Ghosting is almost gone and yeah, I get 1080p at lower internet speeds with my portable router now, usually it's 720p on a portable hotspot The update is great!

I've noticed a jump in smoothness when in motion. Panning the camera and fast moving games like racing, now exhibit less micro shutter. Which in turn has cleaned up the image further in many games... 😎👍

I was selling my portal as I have a deck and use chiaki but I think I’ll keep it alongside my deck after this update. It does look and run a lot better. You can still tell it’s streaming but the fps and motion looks a lot better in my experience

I got one yesterday and I was surprised at how smooth it was. Yeah there’s a little stutter from time to time but it’s actually very playable to the point you don’t have to think about it.

I’ma be honest as a portal owner I had NO issues with my mobile hotspot and have tripped my coworkers out on how smooth it runs with some drop but still a overall good experience playing it outside and the update made the portal more worth it for me while I was playing the stellar blade demo💪🏾💯 My consoles has always been wired connected 🤷🏾‍♂️

I noticed a huge improvement yesterday but didn’t think it would have been the update, then I saw this video

I never had any issues with portal as long as i had my ps5 set to 5ghs only. Also changing image from 4k to 1080p and turning off 120hz and hdr. I guess maybe now something like fortnite runs smoother? Havent had the chance to update or play it so thats ehy im asking

Yeah agreed. Was playing some ff rebirth after update it didnt look nearly as muddy as it had. Was a big improvement

hi sir ive recently bought a new ps5 portal ,i love your videos very exciting, i just noitice that i cannot find the icons as you decribe in your video that i cannot connect to youtube but it shows on the portal you can see the icons but you get a error code being blocked bye remote play you can see prime disney but unable to open as well youtube can you help resolve issue sir

I’ve noticed a definite improvement as of this update, I also run my PS5 on a hardware connection and my portal on 5G WiFi

Very helpful ,and I have to agree with you about Sony adding psn streaming to the portal. I don’t currently subscribe to psn, I’m a physical media guy mostly but I would definitely consider subscribing if the Portal goes that way. It seems all digital is going to be inevitable soon anyway. I use my PSPortal way more than I thought I would, Currently I am playing Hogwarts Legacy,GT7,The Last of Us Pt1 and I am replaying the Uncharted series. I ❤ all of these games..Thanks for asking. It's so good now!!! It's like different tech. Like by magic it has wifi6 or something. Signal never dropped or the quality of the video. It's amazing now. Even with 2.4 it has been flawless ever since.

I played elden ring first after the update and I think I noticed an improvement. Felt better quality and smoother experience But Then I played Tekken 8 and you just notice the micro-stutters. Actually, the fighting animations on the PS5 run super smoothly even on the steam deck with remote ps5(chiaki) but on the portal Tekken 8 stutter is noticeably

I did the update this morning. I did notice slightly better image quality in Rebirth and Medieval for sure. I still have the stuttering every 10 seconds or so when I start to walk or move the camera around though 😒

I wonder if some devices have worse stutter than others or it’s some network configuration issue!? Hopefully we will find out more soon or it can be resolved for users effected by it, do you notice it in all games?

Hey all, here is everything I've tried. I have lowered my res down to 1080p, disabled HDMI Device link, disabled HDCP, I made sure my ps5 was hard-line in to my modem and my portal connected to 5g wifi (no 2g, completely disabled) and I'm even directly underneath the access point. It's in all games I have tried it on. Spider man 1,2 3. FF7 remake and Rebirth, Medieval, all the uncharted games, sack boy, racthet and clank, ps1 Jumping Flash and Red Faction ps2. It's been there since day 1 for me. No big deal, still very playable. Oh yeah, I also unplugged the hdmi cable to see if that helped, but nope.

​@@meropolisnothing that you do will resolve this stuttering issue, all portals have this stutter every 10 seconds, if someone says their portal doesn't stutter is because they don't know what stutter is, or simple they don't care or notice it. The fix has to come from sony, no the user.

Im playing ronin on it and also mk1 fifa cyberpunk and so on. Many games and its running awesome.just optimize Ur wifi. Separate 5ghz and 2ghz and Just let the portal run on 5ghz

Definite improvement! I powerlined my ps5 and port forward it after I got my portal due to connectivity & lag issues. It did help with connectivity and lag, but man with update the image quality is stellar now! Way finer & pixelization wasn't bad since porting but non existent now

@purepsx I've returned back to hogwarts legacy & horizon zero dawn to start closing out my back log. But I really enjoy racing games on it like GT7 & NFS. I just downloaded the stellar blade demo that thing is 🔥

If the Sony PlayStation had a smart phone, it would turn that Playstation Portal into a controller with a display and increased sales, because it would look great be a PS5 controller with a display.Anyway, we wanted the Playstation 5 controller to have a display, on which you can do everything you do on the PS5 without leaving the game to go to the settings read and wrote messages, saw how much was left to download the video game, I would buy that right away.

