Uploader has looped a 5 sec clip for an hour in such a way that you can't see it. The menu animations are naturally looped so it's pretty easy to do.

Something about this music pulls on some sort of nostalgia that I don’t have yet. It’s like I can feel myself connecting with a future me over the memories I’ll have on this system, and particularly this iconic music. It’s able to be calming, yet reflective in an eerie sense. The chord progression creates this air of finding solace amidst chaotic times which is surely indicative of the world around us right now. Sony has managed to immortalize a feeling of relief coming out of a major historical time period.

Yeah, definitely. Recently managed to finally get a PS5 myself. It was so exciting, and though I'm an adult (22) I did feel a bit like a kid. I think that the fact I managed to get one despite it still being hard to get, plus the controller which has been talked about by so many added to me feeling like a kid. Then of course you've got it all plugged in and booting it up for the first time. Also finally being able to experience the DualSense. That was so amazing! I'm sure it'll be a memory that'll stick more with me than with when I got my PS4. That was my first Playstation console I owned myself. I think I purchased it for myself as a birthday present. I do remember how things were and went, kinda. Fun fact, the PS2 is as old as myself. (2000) when I was younger, an uncle of mine owned a PS2. That's technically my first interaction with Playstation. Sorry if I went a bit off track at any point. 🙃

I got the PS5 last week and this melancholic theme was the first thing I noticed. Interesting how they put much emphasis on it. Felt like the console is directly peeking into my soul and saying "why did you come here?". In a sad voice. Felt like the both of us are lost in the abyss, connected as one.

I honestly have an emotional connection to this ambience. Have had my PS5 for about a year and a half now, and man so much has changed since the first time I booted it up and heard this. But no matter how good or bad things got, this was consistently there to greet me every time I turned the system on. It has a true since of serenity and comfort to it, as if no matter what uncertainty lies ahead this will always be there as a safe spot to decompress and relax..

Yeah. But it's also a bit disappointing that the Switch only has a black and white menu theme. Kinda miss the whole theme system of the PS4. Sadly not all games have music for the menu. So you have this nice music playing. Though it doesn't really fit or suit some games.

I only lived through 4... I mean, I was born in 2001 so I never lived through the PS1 generation! Instead, I lived through the generations of the PS2, PSP, PS3, PSVITA and PS4, and the PS2 Slim was my first console! So far, I have played PS2 Slim, PSP and PS3 Slim but I never actually get to play PSVITA and PS4! For this reason, I'd like to skip the PS4 to buy the PS5 soon!

I was lucky enough to experience this on my uncles PS5. Gives this kind of mixed PS2 and PS3 vibes and I love it. Definitely gonna buy a PS5 as my 2nd console for the exclusives as soon as it‘s available here in Germany 👍 Update: I‘ve finally got the chance to buy one at a resonable price since retailers still don‘t have it on stock. The new Ratchet & Clank, one of my most anticipated games for the PS5 is just around the corner, so I didn‘t want to miss this oppurtunity. As much as I like my Series X, I still will use it as my main console, the PS5 has really something special about it. This menu theme really underlines it. In 10 years, we sure will remember both, the Xbox Series X and the PS5 as special consoles, that launched in difficult times…

This sound makes me think "This is the future of gaming, listen all the way we have done from the early years of playstation" So nostalgic... I will remember all my life the day one of my PS5. I am 30+ yo, but I went to the shop with my mother, she was part of the event :)

I don't even play on Playstation anymore but I heard this menu music going on in the background through a friend's mic (we were on a crossplay game) and thought it sounded nice. It's very relaxing and I love it!

And I thought I had become accustomed to such things but the tears on my keyboard tell me otherwise. We must remember that nothing lasts forever and people change overtime. I carry many regrets in things I've done and said and maybe if I had done otherwise things would be different but the road has been laid in front of me and I must come face to face with the results. Again cherish these moments now. Because before you know it they become distant memories fleeing your mind. And uh. I guess cheers to another generation of playstation. I may not be going into this generation how I wanted. But I intend to move forward and make the most of it.

Agreed I love the PS5 but I think the menu music sounds more downcast and ominous than the PS4, which was more soothing. It encourages me to shut the PS5 off quickly when not in use because the music just has bad vibes.

Best music menu ever made in consoles. I had cry with this song.

I just got a PlayStation 5 not too long ago... And the menu music gives me vibes of both the PlayStation 2 but also some Watch Dogs and Portal 2 soundtracks. It's in a way very nostalgic but gives the feeling of cold air rushing through you with goosebumps giving chills on what may happen next. It's breathtaking but also... Mysterious at the same time.

This is what gives a console its character, it’s vibe. This is why whenever we hear the PS4 main menu music we instantly think of the PS4. Same can be said here about the PS5.

The PS4 menu music was okay. But this?! Oh man I absolutely love this one! Very ambient and I guess a bit futuristic too. Also a bit otherworldly. The PS itself looks futuristic too. Which is something I also like. Some things I like about this one is hard to describe. Like how certain sounds fade in and out. I think that this one is more similar to the PS2 menu music than the PS4. The PS2 was just wind noises, and PS5 is that but in sounds/music.

I like how they went the PS4 route but also went the mysterious route of the 2 and 3

Lemme just indulge in my kushed up thoughts in here. This takes on a much deeper shade than the PS4’s menu theme, eliciting feelings of melancholy and foreboding. Though it also projects an otherworldly sort of sad and ethereal character. It’s an apocalyptic ambiance with a shade of hope. Serves well to underscore these uncertain and surreal times we live in. It begs to remind me of the fact that it’s not completely unlikely that this could end up being the last console generation. Yet there’s some hope to be found in there too, the hope that in 10 years or so this pops up in the recommended section, just awakening some fond nostalgia. It's a dichotomy of moods all in one spiritual session. Ps5 vibe is one chill journey. It guides you to access of different memories while taking its time. Stress fades as you gain your control back. Vision becomes clearer. Answers become more obvious. Priorities become easier to order. You are put back into the driver's seat.

I got to admit, I had shivers crawling up my spine and it’s still happening during the typing of this comment.

I miss the PS1 boot up screen, and boot up screens in general, but... This is perfect, I think this is finally a worthy replacement. Absolute props and thanks to everyone involved in finally bringing personality back to a console :)

2:10 In this part of the music I don't know why but I feel that it brings back memories and sometimes makes me try to think about my future self on a great and cool night with a beautiful view of the city thinking about my past, all the crazy things I did as a child remembering parties with friends and classmates and everything I've done to get there. Basically I only think about my future with this and already but it relaxes me a lot.
