Benelux Ball You can if you want, but it is a movie for little kids, after all. Suitable for 3-8 year-olds, definitely. I may sound like I am going soft and I may like to hear Animat really rip it a new one when it comes to bad animated movies, but I’m not the type to judge to harshly. I mean, sure, it’s not something that would be my cup of tea, but if I had kids of my own, this would be something that they would enjoy and it is definitely a colourful kid distractor.

Benelux Ball By the way, 10 years before this movie was released, there was another Playmobil film, the first movie of its brand, only it was a direct-to-DVD movie, 88 minutes long. It’s called Playmobil: the Secret of Pirate Island. The cast is Canadian, which includes Scott McNeil, Ashleigh Ball, Lee Tockar, etc and most likely produced there as well. The animation is super cheap and the special effects are 2D drawings in a 3D environment.

They’re both (In my mind) some of the worst animated films ever made, they both blatently plagarize The Lego Movie with little originality, they both have detestable characters that give their films a shockingly mean-spirited tone, and they both use so many cliches you’d think the writers couldn’t find anything fresh under the sun!

Fun fact: The script used in this movie was supposed to be the script The Lego Movie would use, but then the team members behind it knew that it won't work, so they remade the script. But, therefore, the writers of Playmobil The Movie used the old and "deleted" script that The Lego Movie was supposed to have.

I know I'm late, but predictions. Story: 1/10 Characters: 3/10 Animation: 5/10 Overall: 3/10 Edit, so now I know I got Story and Characters spot on, animation is 1 off, and apparently, there are songs in this movie... must've been painful. And the overall rating is spot on! This was fun, I think I'll do this more.

It dosent just copy the LEGO movie... it also copies finding Nemo.. let me explain, it’s about this person who is full of Wonder, until a death from their loved one happens and left with one person to take care of then they one day run of to a place and get taken, and it’s up to that person + with a comic relief to save him. And later a person comes and tells the small boy the person is coming and did a lot to get him.

Looks like Animat's best & worst animated films of 2019 is clear. Well, almost... Best: 5. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part 4. Missing Link 3. Frozen II 2. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World 1. Toy Story 4 Worst: Tie (5, 4, and/or 3): - Wonder Park - The Addams Family. - Ugly Dolls 2. Playmobil: The Movie 1. You should have included Klaus the animated film from netflix on one of the best, for its stunning revival of 2D animation. It's pretty stunning that they were able to make a 2D film look 3D just by adding shadings and other effects on the background that makes the film look 3D but its actually 2D

I understood what you meant when you said that the movie doesn’t take advantage of this movie being “Playmobil”, because if this movie was all live action, then nothing would be much different.

This is the second year where Animat gave 5 garbage seals since 2013. Ironically, both years have a frozen movie. Also, emperor Maximus feels like a cheap version of the king from Hamilton.

This movie was released over here in Spain a few months ago, on August 30. Around three weeks after that release, I was left like with a very uninteresting lineup of movies and, since one of my two local theaters was still screening it, I was considering checking it out because of the negative buzz, just to see how bad it could be. However, in the end, I just chose to not spend my money on this in favor of just waiting until better and more interesting movies came out that would be a better use of my money than this one. Whenever I see reviews like this one, for some reason a part of me feels very proud of that decision. Almost like I had dodged a bullet there or something.

The Fifth Animat Seal of Garbage this year?!?! Wow, it’s 2013 all over again for u isn’t it. And coincidentally 2013 and 2019 were years that both of the Frozen films were respectively released. THE FROZEN CURSE IS REAL! THE FROZEN CURSE IS REAL!

That Robot Chicken Playmobil sketch where two cowboys try to explore and adapt to the Playmobil world outside their comfort playzone is honestly a much better Playmobil movie than this.

Warner Bros:Ummm guys, we need more brands to rip of lego. Executive:OOH! We got some! Funko Pops and Playmobile! Warner Bros:Perfect!

I don’t know if this makes you feel better or not, but the director of playmobil: the movie directed the new 40 minute Christmas special reindeer in here, which is based on the book & plush gift set of the same name. It’s a very funny and heartwarming special.

The "I am your worst nightmare," "No, you're not a pinniata full of bees" joke at 2:46 is pretty much copied from The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, but drastically less funny. It's at the end of one of the trailers. A pinniata full of bees seems to have replaced "me when I'm late for school, forgot my homework, and my pants are made of pudding."

My only question is how the heck did they get Daniel Radcliffe, Meghan Trainor, and Adam Lambert on this movie?

Those years are also scarily similar because both Frozen films were released in those respective years. The only difference between those films is that while the first one earned the AniMat Seal of Approval, the second one did not, but it was close though. And now with this film being placed behind Arctic Dogs, I think it’s easily predictable that Arctic Dogs will be the #1 worst animated film of 2019.

2019 kinda sucked in terms of animated films. The only good movies we’ve gotten are How to Train Your Dragon 3, The Lego Movie 2, Toy Story 4, The Missing Link (or so I’ve heard, I haven’t seen it myself) and possibly Frozen 2 (again, haven’t seen it yet). The rest have been mediocre at best.

