@@johnniecrus587 yes it can be used anywhere as long as you have a ps5. do a little more research. yes i do believe it needs to be in rest mode, but as long as both the ps5 and portal are connected to internet it will work anywhere

i'm pretty sure your connection would have been way better if you INSIDE the starbucks and not in your car...

Too much freezes after the update. Hope Sony will fix it soon

It's crazy on the phone app remote play you can change the resolution and frame rate...which helps with weaker wifi connections but the portal doesn't give me any of those options come on playstation if your not gonna let me stream my platinum membership games which i know u could do let me have more control😅😂😅

I bought one 3 days ago from Walmart I haven’t been able to play much because of work but what I have played it was worth the price I love the screen and controller it fits like a glove I have been Playing Persona 3 Reloaded

I got mine about a month ago I’ve been playing it everyday I have my ps5 in the living room next to the router and I play in my room during the day time it’s choppy af but there’s a lotta traffic in my home during the day but at night when I get off of work it’s smooth af

Good video. Definitely insightful when it comes to the benefits and the bugs you might face when using your PS Portal in a public space. I think if you would’ve went into the Starbucks the connection might’ve been a bit better. Also, I don’t plan on playing online based games on the device. I’m more interested in playing RPG or solo experienced games. It would’ve been nice to see how those games perform under the speeds of public and hotspot. My PS Portal will be here in about a week and a half. Excited to see how it performs around the house. Being able to play in my bed while the system is setup downstairs sounds really convenient.

I use this at work now where the WiFi network needed a browser log in and it works great now. I’m playing far cry 6 and there is a tiny bit of lag away from home but nothing crazy.

It's pretty cool to see when you have a battery. You so percentages, so make sure how much batteries do I have and when you get charged? I wish to do the same thing with the PlayStation. 5 game controller and Xbox series exit S controller 2. So we could check how much battery it has and the percentages like every device is.. Like some phones or any type of technologies don't have percentages percentages is better so to see how much batteries do we have on our devices?I hope someday they do the same thing with the playstation five and xbox

One question. You know when you turn on your ps5 and the TV turns on also. So if I use the ps portal would it turn on the ps5 and the TV at home if I’m away ?

Hey Wolf, happened to me as well! I have a video on my channel called 'Reduce Latency on Your Playstation Portal: Quick Fix!' To fix this issue. After completing these steps unplug and replug in your PS5 AND TV/ MONITOR. Hope this helps!

I still have issues getting my iPhone hotspot working for portal. I can get it to turn on ps5 but stays on connecting to ps5 and nothing.

Great device in general. Not so much for racing games. Doesn't steer anywhere near as good as a regular controller. Played GT7 and ACC. Apart from that it's great. They've improved remote play to where it's good now. No need for hard wiring ps for a good connection. All in all, id say the portal is a success for £200. I own a fair few handhelds. Legion go and portal are my go to devices.

Bruh just buy a $200 12" tablet and $60 remote and BOOM! Use remote play, and you can you Bluetooth, web browser, or even run KZread or Spotify in the background..... Ive been playing my ps5 while gaming on the road since 2020.

I’m with you, remote play for both Xbox and ps5 with one device. I just don’t get it.

They cap such public wifi networks, no surprise. (sometimes it's called load balancing so everyone has some bandwith to do simple things on their phone)

Sony recommends 2.4 but in reality when the ps5 is set to 5ghz only connection your portal runs way better than when its not on 5ghz only..

Dumb question. Can you play something on the portal while someone else is using the ps5? Like can I play on the portal while the console itself is say on Netflix?

Hey Cosmic, it’s a common question! The PS5 can only do one task at a time so If you want to use the portal and play a game. The PS5 will only be allowed to stream the game to your portal. I’d recommend purchasing another PS5 (maybe second hand) if you or someone else want to watch Netflix.

remote play is basically controlling your PlayStation via Wi-Fi so the ps5 is still doing all the work

I still cannot connect 2 portals with different profiles to my PS5 Slim 😭 Hope they add this feature to the PS5 in the next update.

