Amazing. I should print one, along with a 3d printed trombone as well

3D printing may give players the opportunity to experiment and tweak various mouthpiece designs to create exactly what they want, then send the designs off to custom mouthpiece makers to cut them in brass. I'd rather do that than spend thousands on custom mouthpieces in search perfection in someone else's designs.

Thanks for this. I think the printed mouthpiece sounds quite interesting. If you wanted to be less bright or strident I think this plastic material could sound really good with some design advancements. Getting a near perfect replica obviously would be key. I've just bought a 3d printer so i'm looking to experiment with some mouthpieces for trombone.

So, how has your project been going? I am thinking about 3d printing a bass trombone mouthpiece for myself, do you have any tips or observations on some part of the proccess (moddeling, slicing, printing, ...) ?
