Might as well be a scam. It was crowd funded years ago and has undergone at least one substantial hardware change, if not multiple substantial changes. I doubt it'll ever be more than a forever changing prototype at this point. And even if it does ever come out as a product, it won't be that great in all honesty; people are wanting a handheld gaming pc the size of a widened controller, that's not going to happen any time soon, and probably never will considering that as hardware becomes more powerful, software becomes even more power hungry.

Well if it coming in 2019 it makes sense that they would use Zen+ / OG Zen because it takes about a year to design a console. So you can't use the lastest and greatest, but if it's 2020 I can't see why they wouldn't use Zen 2, although maybe they are just working with AMD to point out weakness in the Zen architecture now to bring optimisation to Zen 2 that will help with gaming performance, which would be good for all gamers. Console and PC... well not mobile gamers, but there not really gamers so who cares :p Although it's a little late to be changing Zen 2 as AMD already said the design is complete right. but honestly I can't see AMD making a custom core architecture just for Sony, as why I think it's just them pointing out weakness in the old architecture to improve the future architecture that both consoles and PC will use, although I suppose it could be a Zen 2 / Zen+ hybrid like the PS4 Pro's GPU was a Polaris / Caribbean Islands hybrid. Maybe a 6 core CCX like Zen 2, but otherwise more similar to Zen+ maybe build on the 7LP node to allow for a lower TDP with higher clocks, maybe some further cache improvements, I still doubt they would go for 8 cores and 16 threads because while yes a 8 core 16 thread Zen 2 part will likely come in at $250~ and Sony could probably get that cut down to $180~ you still have to make the rest of the system and with like 16GB of GDDR6 a GPU that would likely cost them $120~ thats cutting it a bit close when you add in everything else as with just the CPU and GPU you are at $300 to produce the damn thing 16GB of GDDR6 will likely come in at around $70. Unless it's a $500 console I don't see it.

1: Your PS4 is used at $100 because it's OLD and USED. (Should see what a used computer gets you.) 2: Linux. And Windows is not $100 unless you don't know how to buy it. (used) 3: Scaling to 4k on console is not actually 4k. 4: I have a far larger game library that spans decades. Steam alone I have 517 games. Most of which I got on heavy discount Steam sales, humble bundle, GoG, etc. 5: GPU prices? Again a Used ps4 with 5 year old hardware v.s. a NEW GPU Price? Really? Try harder. Oh yeah and incase it wasn't clear, you should probably look up how to build a budget gaming pc that still kicks your consoles ass. Try some realistic comparison then.

Do I? Mine has lasted 4 years and I'm only upgrading the cpu and gpu on the coming 5th year. And only if I find I must for the next gen games. Currently I can still run everything fine at 50 to 60 fps. I just want my 120 fps because I can. Still have my HAF XB Evo case for life. Still using my power supply unit, cpu water cooler, drives, and case fans. A console owner has to buy a whole new system at the whim of the company you slave to or else you can't even attempt to play latest games. And if you don't do it on that first year it's released then you cut short the time you give your money until you are forced to upgrade again. Funny thing is I own PS4 because I thought it would be different for once. But I haven't touched it in years. The only upside was the slightly cheaper VR intro. Which was crap. I ended up ditching and selling it off for the Oculus anyway.

Juan Sambucetti look the consoles have one thing, optimisation, for God sake the party has ddr3 8gb a sata 2 interface and 2. Something GHz 8 core with a architecture that's old as ps3. With a hd 7850 basically and it can hit 4k 30 is nothing short of astonding. It's a hunk of garbage, but that garbage can do 4k which is bewildering how much that custom flavor of Linux (I think it's free bsod) and it can get that performance. Yes it doesn't look as good as a PC. Still though that is a software engineering marvel.

AMD won't have anything Siliconwise for the OEM and ODM markets until Spring 2020. Navi won't be out until Autumn 2019 and will be WELL behind Ampere, and Zen 2's supply and silicon won't be ready for taping until the Start of 2020. Meaning 2021 would be Sony's best bet, but they'd be phased out and outpaced by SEGA/Alethiea Games' Razor which would be out in 2019 and Nintendo's upcoming MH project which will be out in 2020.

Exotic Razor Is base PS4 hardware still a big deal? No, because it's many years old. You have to pay a bunch more money for a PS4 PRO and even then you can buy a similarly priced PC with the same or better performance, no paid online, more freedom of choice, and viable upgrade path that doesn't mean paying $400 every 3 years or so.

I'll wait for the PS5 Pro.