I notice there is less input lag because I can actually play fps and aim

Haven't had any stick drift problems. I avoid this by washing my hands and drying them before picking up the device. Same goes with the dual sense controller. No snacks or greasy chips near my controllers.

There is a tear down vid on YT that shows the sticks can be replaced by a simple quick release plug connection no solder required. So they have tight about it. old ones out new ones in. So not such a worry. BUT getting the screen off without breaking it to allow access behind it. Not so easy looking😮

I don't have a playstation protal just yet but my most favorite game to play on the the playstation portal would be MLB the show 21 or mafia 3

Let us know when cloud gaming is released. That’s when I’ll buy it.

Your portal should remember the wifi network. Mine does.

I went to 4 Starbucks & absolutely no connection or QR CODE was giving to me & went to a restaurant with free Wi-Fi & I got the QR CODE then went to scan it thur the Playstation App (4 times) & kept getting CANT SIGN IN to my Playstation 5 on the screen....very frustrating....I'm done trying public access on this portal....will only utilize my Steam Deck like usual....

Sorry to hear about your experience! Yeah connecting to the public wifi's can be a little tricky. I usually use my Hotspot most of the time. For now we just have to wait until sony releases a dedicated handheld to play offline ect... I'll upload a video if things get better over time with connecting to wifi

I'm using a mobile 5G WIFI with a 5G network. The main problem is that NAT Type 3 and I've to switch to 4G instead of 5G...

Been locked in on Destiny 2 😅 just pve stuff. But the non shooter I play most on my portal is mlb the show

I love my portal. But for live action games it’s not the best. There is a wheee bit of lag. When you are trying to land head shots you feel it.

I don’t understand why I’m at home and I have to still restart my portal before connecting to my ps5 always says try again or dismiss. Restart the portal and then it connects just fine is it just me?

Nope just keep it in rest mode and once the portal wanted to connect the ps5 wakes up. Once your down gaming on the portal, your ps5 will go back into rest mode.

The 8 inch screen and correct aspect ratio is nice on the portal. One thing that bothers me about the steam deck and chiaki.

Both but with physical you have to insert the disk to play the game. Not ideal if your not home or away from home on vacation! Digital all the way imo

Update: After fiddling around and a PS5 restart, finally got my portals with different profiles to connect to my PS5 Slim. Here's the steps I did, primary Portal with my main profile need to update to 3.0 and re-login again. Then I updated my 2nd Portal with my daughter's profile and do the same. Finally after a PS5 restart, both can login to their profile remote play. Hope you guys find this useful.

How are you able to get only 7Mbps on a 5G connection? It should be at least above 200Mbps to even call it 5G.

I prefer my Fold 5 with the Backbone attachment and the PlayStation app. Big screen and when I'm done I can just fold it back up and put it in my pocket. Lol

Before this update there was only one way and that's to turn off the portal and place it on the charger. That was the only way to see it until this update. If you were able to see the % in the control center before this update then your one lucky portal owner! 😂

It won’t give me a QR code on hotel WiFi it just says something went wrong

@johnathancamarillo1202 try restartingThe portal! If it doesn't work, call the front desk/ IT and ask them to help you connect to the wifi manually. They should be able to supply you with port numbers to enter into your Portal.

Also besides issues with network, laggy OS , increased boot up time and other problems reported already on rEdit. GG Sony.. PS. Factory reset didn’t fix anything.

Right now im replaying god of war so that i can play god of war Ragnarok afterwards Im also playing multivurses super fun on the portal And also getting in som mortal Kombat 1 matches in there as well!

It’s streaming from the PS5 so whatever you download it’s installed on the ps5 and the portal can play

I can’t stand the fact that we’d have to stream it. So it’s a pass for me. If Sony comes out with a system that’s similar to switch where you can download games onto it, then I’d be interested.

The PS Portal is a waste of 200 dollars. Period!

Am I the only one noticing the improved bitrate? The picture was clear before, now it’s clearer and less artifact. It’s like switching to 4k from 1080