Once I split the wifi and put the 5ghz on the portal I didn't get any more lags and the image quality improved immensely from the 5ghz signal.

It's amazing technology and how it can stream all ps5 games. only worry I have would be stick drift I think if they come out with portal version 2 they should make it oled and have removal analog modules like there playstation edge controller would be awesome great video once again 👍🏻

I've got my wired Internet connection set to 5ghz on my playstation 5 and then I just connect my Internet to the portal via WiFi obviously. Do I need to something to set my WiFi to 5ghz on the actual portal WiFi setting or once I've connected it to 5ghz on the ps5 console does the portal automatically play at 5ghz ? Sorry if that doesn't make sense lol

​@@antstockleyif I understand you correctly are you saying you have your ps5 connected by ethernet cable to your router for internet connection. but u have set it to use 5ghz WiFi and is running on a 5ghz wireless connection to your router for internet? Struggled with the message but the best possible way to play with the portal is to have your ps5 connected by ethernet cable to your router directly and the internet connection on your ps5 is set to use that and the portal connected to your router by 5ghz WiFi if your router supports it. This will minimise the latency the most and maximise internet bandwidth as well to give your portal as much connection as possible. What is your internet service provider (ISP)down load and upload speeds? Bear in mind for example if you have by any chance a slow connection , say 10mb download and upload and you also have TV connected to WiFi for netflix etc. and someone is using that and maybe one of the kids is gaming online, then you are going to run out of bandwidth which the portal needs a certain minimum amount to function adequately.

Is if true If you swirch the playstation 5 console to 1080p instead of 4k ans turn off the 120 refresh rate, it will bring a better picture?

Street Fighter 6 is a bit of a mess on the portal. I’m waiting for mine to update now and I’m praying it’s fixed it.

Welp just tested the update. I've got fiber for my net and just tested Dirt 5, Spiderman 2, Tekken 8 and can say it's not really a night and day difference like some say. For me the Logitech G Cloud using the PSPlay runs circles around the Portal and that is for sure a night and day difference. I love the Portal for the haptics in the controls but honestly if my wife hadn't bought it for me for Christmas I woulda sold it already. 😂

@@purepsx It is leaps and bounds better than Sony's remote play app. You can control the resolution, bitrate and more for a super smooth ride. Def worth the 5 bucks. They have one for the Xbox too that is just good. I use them both on my G Cloud and it is super rad!

My portal was perfect out of the box when it first came out. And after the first couple of updates it made it worse. Hopefully this update helps.

@@purepsx after I updated it it started to lag more. I was playing days gone and it was pretty noticeable. I’ve been playing final fantasy for the last couple of days and I haven’t noticed a performance improvement from the updates. My internet is 250 GB/s so that shouldn’t be an issue. It just randomly lags and cuts out. Which is weird because I have an oled steam deck and when I use the chiakifordeck program to remote play I have 0 issues. PlayStation just doesn’t know how to optimize their own products I guess.

​@@c28.Do you mean 250mbs internet speed for your internet service? That's very strange that your experience got worse over time? Is it a new router/internet service by Any chance or have you added some new devices to the network, new services like netflix etc or the internet traffic on your router has changed? More devices and more things being used will take up spare bandwidth little by little, depending on how much bandwidth said device/service needs/requires. Sometimes routers get bogged down with all the requests and back and forth of traffic depending on how busy it is and that can cause issues with service requests, imagine it's like a bartender and the more people ordering at once then the harder it is for him to keep up with the orders and delays happen, what used to be a lightning quick Google search and tapping on a link and instant page load, suddenly seems a bit delayed in response for that wep link to start loading , the loading is still fast but there seems to be a pause before it gets to that point of starting to load it on screen. You could try simple things like rebooting the router so it connects via your internet provider fresh and all the devices in your home will obviously reconnect when the WiFi connection is discoverable again.

still doesnt fix the ps portal issue with psx games

I’m totally in love with it, the screen, ergonomics, the haptic feedback makes you feel like you are playing the PS5 just on smaller screen. I also have a backbone controller for my iPhone, I haven’t touched it since the Portal came out

@@m3nace1313 No it's not worth it. I love Sony, but this one sucks. I use my steam deck OLED with chiaki4deck and it literally looks native, has HDR, and has updated haptics. The portal has a weird lag, can't get close to the clear screen since on the deck. It's not an Internet issue. I have over a gig. Get an OLED. I stream my PC and PS5 on it.

First, make a comparison side by side, 2.0.5. VS 2.0.6. on the same games that run on both Portals. Second, upload your video at 60fps, so the difference can be seen. This what you do, say about improvements, is called placebo. Without any solid proof.

The only thing this update did was to disable the hack, thus the lack of any detail...microstuttering due to the whole 59.xx hz vs 60hz is still present and quite obvious.

I haven't noticed any difference but then I'm getting old and probably have eyesight as bad as yours. 🙂
