In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Hi Dr Amira.. I am really proud that there is an Egyptian lady talking like that, I was living abroad and was in a French school that always made me feel less than the Europeans just because I have a darker colour and I am coming from Egypt. Till I found out the same point that I don't have to be accepted from them, I have my own confidence in myself and my country which made me really accepted by myself which is the important part :).. by the way, my husband was one of your students..

Thank you for watching and responding. Ideas are never right or wrong, they are ways to communicate, grow and develop. But some people are really uncomfortable with that, that is OK.

Thank you Sarah for your comments. I know that living abroad can be challenging, but taking pride in your identity will make it easier. The pride will shine through and will, with your character and skills bring respect and friendship. And who is your husband who used to be my student?

@AmiraMakhlouf I don't know to how start or what i should say but i am insisting to give a feedback since you really affected me and the issue is so common to me. I have been suffering from these problems in acceptance and adapting with the people i live with even my family, you can say i am being criticized almost everyday in every single decision i make or action i do till i get "Strange" "Mad" as nicknames, anyways i would really thank you for that awesome positive energy you gave and by the way you look beautiful and nice fashioned :D furthermore you got special something which makes me feeling am listening to my mum. Thank you :)

Thank you Medhat for your comments. I know that living abroad is not easy. I hope that my talk will help you create a balance between your own culture and the new society you are living in. Keep your identity, but be flexible enough to live and cooperate with others. it is not easy, but I'm sure you can do it.
