuel is junk in my opinion and the 3/8 brushed ratchet is awesome for things like 10mm & 12mm fasteners. It is the lightest of the bunch and preferred if not doing under-vehicle work. I run all of them on 2 amp hr batteries (auto wrecking work) and have been very pleased. I had broke a few of the non-fuel brushed 3/8s prior to buying the high speed ratchet. Milwaukee has a very good warranty and exchange policy. BTW I have Snap On ratchets as well. I really like their 1/4” but batteries, chargers, and misc things like covers and what not are way way overpriced.

@@zorbaseatery4745 I wanted an impact wrench that I could get into tighter spaces than my older original M18 platform Gen 1 midtorque. The stubby fit the bill since I can use the torpedo style 2.0 battery instead of the 6.0 boot style battery and maneuver it in some pretty crazy positions. The first day I got the stubby I ran into that scenario while working on a Honda. I normally run it with the 6.0 boot style battery, but slapped in the 2.0 instead which gave me the extra clearance I needed. Being able to make the stubby footprint even smaller by switching batteries is the main advantage over any 12v or 18v platform even the new Matco 16V stubby that has a similar boot style battery, but not a torpedo style like the M12. Like others have said in his stubby battle video I do believe the 1/2 stubby may hit a bit harder than the 3/8 with the bigger anvil and using normal sockets on regular fasteners. The 3/8 socket he fabricated for testing in this vid and other videos has a bit more mass added so inturn creates more force kicking the 1/2 stubby's ass lol. I just got the 3/8 since I already had a 1/2 impact. I have no regrets the 3/8 is pretty strong and gets off the majority of car and truck fasteners the key is using it with a 4.0 or 6.0 battery's and deep impact sockets for that extra mass to get the most out of it. I also purchased the newer Gen 2 midtorque not too long ago, because again I wanted something smaller than my Gen 1 midtorque and boy I'm sure happy I did. Believe it or not you appreciate the weight and size when your wrenching underneath vehicles. I use the compact HO 3.0 battery with it when needed other than that the stubby is my go too. The Bosch Anvil would be pretty cool on a stubby👍. This is exactly why all my Snap On stuff is headed for ebay and being replaced with Milwaukee. I've never bought any of it new (PRICE!) just when refurbs/secondhand have been on the truck and at a decent price which isn't really happening anymore in the current economic situation it seems...don't think you can beat Milwaukee for bang for buck really and the Dewalt was great too...

Also got a Milwaukee 3/8 drive socket set and I gotta say I live the thing, I got it cause I was tired of using my uncles snap on tools and decided I needed my own and I was already in the Milwaukee section they make absolutely amazing tools just wish the swivel was a little less floppy that’s my only complaint so far

Even their hand tools arent the same quality as these awesome Japanese high end tool companies are making now...its pretty sad but as a mechanic im going to buy what goes the furthest and performs the best for the price. Snap-On needs to wake up, they have too many old school fan boys tho happy to over pay.

I have a Snap-on 1/2" 18v lithium brushed gun, it's been a good tool and I'm happy with it. But I bought a M12 Milwaukee impact driver and drill because Snap-on asks too much for the same thing. So Snap-on bought this tool out recently so I asked for a demo. I walked up to a car in the workshop just a random one and tried to pull the wheel nuts and it failed. I said if it can't do that it's useless to me the Snap-on guy took his gun and walked out. It is a good idea because I already have their 18v batteries but if it can't pull wheel nuts off what good is it?

Plus dealing with rusty stuff which needs that perfect bite. Anyways, as it costs an arm and a leg...i pay off half one time half another. Should just pay it off really as i got the money just it hurts. Another problem....their promotions. I tell you what, i can get a jacket ( ''free'' ) if i ONLY buy another 400 dollars worth of stuff. As a new mechanic, I honestly don’t see the advantage to snap on anymore. Tekton produces high quality US made ratchets with life time warranty, 1-3 day shipping, real no hassle warranty processes. Their other tools are also all better than snap on and all carry life time warranty. The best part? Fraction of the cost. Milwaukee is the winner for impact wrenches, snap on can’t even coke close anymore and I honestly don’t know why you would go with snap on at all at this point. Everything they have is massively over priced

I've been in construction (electrician)b for over 40yrs. I had the first Makita 12v drill and it was amazing, 20yrs ago! At first, I did not like the Milwaukee 12v tools, I used them when they first arrived on the scene. Every Battery tool I own now is Milwaukee. Their grip as you can see in video fits the palm of your hand, Snap On to me looks like Chinese junk, Dewalt's grip is better but it doesn't feel like the Milwaukee, Milwaukee's tool fits in your palm unbelievably well. My little Stubby kicks butt. Best $$ I've spent on a compact tool!
