Sony’s handhelds always have a sexy design and high quality materials, I wish they consider releasing a new handheld and support it for a long time like the PSP.

I recently got a psp and tried it out for the first time and was absolutely blown away by its capabilities given the time it was released. Sony could dominate the handheld market if they were just good at marketing their products in a way thats appealing to gamers both hardcore and casual. There biggest mistake lies in them using their own form of memory cards to make more money instead of just allowing SD cards like Nintendo.

This is the perfect time for Sony to re-enter the handheld market, to compete with the switch. Cause a lot of people don't care for the kiddy characters and games from Nintendo, or a million Mario games. And want to play more mature games that are released for PlayStation

@@novachrono2236 never had burn in issue with my og vita or any other oled device I've owned. I know it is an issue for some, but that is the nature of the organic compounds witch makes some oled panels prone to burn and some not. Microled will be the thing to beat oled and have no risk of burn.

Whatever handheld is cheapest and the TV. Then I'm gonna slap the PlayStation TV to the back of the Vita and make a PlayStation Switch.

RedL I know you’re probably joking, but some Vitadock images leftover from the abandoned Kickstarter cropped up a few months ago and work great. It actually does turn a Vita into a PlayStation switch, with a little bit of help from a raspberry pi.

sony actually sort of accomplished something like that with the psp go that let you output to hdmi tv's and control the psp go with dualshock 3 controllers via blutooth. they even made a little dock for it called the cradle base

The benefit of the 3G model is that you can mod it and use a micro SD card adapter made specifically for the 3G connector on the board, which is functionally identical to mini PCIe. The Wifi 1000 and 2000 can only use a game card sd adapter of official memory card. The TV can use a USB device.

@@everykenyan yeah, it's called a PSVSD, the SD2Vita is for the game card slot. You do have to mod your vita to mount the storage, but it's not that difficult and because Sony doesn't really support the system anymore there isn't any risk of getting banned

I think the adapter for SD it's used in the storage card space, and also, i prefer doing that, than moding a entire part of the system, that can go wrong

I got both, but I'm always on my OLED 3g/WiFi. The weight doesn't bother me at all. But what I do like about my VitaSlim is the fact Sony gave you more room by making the rear touchpad shorter. I'd have to go with the OLED Vita.

I love my slim, I got it last year with my switch. The battery lasts a very long time, especially if you remote play. Also get a hori grip, it feels great.

Side note, 3G version can be be further modded to support an sd card in the SIM card slot to further increase memory, alongside SD2VITA.

There's a fifth model you didn't discuss: the Vita DevKit. It's essentially the same as the 1000 model, only it has an HDMI out. Yes, a native HDMI out.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but it's really unbelievable how ahead of its time this console was. The Switch had to get a second design for an oled screen when Sony had already accomplished it in 2012

Got 1000 in black and 2000 in silver, I think I'm same as you and prefer my 2000 . Thinking about jailbreaking my 1000 today also. Quakevita is really nice now

I ended up with the 1000 3G model, only because I was really wanting to pick one up that day, and it was the only model I could find after a trip to multiple stores. I've never used the 3G capability though. Too bad they didn't sell the 3G models unlocked, would have made more sense, especially if they would allowed it to be used as a phone as well.

I love the Vita, it is the best handheld device, great form factor, fits in the hands just right and the battery life when it is in sleep mode or turned off is exceptional. Not like my Switch which I have to recharge every week or so when I don't play it. I can put my Vita in sleep mode and it doesnt loose charge over a month.

I have 2, the 3g with the full Japanese Joestu shell case that adds extra trigger buttons and a grip which makes it really comfortable to hold and at the same time protecting the front and back of the vita. I also have a slim in mint condition still in the box, I've been trying to find a hori grip for it but scalpers are asking too much for it and just about the cost of an actual vita itself which is ludicrous . I've been thinking about hacking my vita but i own most of the games physically, I have only a 16gb card and heaps of digital content which is why I'm considering of moding one of them. I already purchased a Sd2vita card but been lazy and not sure if I should just leave the vitas in orginal factory condition. I have 2 Psps as well the orginal and slim, the og one is hacked and I had games on them but I found every now and then the memory card would get corrupted. I love my sony handhelds, such precious devices on gaming history. I still have 2 Nintendo DS and still collect games for my new 3DS XL, the 3DS and Vita are the greatest handhelds that give you unique gaming experiences that we will never likely ever see again. Both are great peices of hardware and makes you wonder what could of become if both manufactures improved on those designs. A 3ds with a full HD oled would of been a better on the go experience than a switch, the switch is great but it's not a true portable handheld that can fit in your pocket.