This year is what I liked to call "The Animated Sequel Crash" Basically we have been getting way too much animated sequels shoved in our faces so much, its caused original animated movies to flop, but also sequels too. If you were not Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 or HTTYD 3, any sequel this year would flop in the box office, or be like Pets 2, where it would be deemed a disappoint to the studio. I remember seeing Angry Birds 2, while yes in my opinion, was a funny self-aware movie, in fact I found it so much better than the first movie, there was barely anybody there

At least it's not 2017 where most of the animated movies were terrible and Coco blew the other animated movies out of the water. 2019 had some amazing ones, like HTTYD3, Missing Link, The Lego Movie 2, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 (YMMV), Klaus and great indie titles such as Weathering with You, I Lost My Body and more.

I never knew this movie was coming out until I saw a giant ad on the side of a Reading Bus

Me to this movie: “You may be a good copycat but you will NEVER BRING THE LEGO MOVIE HONOR!”

Now my personal best animated films of 2019 so far: 1. How to train your Dragon 3 2. Toy story 4 3. Klaus 4. Missing Link 5. Lego Movie 2 I still haven’t seen Frozen 2 yet.

2019 was 2013 all over again. All the worst films earned the Animat Seal of Garbage. There’s one plus-2013 has one Seal of Approval, 2019 has two.

@@chriswood-nostalgic8900 Yeah, but it's only being released on Netflix, which is a bummer because I would have liked to see that in theaters. I guess general moviegoers just don't care for stop-motion, and that's depressing because the animators work long hours day in and day out just to get a second or two of finished footage, and the fact that they receive so little money for their efforts is heartbreaking honestly.

I recently watched the movie and I didn't hate it for being a ripoff, I hated it for being so boring.

Honestly, I was reminded more of The Pagemaster than The Lego Movie from the setup.

@@Princess_-gp3ep I’ve never seen it, and while I haven’t seen the others either I know way more about that than Arthur. The only thing I know about it is that it spawned a coaster at a big park in Germany and it shares a name with a PBS cartoon.

@@DoswarePictures it was released in theaters on December 2006 and it came to the US on January 2007.

To say much, I never really had the interest to Playmobil as much as LEGOs, while this product is only limited to one catagory each. With LEGOs can be whatever you want, as this just only becomes one thing. And this just proves it, like you can't change heads, you can't change sets, and you can't change the concept that you are, because your Not LEGOS!

To me personally, I thought this movie could have been just as good as the Lego movie. It just wasn't handled properly.

Seal of Garbage #5 for this year. Yikes, this has to be one of the weirdest years for animation...

Honestly this movie was kinda dark at the beginning of the movie first there was a happy moment and then the movie slowly became a little bit dark when their parents died but then the movie turned out worse

When you realise that in another universe this film was the successful one and the Lego movie was just a crappy ripoff.

Moral of the story: Never make an animated film based on a popular toy line that bears striking similarities to another popular toy line that already has its own animated feature, with the last minute addition of songs where audiences wouldn't know until the premiere.

Much like Playmobil in general, I question how or why this even exists...other than to trick people into thinking it's the real thing of course.

Say what you will, but I like “Give The People What They Want” as an enjoyably evil song.

When I saw Frozen 2 there was a trailer for this and I thought it was a lego movie until I saw the title.

I’ve started getting into posting my ratings on Animat’s videos. Mind as well do that here, since I REALLY didn’t like this movie Story: 1/10 Animation: 3/10 Characters: 1/10 Songs: 2/10 Movie: 2/10 (Seal of garbage and send it to hell)

North America didn't get it until 06 December due to problems with the distribution company - the first distributor went bankrupt, and the second one only had limited resources, resulting in several delays.

I also remember play mobile in my child hood. And you know My Mom always round play mobiles to be more realistic then legos. And I definately played with play mobile in my childhood as well.

You know, when I was a kid, both Lego and Playmobile both with Ancient Egypt-themed set. As someone who loves Ancient Egypt , I actually preferred the Playmobile ones, since it was normal Egyptian city, as opposed to the Lego which was about an Idiana Jones-expy fighting mummies.

Hollywoo needs to accept the fact that The LEGO Movie phenomenon was a lightning bolt that was never going to strike twice. Until then they're just going to keep embarrassing themselves with these lazy, cynical ripoffs. And I'm SO glad I quit my job in childcare and won't be forced to endure this thing playing on a loop every damn day.

Agreed and by the way if you want to make a perfect Lego movie rip off then copy everything from The Lego movie

Also the villain having a backstory or, even if his plans didn’t work would come up with better ones

The best christmas movie ever ;)

Generic is exactly what describes this movie. Nothing about it is inherently Playmobil. All of it could be any Toy World or Kids' Imagination World. The Lego Movie worked because it was a story about Lego, not just taking place in it.

It’s been the 5th time Animat passed out the Animat Seal of Garbage. -Wonder Park -Uglydolls -The Addams Family -Arctic Dogs And Playmobil: The Movie All of which, released in 2019, got The Animat Seal of Garbage. Which year is worst for Animat? 2013 or 2019?
