Holly sh!t... I just saw your amazing video and it blew me away!!! That is by far the best explanation and guide if seen when it comes to fixing game consoles! 👌👍 That's definitely god level! Respect! I'll follow your channel and I'm very excited to see what's coming next. Keep up the good work. And also thank you for sharing the pdf guides, absolutely amazing content! 🙏😉 There's is another guy who's doing repairs on entertainment electronics on his KZread channel. Mainly game consoles like Playstations, Xbox and Switch. He don't explain to much in his videos but showing the hole repair process. Starting by analysing the problem (same route like your guide in this video I think) and finally repair / replace / fix the broken part. He's also fixing ripped off traces and pads on the pcb boards. Most professional and cleanest soldering jobs I've ever seen. You both guys should start a joint venture! 😉 Would be the best combination of explaining and repairing videos! 😜 If you're interested to check his content, his channel is named PCB Solder (Berlin)... Ram resistance relative to ground can be more than 40ohms, it depends on the manufacturer of the ram. Samsung ram measures low, 30-50ohms, where as micron seems to measure around +100 ohms, all of which are fine and working.

I recently just found your channel, and WOW is this incredible stuff! The information here is just so darn valuable, and I'm so thankful you've taken the time to create it and share it with us all! I am a former arcade technician. I have been doing software engineering for the past several years. I love to learn about things, fix things, really enjoy soldering and fault finding. Just two weeks ago, I repaired my first PS5 console by installing a new HDMI port and giving the console a good cleaning of all dust / debris build up and maintenance on the liquid metal. The console now works wonderfully. I have ordered my second broken console, a power off situation, and it should be here soon. I am excited to start figuring out what is wrong with it! This guide will be so very useful for me!

Please make more guides like this. I run an electronics repair company and would absolutely love to show these videos to my technicians to better train them. An Xbox Series X guide would be super helpful as well. Furthermore, if you have any advice on PS5s that are crashing out of games with error code CE-108255-1 I would love to hear it. My shop has had a few of them come in for repair and none of my staff can tell me an answer as to what can solve the issue. Would love to hear your thoughts. Great work!!!

Hi, Thank you for your kind feedback! I will try to make more these video's in the future. If the PS5 is crashing during the game it could be a temperature problem or a defect RAM / or Flash memory problem it also could be component that is failing these problems are hard to diagnose. Maybe you could read the error codes by soldering serial wires to read the southbridge error codes maybe it could indicate a faulty component. Gr. Jim

Thank you for watching. Green screen is new for me, but high demand maybe a thermal issue? Try checking the metal liquid of the APU and check if there are dry spots. Be carefull with liquid metal is can create shorts on the mainboard. Gr. Jim

@@fixmyappjim Thanks for reply! I checked the liquid metal and add more to be safe its not making porblems, but still the same issue. It seems the thermals are the case but im thinking one of components are going bad and making this issue, but im not sure what else could do that if not APU GPU side. I have seen in internet same issue if searching ps5 green screen crash, but havent found solution.

Hi. I don't know exactly but i suspect that the PWM signal comes from the APU. Check if there is a PWM signal present with an oscilloscope, also if this signal is not present then the fam should spin on max rpm. If it is not spinning check the powerrail that supllies the power to the fan. Gr. Jim

Hi on my to do list :)
hi do you have one for edm-020
Thanks very informative. So I am missing the 3.3V STB at the capacitors and I have a couple caps that are reading short on the back of south bridge ic. The PS5 is dead, but I do have the 12v, 5v, 3.3v, 2v, 1.8v rails on the back of the board. I didn’t test the front yet. Does this mean my south bridge is gone and needs replacing? The PS5 had damaged usb port in the back and I believe that is what possibly did it.
@fixmyappjim

It could me the Southbridge IC but it could also be a capacitor that can be shorted. I would inject 1V at 2 Amps to the shorted capacitor and check which component get's hot, check with thermal camera or alcohol. Gr. Jim