I got the vita 1100 which has 3G from Japan and I got the white and light blue vita 2000 which I love that combination of color for a system. I hacked the LCD screen registry settings to look more like the OLED and it looks way better calibrated.

I chose the slim for the charging cable and the battery life.

There actually is a reason to prefer a 3G Vita, particularly if you want an OLED model: PSVSD. This is an adapter which replaces the 3G modem, which is completely useless now, even if you wanted to get a plan (you can't anymore). The adapter is inexpensive, easy to install, and allows you to use game cards at the same time as your expanded storage (unlike SD2Vita).

Still got my preordered day one 1003 model. Still love it to this day, beautiful device. Currently playing the PSP port of Final Fantasy 1 on it, just awesome.

Can you tell me, I've owned recently a PCH-1001 model... ¿The Oled screen burns it with the usage?... I think it's a wonderfull device, amazing screen, long battery duration, incredible catalog, easy and large homebrew. I had a Nintendo Switch too since 2 years ago, but i'm very surprised with all that can do the Vita.

The 2000's only real pro from the ones mentioned is the extra hour of battery. Sure, it's a tad bit thinner, but it's the same area. So it's not easier to fit in your pocket or anything. It's lighter, but overall feel less premium. It feels sort of like a toy. One thing that wasn't mentioned was all the colors. That's a huge pro in my opinion. Your only choice with the fat one is white or black. Otherwise you'd have to shell out a bunch more money for the limited edition s.

I'd say the biggest pro is that it doesn't use a proprietary charger cable. The market can inflate the cost of those cables when supply is less.

you can actually get the 1000 model vita in other colors than just white or black, just import a japanese one.

1000 model was the pick for me since I love OLED and cant stand LCD screens, especially TN. I dont really care for battery life since I always carry a giant battery on me every where I go not to mention I have modded it which can help increase battery life tremendously with lower screen brightness and down clocking.

What a relief. I just bought the Vita and I didn't know that there was two models. Got bit sad to know that mine is the oldest, the fat, but for what I have reading, the fat is better on the screen . So ur comment made me feel better coz I do prefer better screen than battery. Also I bought the psp 3k . So when the vita die , I charge it and skip to the pap while this . Tks

thanks for the video I think I'm gonna go with the 2000 model, aside from 1000 model's OLED screen's possible side-effects which I preferably don't want to deal with (even tho the con is the screen I'll get in the 2000 model is a bit less bright/vivid in colours), being lighter in weight, having better button design, having better back/handle design, having a better battery performance, having switched to micro USB and having internal storage are pros that I'm definitely not gonna pass on

I recommend the model 2 PS Vita because there is a grip add-on from Hori that you can get for it. NihongoGamer reviewed the grip add-on for the model 2 PS Vita.

I have a 1000 wifi (the one i originally bought back in 2013) with ofw at home just lying around somewhere collecting dust, another sapphire blue 1000 3g with cfw imported from japan to take with me and a 2000 cfw that i just use for ps4 remoteplay (love the hori trigger grip!) When i am at work i mostly stream ps2 games with moonlight from my pc at home to my japanese blue vita, when i am at home i continue the game on my shield tv. The 2000 i use when my 1000 is charging or when i want to use ps4 remote play. Both are great but the 1000 fits my hands way better and doesn't feel as flimsy. I do also prefer the oled over the lcd, however if you have the 2000, i highly suggest to improve the color saturation with registry editor, it makes the lcd look so much nicer (still not as nice as the oled but much better than before) I can also recommend the hori remote play assist grip, in my opinion the only way ps4 remote play should be played. I am currently playing persona 3 fes on my 1000 after 100% completing persona 4 golden and before that i played most of persona 5, dragon quest xi and assassins creed origins on my 2000 via remote play. For every casual gamer i would say go with the 2000 and maybe get some kind of cheap chinese knock-off trigger grip if you are planning to remote play. For everyone with bigger hands or people who value better build quality of their consoles go with the 1000 and maybe (depending on your budget) get a second 2000 model with the hori grip. Also cfw is a must nowadays and it is easier to do than ever.

Back then wasn't have enough money to buy one, I always use to dream holding one. Now I have have one😭 and it's 2000 series, whatever it takes in 2020. Still worthy retrogames❤️

I've had the 1000 + 3g for a long time. It doesn't get too much use, so the OLED still looks crisp and new. I haven't bought a new game for it in a while, because my memory card is full and I don't feel like ponying up $100 for a 64GB memory card.

