Going by the nhs standard of healthy weight the woman that was 177cm, was considered underweight. Like the nhs consider 75kg up to be healthy weight. Like wth?

Yes. And what's sadder is her first instinct was to say "I'm planning on losing the weight". She's conditioned to think she's never good enough that she has to make excuses to a stranger about her body. I really admire the girls actively trying to criticize and defy the unfair standards in kpop, but they're so few and far between because the industry destroys most girls' self-esteem to the point they can never speak up.

Well, this is Asian culture for y'all. I live in Japan and here people are obsessed with weight and looks too, I know in other countries such as China, Vietnam and Thailand things are like this too, but Korea takes it to a whole new level. They are truly, truly obsessed with how they look and how much they weight and the bullying about it is fierce. I refuse to wear makeup but in Japan and Korea not using makeup is considered basically a crime against humanity. I'm surprised 2ne1 rehearsed without makeup because yeah, it's not the norm. That's why she was bullied by the jerk. And I used to be bullied too in Japan but I've grown a thicker skin. I did reach rock bottom though thanks to the bullying I went through. I still have leftoverPTSD from it and it's been 10yrs already. Been a long journey to heal myself and learn to not care and not depend on people's opinions about myself.

I’m a 5’7” woman, and 117 lbs and under is underweight. In regard to the 2018 knowing brothers clip:… That girl was already underweight at 116 lbs. Her boss was telling her to get to 112 or lose her job and was essentially saying, get sicker and lose your health or you’re fired. Evil, evil, sick in the head.

I feel like the most despicable thing is how journalists and interviewers will press idols for answers about their weight, and EXPLICITLY for their hardest diets, nothing about sustainable healthy lifestyles. Several times I've seen idols edited with funny effects after saying they nearly died from their diets. Everyone wants to ask idols how they lose weight, but no one wants to ask how badly they suffered

Thing is, I definitely say his words are absolutely wrong, they are supposed to be admonished, but remember he said those words many many years ago. His opinions on this definitely changed, I'm sure he is respectful these days, because I know how much a person can change in a span of years. Things improved a little and I went up to a size 1 or 2 depending on the clothing item. Even at size 4 people always used to tell me that I was too skinny. I wasn't at all underweight tho. I don't feel good at a size 1. I can tell I'm severely undernourished in how I look and feel. The size these girls are being pushed to achieve is literally the size I'm at as a chronically undernourished sick person and that is so alarming. These girls look totally normal and healthy. The first time I saw the clip about Sulli I was so shocked bc she isn't overweight at all. In Korea they just think it's good to look almost bone thin for some reason....but they seem to have this ideal without taking into account what a body needs every day in it's basic health requirements to survive and function well. No one should be forced to eat less than allows them to get their daily nutrients in!!! Especially not young people who are still growing and being made to burn so many nutrients through their physically demanding daily activities. That is abuse! And what Shindong said is so disgusting. Like it's ok for you to be fat bc you're a guy but a girl should have to be super thin? Like no, how double standard can you be??? The only reason its like that is bc things are too male biased over there sometimes.

They have no consideration for body types either. I'm the same height and body shape as Park Bom and she's always hounded for being fat. She has a short torso and a large chest. They see her in a certain cut of shirt and it makes her look top heavy so they automatically assume fat, then talk about how skinny she looks a few days later in a different outfit.

2NE1 was marketed as being ugly. It hit them hard, especially Minzy. Being so young growing up in such a negative environment is terrible. Debuting at 14 is difficult enough already

but despite that they showcased their talents really well.Ngl I used to find 2NE1 ugly as well ( that was when i was around 9 when first saw them ) but as time goes on, their talents outshined their looks and I was stanning them for their artistry and found them really cool. I feel that YG lost a group of legends due to his trash ass of a decision to be biased towards BP, these ladies have proved that their talents can outshine their looks, it isn't easy to prove that unless you have an insane amount of talent, YG you are human trash

I've been seeing an increasing number of Toxic comments shaming and blaming these girls for sharing their diets and I know it's not healthy but they are just acting on what they've been taught and learned to do. It's important to remember the majority of idols don't have eating disorders and are not part of some sick pro-ana group, they are being pressured and at times forced to go on starvation diets because they're told they can't work otherwise. But they themselves also hate it and don't want to do it either.

I know right? And its so sad because i am naturally skinny and i was glad and happy about it until i started listening to kpop. When i saw those girls going on extreme diets i felt like i should do it too and now im underweight, im terrified of gaining even 0.1 kg and just want to lose as much as possible. Its not only bad for the idols' mentality but fans too, i cant be the only one who feels this way. We need more people like Hwasa and Amber in kpop and they need to get more attention because the shaming that goes on there is so damaging for everybody :/

That’s not healthy, I know some of them are naturally thin but why force them to lose weight? Edit: When you see these girls you admire them, especially if you’re young and you see them lose weight and dieting so you start to feel bad that you are also gaining weight. That’s also not good for your mental health. I hope these horrible standards would just go and everyone gets to live happy and healthy.

So many new kpop fans sees the kpop world in rose colored lenses, but it's such a cruel and honestly scary and sad world. Of course you're gonna like your idols but it doesn't mean they are exactly what you seem to see. Like my views on so many people has changed over time, yes I like their music, their voice and song and respect their hard work and talent, but it doesn't mean I like their personality, like I was shocked so many times to see my biases were horrible people lol, what I thought was comedy when I was 12 is trash to me now.... This is reality. No one's angle or innocent, everyone has tgeur flaws. It doesn't mean everything about them is horrible or bad, they have good in them too, but it's important to keep that in mind. It's not always what you see or think.

I’d feel like I belong on “my 800 lb life” if I stood next to any of those girls.

It always shocks me at everyone's reaction to laugh at these scarring stories. These people dead ass find these girl's traumas funny and it infuriates me.

@@marissa2075 Yup. Sooyoung's called her it too (which I find ironic and hypocritical because the two of them are famous for how much they eat). And iirc, Tiffany's expressed discomfort and annoyance at being called this. In addition, it's mainly because Tiffany has an apple shaped body, so her middle looks fuller than the rest of her body, even though she's nowhere near overweight.

@@panda-panda757 Tiffany's midsection is not necessarily her body shape but rather due to her having scoliosis (curve in her spine) If you look up those also suffering from it, you'll notice they too tend to have one side of their abdomen curved (like an hour glass) and other side straight.

I feel like taeyon in the last clip was trying to tell the girls to not be ashamed of eating/gaining weight but in a way that wouldn’t annoy their manager. It’s natural to eat at every age!!

Not really surprising when a man call woman fat but a woman calling out other woman fat??? I thought that would be easier to sympathize when you're on the same side