Hi thank you for your info. I don't have a ps5 board to check this voltage now but the Southbridge also use 1.8V STBY so i think you are right. Gr. Jim
Thanks a lot mate for this detailed video. Its awesome. At 30:50, instead of having 3.3v I have 1.8v there for an EDM-010 board and at 36:33, I dont have the 1.8v STB voltage. Other than this, everything tests ok with STB and PowerON voltages. Moreover, the lower voltages near HDMI IC is absent. For the stanby boot sequence, I have 80-100mA power draw, holds here for few seconds and then it goes to 0mA. The console beeps every 10seconds but no light. Can you direct me?
@fixmyappjim
5 ай бұрын
Hi, This is correctly 1.8V can be measured near F7002. Because this is an other revision of the ps5 board. It could be a bios / SSD / Memory issue, also you can solder serial wires to read the UART error codes. See youtube for a tutorial about reading error codes. Gr. Jim

@@DrCryogenic DRM, or Digital Rights Management, in the context of the PlayStation 5 (PS5), refers to the technology and measures implemented by Sony to protect copyrighted content on the console. So indeed it could be firmware / ssd related.

First of all thank you for great video! On my PS5, instead of 3.3V there is 1.8V on the voltage regulator output (30:52 in video). It is designated as SBVA T107F but I can't find it anywhere to buy. Is it OK to use TLV62090RGTT on that place? Best regards, Marko

Thank you very much on your answer! @@fixmyappjim My revision of board is EDM-010. As I understood on some forum voltage regulator output (picture on 30:52 in your video) should be 3.3V on EDM-010 boards, and 1.8V on EDM-020. So I am not sure should I change my chip or no. Also do you maybe know what are the values of resistors on the left side of the SBVA T107F chip? I think that I burned some of them because now my output voltage from regulator is 0.9V...

Hi, if the layout of the components are the same then yes these 3.3V and 1.8V are standby voltages and are needed, check board if you can find them or check resistance / shorts. Gr. Jim
Great guide, I have a problem with my PS5. Every single PS5 disc game I try to load up gives me an error CE-108255-1. Ive done fresh install and reinitilise on the system. The console installs the game discs ok, but every PS5 game gives that error and won't even boot. Its strange because I tried PS4 games and they work perfectly on it...any idea what could be the problem? Many thanks and keep up the great work

Hi i never had this fault it seems to be a software problem or the cd drive is faulty. Keep in mind that the blue ray drive is married to the console. If you gonna replace the drive you also have to swap the ic to the new drive. Gr. Jim
Do you have a discord server? If not, You should make one and i could help you set it up!

Hi there. Can I please ask whether or not there should be a clock signal present on pin 6 of the bios chip and at the 32.768khz crystal oscillator at all times? As you said it receives power from the 3V battery when the console is not plugged in. I'm not seeing this signal on the oscilloscope. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi PIN 6 of the BIOS chip should start when the console is booting up, when you press the power button the clock signal should be generated to communicate with the BIOS IC. The 32.768khz crystal oscillator should always be generating this frequency. It is used for the real time clock. Check is the coin cell battery is present and voltage is +- 3V if battery is ok it should generate this frequency, if not present you have to solve this problem first as the Sourthbridge will not work without a clock signal. Thank you so much once again mate. My problem is definitely in this area. I have voltages of approx 3.17 very close to the crystal, but none actually on the crystal itself, therefore it does not produce the frequency. I changed the South bridge, but no change. Deep down I knew it's because of the missing clock signal. I even see the attempt of data transfer on an oscilloscope between the bios chip and South bridge...but without the clock, everything shuts down. Thank you brother!
Hey everyone quick question in standby mode f7002 I get 3.3v and 5.1v but exactly place on the other side of the board I get 1.8v and 5.1v on standby. The video shows that I should also be getting 3.3v but I’m not.

I don't know what the fault is in your case, but there are some revisions of the board it can be ok if not try to analyse the +3.3V circuit. Gr. Jim