I am a bit of a Vita maniac and have both the 1000 model and PSTV. I wouldn't trade the 1000 for anything -- the screen quality is just gorgeous. I would like to buy a 2000 model also, though, both because it's a bit more travel-friendly (thanks to the standard charger) and as a failsafe for screen burn-in over the long run. The PSTV is a good little device, too, but the wasted potential on that one hurts my heart a bit. If Sony had made it a true streaming device (similar to Roku or Amazon FireStick) as well as a gaming system, it potentially could have turned the Vita's fortunes around in a big way.

I just bought an used Vita 1000 in Japan when having a trip there. Very cheap only 8000Y. I noticed there are screen burn like you said in the video when the screen is dark. But i guess that's not a big problem. I pick the 1000 model because of the OLED screen. I hope i picked a good model because i didn't do any research before buying the system (only know about the difference in screen between the models).

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know about OLED screen burn until i bought the system. But i guess burns comes because of usage right? Then every OLED screen will have a burn at some point. Dunno why i always go for the fat model since ps2, looks beefier and stronger than the slims. Apparently, the loading time is faster too on the fat vita model.

Degradation and burn in are two different things. The mura effect I mentioned in the video is the result of degradation not burn in. Since OLED is organic it will naturally degrade over time.

I have 2 fat Vitas. One was for my purchased games due to its higher firmware, and the other was for Homebrew. Now that all firmwares can be hacked, I plan on hacking my original Vita and selling it so I can use the funds for a slim. That blue color looks amazing

Does PS Vita 1000 wifi model and PS Vita 1104 3g Wifi has same body and screen as ive purchased a body and OLED screen replacement for my Vita it says compatible with 1001 and 1000 models just curious any ideas?

This is so sad to see. I remember seeing the reveal of it in a magazine at the library thinking it was the future. Fast forward to when I got it in 2017 at a pawn shop, with almost no games to play with it, and ended up replacing it with a switch soon afterward.

Oh the vita... What a great companion you have been. I truly encourage you, no matter what you get, please, mod it, not because "mUh PiraCY" (Unleast your game was delisted or region locked), but because how well you can transform the portable, I literally had the Switch Lite before Switch Lite even existed, hell, before the Switch even existed. You can get external controllers, all of your PSP and PS1 games (Yes, ALL), better framerate or resolutions (According to game), Fanpatches, and emulators that run pretty well (GBA Games run like a dream here). The Vita by itself has been the best portable I had ever owned, especially if you are a person that travels quite a lot, I had to do 3+ HOURS trips almost daily when I purchased one, and oh god it helped out, especially because I could play bigger console/PC tittles I had at home (DariusBurst, Gundam Breaker, Resident Evil Revelations 2), I could play in a better way my PSP collection (Busou Shinki, Strike Witches, Gradius), my PS1 games, and so on! And in my job, because of the external controller homebrew, I could pretty much play tabletop which was comfy as hell. And if you are in a more casual mood, please, for love of god, try out Visual Novels, I literally throwed more time than what I deserve in those. Oh... I forgot... You can use common MicroSD cards if you do the mod! Overall, I have even more consoles now, I'm moving to Japan and the Vita is really coming with me. I also do recommend if possible, the Slim model, because the Charging port is already a big point to me, but I had the OLED and it's an experience to play with that too. Get what you can, Vita is not going down in price never again.

@iLoveEbola It doesn't really matter, all of them (TV included) have a chance to get ENSO, which is what softmod you should get, at this point just get the model you think you would like the most.

Decided to get the 2k one over the oled ngl. I had the oled before and it was fantastic, the only issue was recycling through chargers which got annoying. My OLED version ended up dying on me one day and I couldn’t use it again(that and the port was damaged). Yes the screen is better but for the value and that extra battery life 2k>>

I've got a modded vita 2000 and it's a brilliant bit of kit 👌

Also, the Vita 1000 screen won't last as long life expectancy wise as the LCD one, so that's something to consider

"Physical released no longer produce outside asia" Technical true but not true. New game coming up. The King of Fighters '97: Global Match gets a PS4 and Vita Limited Run next Friday, February 22! And limited Run Games say that they released +10 PS Vita games. Nice you have 4 PS vita so you are true fan.

already got vita earlier version with about 70 games had for 5 years even a few limited run games I love the handheld so much its ashame thats its not supported anymore watched this because I'm thinking of getting vita tv beforei cant get it , I've been thinking about this for nearly 5 years I need to get I think

i'd probably get the 2000, battery time, standard micro usb. sounds like everything i could ever want from a handheld

So just a quick reply to a couple of things mentioned in this video. The chargers are readily available via Amazon (of course they're 3rd party but work just as well). The old PS Vita models actually do have internal storage, but it's locked away from the user unless they hack their console first. Then you can use a tool called 'IMCUnlock' to enable your internal memory card on 1000/1000-3G units.

@@everykenyan Not to mention you can replace the 3g module with an SD card reader. My 1k has a total of 3 memory cards mounted at once. 128gb SD2Vita 64gb PSVSD 32GB official memory

​@@everykenyan Well I'm not sure if it's still true, but at the time I set everything up you could only mount one of the memory cards for Ps Vita games. I use my SD2Vita (Game Cart Adaptor) for Vita games. I use the PSVSD (Internal 3g mod) for Adrenaline PSP stuff. I use the official memory for Retroarch emulators/roms etc. I haven't really swapped between them, but all the I/O seems slow anyway. The speed bottleneck from the system is probably universal for all memory. If I move something over USB it's way slower than just mounting the MicroSD on the PC. Basically, there is a hard cap that is probably worse than the worst MicroSD you can buy. IMO there is no difference but there might be.

2000 is definitely the way to go based on the internal storage alone

It's weird that the 2000 used an LCD screen instead of Oled since that would've allowed it to be even slimmer, theoretically

they probably wanted to cut down the production cost to reduce the loss or increase the profit on each unit manufactured/sold

i have the og fat vita and the slim. the slim is lighter, thinner, looks cooler but most of all it uses a standard micro usb cable, so you dont need to bring your charger as everyone one has a hundred micro usb chargers laying around

I perfered the ps vita 3g wifi bundle that I can take it anywhere for my entertainment and with some new video games with it too.

I like the design of the 1000 more. It's more premium. And colors look better. And still today the PlayStation Vita is a great device today. It's a shame sony left it behind. If it had the support of the psp and had cheaper memory cards it would be a great selling device.

Screens are 50 bucks to fix, get on it.

That extra 20 grammes weight was always a problem for me, only after several years of intensive weight training did I feel confident enough to attempt to lift such a heavy load.

Yes I own a Switch OLED and a Series X and buying a PS Vita 2000 model in 2022.

I have a Vita TV and a launch 3G Vita. I use my normal Vita to play games legitimately and earn trophies on my PSN account, while my Vita TV is soft-modded and I use it for capturing footage and homebrew.

Any performance differences between the 1000 and 2000 models?

I have 3G and to me It’s pretty good and I have a 8 g micro memory card

I own a 2000, and, quite frankly, the screen looks better than any device I have. It doesn't matter that it's worse than something else, it only matters that it's really really good. So, yeah, go with 2000, and, definitely mod it before use.

FBI FEDERAL GOVERNMENT I prefer the 1000 model more. The build quality was much better and the OLED touch screen looked much better and was more responsive than the LED in the 2000 and was less prone to smudges and touch screen glitches.

I think overall, at least for casual players, the 2000 is better, smaller, longer battery, longer lasting screen, micro USB, 1gb of storage. However if you're into hacking, the 3g is ideal, you can replace the 3g with an sd card reader and have internal storage, which just looks really clean and opens up the cartridge slot, and you have that beautiful screen. I don't mind the larger size and weight, however the decreased battery life is a bummer

PSVita Slim 2000 is the best one to have 1) battery life is 4-6 hrs 2) it has a 1gb internal hard drive, so u can play a physical on the spot or download a small indie game 3) it uses a micro USB so u can use a 3rd party charger 4) the back resting pads are wider so u don't accidentally touch the back pad The original Vita has a OLED screen which is cool but in time it gets dead pixels and it has no internal memory so u need a memory card regardless just to play a physical game, the charger is propiortery the resting pads are shorter and it weights a bit more and battery is 3-5. Its not worth it just for an OLED screen and i have both models but I'll take the slim any day over the OLED

So if I want to play warzone on the go I could if I download it on the visa or I have to leave my play station on at home

This system made me I gamer I love it so much I got the psp vita 1000 2000 and plastation TV I got all of them it's sad that it wasn't a successful. Now I don't even play it I got the Nintendo switch and the ps4 I haven't touched my vita in a year it's sad really so much potential wasted.

I would try to get a ps vita memory card stick to micro sd card adapter since micro sd cards are cheaper. I haven’t tried them tho.

If you plan to play your Vita regularly and the differences with the Slim sound appealing, go for it.

My local GAME sells these for a really good price, I might get one sometime.

Monsieur Bean They sold them for £30 for both the 1k and 2k. It's 1k for the screen, and 2k for good battery life. It depends which one's more important to you.

Somehow i was able to identify my vita using just the recharger port (i have the one with the circle ps button)

Bought psvita 1001 version for under 80 usd, mod and installed moonlight. Now playing p5 scramble from it. Sony really need to release newer gen handheld with 2 trigger buttons.
